Seethakka lays foundation for Eco-Ethnic Village at Incherla in Mulugu
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) laid the foundation stone for an 'Eco-Ethnic Village' and other development projects worth ₹37 crore at Incherla village in Mulugu mandal in the district in the presence of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Chairman (TGTDC) Patel Ramesh Reddy on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Seethakka said several tourist sites in her constituency — Ramappa, Laknavaram, Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma, Bogatha waterfall and Blackberry Island near Tadvai in dense forest areas — have already seen developmental works. The Eco-Ethnic Village was developed under Development of Ramappa region sustainable tourism circuit in Ramappa, Telangana under Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) by the TDTDC. As part of the new projects, a shopping complex and amphitheatre will be constructed along National Highway 163 at a cost of ₹37 crore. The Minister added that ₹13 crore will be spent on island development works in the Ramappa Lake, while two more island projects are in the pipeline for the Laknavaram Lake. Additional funds have also been secured from the Centre to strengthen tourism infrastructure in the region. TGTDC chairman Ramesh Reddy said the State government is committed to transforming Mulugu into the most sought-after tourist destination in the State.

City sees Independence Day celebrations in tricolour hues
Citizen collectives and organizations across the city held multiple activities and programmes to mark the 79th Independence Day. Volunteers from the St. Broseph Army, the volunteering wing of Broseph Foundation, a Bengaluru-headquartered NGO, came together to restore Freedom Wall, a visual tribute to India's national icons in Indiranagar. The volunteers scrubbed and sponged away layers of dirt and stains and swept the ground around the wall. 'This wasn't just about cleaning a wall, but it was about preserving a space that holds deep meaning for our community. It's a small but powerful way to honour our national heritage as we celebrate Independence Day,' said Tarini Shivnani, a volunteer. Competitions held As part of the Independence Day celebrations and 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, the central office, Central Silk Board, organised drawing, painting, and letter writing competitions for jawans at Government School, Madiwala. Quiz, 'pick & speak' game, and eco-friendly Tiranga making was held for the employees. A movie screening of the film Parmanu and an awareness rally was also held. Scholarships for students Canara Bank celebrated the Independence Day by announcing scholarships for meritorious SC/ST girl students from underprivileged backgrounds, under the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme 'Canara bank Dr. Ambedkar Vidya Jyothi Scholarship.' The scholarship will be distributed across 26 circle offices, 177 regional offices, and over 9,861 branches throughout the country. . The bank has also facilitated village adoption initiatives and the construction of toilets and sanitation facilities for girl students in rural schools under its CSR Programme. It also extended support to Sree Boomika Social Service Trust, which serves as an old-age home and orphanage, and persons with disabilities, through the Samarthanam Trust for the disabled by providing assistive devices. Week-long celebrations Canadian International School (CIS) celebrated Independence Day alongside its milestone of 30 years of international education. The week-long celebrations brought together students and staff from over 40 nationalities.

Oil palm processing units to come up in all districts in Telangana
MULUGU: Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao said the state government plans to set up oil palm processing factories in all districts. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will inaugurate a large facility in Siddipet district this month, he added. On Monday, Nageswara Rao and Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) laid the foundation stone for an oil palm processing unit at Incherla village in Mulugu district. Speaking at the event, Nageswara Rao said Mulugu had been a hub for farming since the days of undivided Andhra Pradesh. 'I have been a farmer for 40 years and never faced any trouble in agriculture,' he said. In Mulugu, oil palm is currently grown on 5,000 acres, with plans to expand by another 5,000 acres. He stressed the need for awareness programmes to educate farmers on the benefits of oil palm and horticulture crops, urging them to shift to more profitable cultivation. The minister also noted that Mulugu district has many tourist attractions, and the government is working to develop it as a tourism hub. The Karregutta area has been developed as a tourist corridor, he added. 'IT firm to set up office in Mulugu district' Seethakka encouraged farmers to cultivate at least five acres of oil palm for good returns, and said those with 10 acres or more should definitely take up the crop to avail subsidies. The government is supplying each plant at Rs 25 against the market price of Rs 200, she said. She also announced that an IT company will soon be established in Mulugu district, with IT Minister D Sridhar Babu set to inaugurate it on August 18. 'The state government is providing a permanent building for the IT company,' she added.
