The agitation, which started on Thursday, will continue until June 12. It seeks to expose what Sena (UBT) claims is the BJP-led Mahayuti govt's disregard for agricultural communities in Maharashtra. BJP dismisses these actions as attention-seeking behaviour by the opposition, stating that these protests overlook the administration's beneficial programmes.
"Numerous schemes were announced by Mahayuti to lure farmers ahead of the elections.
But once it formed govt, the politicians conveniently forgot these assurances," said Shiv Sena (UBT) functionary and Maharashtra legislative council's leader of opposition Ambadas Danve.
Danve expressed concerns over the rising incidents of farmer suicides across Maharashtra, particularly in the Marathwada region.
The agitation will be held at various levels — district, taluka, mandal, and village. Party workers, led by local office-bearers, will submit memorandums addressed to the chief and both deputy chief ministers through govt officials.
As per the plan, applications to various officials, including revenue officers, gram vikas officers, tehsildars and district collectors were submitted on June 5 (Thursday). On June 6 and 7, Shiv Sena (UBT) supporters will approach the residences and offices of Mahayuti's elected representatives, accompanied by traditional music while presenting their requests.
Between June 8 and 10, village gatherings will be held in five villages per constituency, supervised by MPs, MLAs, district heads and local politicians.

Displays and hoardings featuring 'Kya Hua Tera Wada?' will be positioned at these locations.
The agitation will conclude with a bullock cart and tractor procession at taluka level on June 11, followed by district-wide road blockades on June 12. Sena (UBT) has gathered support from farmers, residents and office-bearers from all wings of the party, including the Yuva Sena, Mahila Aghadi, and affiliated organisations.

Only KCR decided on KLIS matters: Eatala

Hyderabad: Deposing before the Justice (retd) PC Ghose one-man commission inquiring into alleged irregularities in Kaleshwaram project, former BRS finance minister (now BJP MP) Eatala Rajender said the decision on redesigning the project and location of the three barrages – Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla – was taken by the cabinet led by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, and he had limited role as finance minister. Rajender, who was witness no. 113, told the panel that the project cost, loans, auditing and quality of barrages came under the Kaleshwaram corporation and irrigation department, not the finance department. Cabinet took decision The commission, which is probing the sinking of piers in Block 7 of Medigadda barrage and damages in Annaram and Sundilla, called Rajender as witness since he was the finance minister when the project was taken up by the BRS govt in 2015. He served as finance minister between June 2014 and Sept 2018. Apart from Rajender, the commission is set to quiz former BRS irrigation minister T Harish Rao on June 9 and KCR on June 11. On Friday, during 40 minutes of questioning, Justice Ghose posed 19 questions. Rajender maintained that he was merely one of the three members in the cabinet sub-committee headed by then irrigation minister Harish Rao on finalising the location of the Kaleshwaram project, but the cabinet took the final decision. On redesigning of Kaleshwaram, Rajender said that originally it was proposed at Thummudihatti on Maharashtra border at 152 metres height and reduced to 148 metres. Since there were objections from the neighbouring state, the sub-committee was constituted by KCR and cabinet approved it based on expert committee, technical committee and sub-committee reports. He replied that the sub-committee okayed the redesigning and the three barrages' construction was approved by the cabinet. The MP, however, said he was not aware 5.97 crore paid to WAPCOS for preparation of the report. The project's initial cost was 16,500 crore, which was revised to 38,000 crore. Later, after revision and inclusion of more areas and components, it was estimated to cost 63,000 crore. Even that was revised to 82,000 crore. Of this, the barrages cost less than 10,000 crore, he said. 'KCR is the big boss' Later, speaking to reporters, Rajender said the decision to shift Kaleshwaram location from Thummidihatti to Medigadda was taken by KCR , who was head of the cabinet and big boss. "There were some comments when I was summoned by the one-man commission. But people of Telangana know me for the past 25 years and I have maintained ethics in politics. I won't lie even at gun point," Rajender said. The BJP MP demanded that the govt take action against all those responsible for the alleged irregularities in the project as some agencies have already submitted their reports. He also urged the govt to make reports public. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Eid wishes , messages , and quotes !

Stampede deaths: Outrage over missing political accountability as ministers go scot-free

Bengaluru: The govt is facing a storm of criticism over the absence of political accountability for the stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium which claimed 11 lives. Though the govt suspended three IPS officers and transferred another, mounting public outrage and opposition fire has centered on the fact that no minister has been held accountable for clearing Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL celebrations. At a press conference Friday, NDA partners BJP and JD(S) demanded the resignation of chief minister Siddaramaiah , his deputy DK Shivakumar, and home minister G Parameshwara. They accused the govt of making scapegoats of police officers while absolving themselves of responsibility for the tragic incident. "Congress' high command should think about sacking both Siddaramaiah and his deputy and bringing in new faces," said union minister HD Kumaraswamy of JD(S). "They and their supporters were jostling to secure political mileage from RCB's victory celebrations." He alleged that while Shivakumar was away attending a court case in Kanakapura, K Govindaraju, the CM's political secretary, "goaded him into holding celebrations on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha". "When his media adviser alerted him about this, the deputy CM rushed to receive the cricket team at HAL Airport. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Device Made My Power Bill Drop Overnight elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Pre-Order Undo The tragedy unfolded from there," said Kumaraswamy. BJP state president BY Vijayendra lambasted Siddaramaiah, saying, "Bengaluru's police commissioner has been made the scapegoat in this entire episode. In the FIR, DNA (event management firm), RCB and KSCA have been named. In truth, accused No 1 is the chief minister himself, accused No 2 is deputy CM and accused No 3 is home minister G Parameshwara. Their sheer carelessness and negligence led to this tragedy. Despite deaths, Siddaramaiah went to a hotel to eat dosa, while Shivakumar participated in the victory celebration at the stadium. This is so insensitive." Opposition leader R Ashoka said: "The CM wants to hit a century by completing his full five-term, while the DCM wants to run him out. But, in the process, people of Karnataka have been out hit wicket." Kumaraswamy demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting high court judge and said BJP would consider pushing for a special legislature session. Amid the growing backlash, Siddaramaiah defended the govt's response. "They (opposition) are indulging in politics. I don't want to politicise this. We penalised those who were visibly responsible and found to be negligent in their duty," he said. Shivakumar said: "Let them (BJP) demand (my resignation). They are trying to politicise the issue over dead bodies. My chief minister was kind enough to announce a judicial inquiry. Action has been taken against some. An investigation is underway. The case has been handed over to the CID. What more can the govt do?" Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Eid wishes , messages , and quotes !
