Shiv Sena (UBT) launches ‘Kya Hua Tera Wada?' agitation across Marathwada against unfulfilled promises made to farmers

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Shiv Sena (UBT) launched a regionwide mass protest across Marathwada on Thursday under the slogan 'Kya Hua Tera Wada?', challenging Mahayuti govt's unfulfilled commitments to farmers made ahead of the state assembly elections. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The agitation, which started on Thursday, will continue until June 12. It seeks to expose what Sena (UBT) claims is the BJP-led Mahayuti govt's disregard for agricultural communities in Maharashtra. BJP dismisses these actions as attention-seeking behaviour by the opposition, stating that these protests overlook the administration's beneficial programmes. "Numerous schemes were announced by Mahayuti to lure farmers ahead of the elections. But once it formed govt, the politicians conveniently forgot these assurances," said Shiv Sena (UBT) functionary and Maharashtra legislative council's leader of opposition Ambadas Danve. Danve expressed concerns over the rising incidents of farmer suicides across Maharashtra, particularly in the Marathwada region. The agitation will be held at various levels — district, taluka, mandal, and village. Party workers, led by local office-bearers, will submit memorandums addressed to the chief and both deputy chief ministers through govt officials. As per the plan, applications to various officials, including revenue officers, gram vikas officers, tehsildars and district collectors were submitted on June 5 (Thursday). On June 6 and 7, Shiv Sena (UBT) supporters will approach the residences and offices of Mahayuti's elected representatives, accompanied by traditional music while presenting their requests. Between June 8 and 10, village gatherings will be held in five villages per constituency, supervised by MPs, MLAs, district heads and local politicians. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Displays and hoardings featuring 'Kya Hua Tera Wada?' will be positioned at these locations. The agitation will conclude with a bullock cart and tractor procession at taluka level on June 11, followed by district-wide road blockades on June 12. Sena (UBT) has gathered support from farmers, residents and office-bearers from all wings of the party, including the Yuva Sena, Mahila Aghadi, and affiliated organisations.

Over Rs 56 crore disbursed in compensation to ineligible farmers in Jalna, collector submits interim inquiry report to govt

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: An initial investigation by the Jalna district administration has uncovered significant irregularities in govt compensation distribution to farmers affected by natural disasters. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The interim report, submitted by district collector Shrikrishna Panchal to state govt, reveals duplicate payments, fraudulent beneficiaries, and inaccurate land record representations under various govt resolutions between Nov 2022 and Feb 2024. The estimated misappropriation of farmers' compensation funds amounts to Rs 56 crore. Collector Panchal said, "We initiated the inquiry on Jan 28, 2025, after receiving random complaints regarding compensation irregularities. We formed a three-member committee to conduct the probe across the district. The committee comprises the Ambad sub-divisional officer, deputy collector (rehabilitation), and a naib tehsildar." Following BJP Badnapur MLA Narayan Kuche's complaint to the chief minister in April 2025, the chief minister's office (CMO) requested a comprehensive report from the district administration. According to the interim report submitted on April 17, 2025, the investigation examined compensation distributed to farmers across 125 villages in Ambad taluka and 36 villages in Ghansawangi taluka under govt resolutions dated Nov 17, 2022, June 20, 2023, Feb 29, 2024 (Ambad), and Nov 17, 2022, June 20, 2023, Jan 31, 2024, in Ghansawangi. The verification process covered 26,645 beneficiaries, revealing numerous fraudulent entries. A team of four revenue assistants and 15 newly appointed gram revenue officers conducted comparisons between the e-Panchnama Payment Disbursement Portal and land ownership records. They implemented a colour-coding system: Yellow indicated names absent from land records, orange showed excess land claims, red highlighted govt land, and blue marked duplicate entries. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The report excludes instances of dry land falsely registered as orchard land, pending verification. Changes in beneficiary data after Jan 1, 2025, await inclusion, and updated figures will follow tehsildar re-verification. The Ghansawangi tehsildar has not responded to clarification requests made on March 3 and April 16, 2025. Investigations continue in 13 villages of Ambad and 81 villages of Ghansawangi talukas. The district administration established a five-member expert committee on April 11, 2025, led by the collector, including the district council CEO, additional district collector, superintendent agriculture officer, and resident deputy collector. The administration has also intensified fund recovery efforts, collecting approximately ₹5 crore from ineligible beneficiaries. Officials receive weekly directives to accelerate the recovery process. For distributions after Sept 2024 under two govt resolutions, ₹448.3 crore was allocated to 2,81,532 beneficiaries. The administration confirms implementing safeguards against similar irregularities. The state government awaits the final report upon investigation's completion. Box: Irregularities identified by the committee: 1 Duplicate entries of the same beneficiary receiving aid more than once. 2 Compensation transferred to people who do not own agricultural land. 3 Discrepancies where the beneficiary's name on the portal did not match land ownership records (8-A extracts). 4 Granting of orchard crop compensation to claimants with only dry or minimal irrigated land 5 Entries showing agricultural land on govt plots. 6 Inflated land areas used to claim higher compensation.

Dissmissed Beed cop Ranjit Kasale booked again for an objectionable post, this time against Fadnavis

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Dismissed sub-inspector Ranjit Kasale, who is already embroiled in several criminal cases, has been slapped with additional charges from the Beed cybercrime branch for allegedly posting derogatory and defamatory content against Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on social media platforms. The latest FIR, registered on Monday, stems from a complaint lodged by BJP IT cell's state co-convenor Sambhaji Surve. The complaint alleges that Kasale published content deemed defamatory to Fadnavis and of an objectionable nature, resulting in police intervention. Police have applied sections 197 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) alongside section 66 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. These new allegations are expected to intensify the legal challenges for the former policeman, who is currently under police detention for a different case. A Mumbai crime branch team recently caught Kasale in Delhi and transported him to Mumbai for questioning. Following his court appearance before a magistrate, he received two days of police custody. This detention concluded on Monday, June 2, after which he appeared before the Fort court. Earlier, Kasale faced arrest for allegedly attempting to create communal discord and making offensive remarks against elected representatives. The current case adds to a growing list of complaints against him. Before these events, police had registered two separate FIRs against Kasale at Beed's Shivajinagar police station and the district's cyber police station, following complaints from social activist Mohan Aghav. Additionally, Kasale faces charges in Mumbai for similar violations involving provocative social media content directed at political figures and communities. According to police sources, Kasale's online activities demonstrate consistent behaviour aimed at causing discord and damaging the reputations of public officials.
