Five fights Dana White can make for Ilia Topuria after epic UFC 317 KO, including Paddy Pimblett grudge match
ILIA TOPURIA is the new king of the UFC's lightweight division.
The Georgian-born Spaniard became only the
TENTH
fighter in the
history
of MMA's premier promotion to hold titles in two weight classes last weekend in the main event of UFC 317 in
Las Vegas
.

'El Matador' claimed the vacant lightweight title with a blistering first-round KO of former champion
Attention has already turned to who the 28-year-old will fight in his maiden defence of the 155lbs throne, which he'll no doubt be hoping will take place in his adopted homeland of Spain.
And SunSport is on hand with five fighters the new fan favourite could face in his
next
outing.
Paddy Pimblett
Given their long-standing beef, which stemmed from social media comments Pimblett made about Georgians, this fight is an absolute no-brainer.
The pair are currently the two biggest names in the stacked division, so pitting them together, especially when they're both in red-hot form, makes sense.
The build-up to this one would be box office, especially after their
UFC supremo Dana White has, however, already revealed he's not keen on pitting the pair against one another
next
.
But the demand for this fight, the biggest the promotion can make at the moment in time, is white hot.

So the UFC would be foolish not to capitalise while the iron is hot and book this long overdue clash of stars.
Islam Makhachev
Watch jacked Ilia Topuria complete epic UFC 317 body transformation after ditching crash diet to lose over 40lbs
Topuria, of course, moved up from featherweight in February to pursue a champion-versus-champion with pound-for-pound king
Islam
Makhachev.
Makhchev, as we all know, ended up begrudgingly vacating the 155lbs belt to pursue welterweight gold once former training partner Belal Muhammad lost the belt to Jack Della Maddalena.
The Dagestani destroyer is understood to harbour ambitions of reclaiming the belt he won in October 2022.
It would make for a fantastic storyline if Makhachev were to win gold at 170lbs and drop back down to 155lbs to try to reclaim what was once his in a super-fight fans are still pining for.

Arman Tsarukyan
The Armenian, of course, was set to challenge Makhachev for the belt in January before a freak back injury less than
48 hours
before fight night scuppered the bout.
Tsarukyan, who is on a four-fight win streak, weighed in as the backup fighter for the main event.
So it would make sense for him to be in the running to be Topuria's first opponent for his reign as king of the lightweights.

Justin Gaethje
He may only be riding a one-fight win streak, and just over a year removed from a brutal KO at the hands of Max Holloway, but there is a case for Gaethje getting the title shot.
He did the UFC brass a favour by agreeing to defend the BMF belt against Holloway at UFC 300 following back-to-back wins of Rafael Fiziev and
The promotion threw a boatload of cash at Gaethje in order to jazz up their tri-centennial card and his decision to take the fight cost him dearly.
Doing him a solid and giving him a third crack at
undisputed
lightweight gold at Topuria is the least the UFC could do.

Max Holloway
Although Topuria became the first man to crack Holloway's chin in his first and final featherweight title defence, there is still some interest in a rematch between the pair.
Holloway cut a drained figure in their fight as he was returning to the weight class having filled out his frame to face Gaethje in their BMF bout at UFC 300.

The weight cut could've played a role in his chin finally giving out, although Topuria does carry insane
power
in both hands.
Either way, should Holloway win his trilogy fight with Poirier next month in emphatic fashion, the appetite for a rematch will likely be there.

McGregor trains on beach in front of holidaymakers as he steps up UFC comeback
Conor McGregor was seen giving a dazzling display of his boxing skills on an Ibiza beach, as an adoring crowd watched on. The 36-year-old has been out of action since his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021 - a bout that resulted in a lengthy hiatus for the Notorious one due to a broken leg sustained in the opening round. But it seems McGregor is gearing up for a spectacular comeback to the fight scene, as he was caught on camera demonstrating his quick hands and formidable power under the shining sun. A throng of onlookers gathered to witness the Dubliner unleash a flurry of punches, culminating in a wave of cheers and applause as he concluded his session. McGregor also shared video clips showing his fiancée, Dee Devlin, and their children in attendance at the impromptu showcase. In other clips, McGregor is seen wrapping his hands beneath a parasol, sporting wraps with a dollar bill motif, while saying: "Money in the till, baby. Money in the till," with a chuckle. McGregor was originally slated for a UFC comeback last June against Michael Chandler following their intense stint as rival coaches on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. However, he withdrew from the bout in its build-up due to a broken toe, reports Dublin Live. While McGregor seems to be chomping at the bit to make his return to the Octagon, UFC president Dana White and his team of matchmakers haven't yet pinned down a date or opponent for his comeback. Still, Chandler harbours hope that he'll be the one to roll out the welcome mat for the ex-featherweight and lightweight champ's return to the fray. Speaking to the Mirror back in November, the 39-year-old said: "I still believe Conor comes back at some point, and when he does, that road goes through Nashville, Tennessee, and Michael Chandler. We have to finish TUF 31, we have to get a fight poster that actually comes to fruition for a fight, we have to get a contract that actually comes to fruition for a fight but either way if the fight with Conor never happens, I am completely content - I wish him well. "But I have a sneaky suspicion Conor does not want to sail off into the sunset the way he has right now. He wants to come back and needs to come back for Conor McGregor 's legacy." It comes just weeks after McGregor was seen mingling with a host of celebs at Wayne Lineker's renowned Ocean Beach Club, where he was snapped alongside stars such as model Katie Price and Tottenham Hotspur ace Kevin Danso. The MMA superstar was topless, donning red Versace shorts and puffing on a cigar as he made his grand entrance into the open-air club, playing up to the crowd. The snap that garnered attention from his 46.5 million followers featured him with a beaming Katie Price, alongside the caption: "@katieprice forever," - a photo which was re-shared by Price as she added: "You legend," clearly showing her admiration for the Irishman. McGregor, who of late seems to be throwing his weight behind promoting Bare Knuckle FC, has also stayed tuned into the UFC. Following Ilia Topuria's stunning first-round knockout victory over Charles Oliveira at the weekend, where he cinched the lightweight title previously held by McGregor, he took to X to write: "Congrats on winning my old titles, illia!". In the now-deleted post, he added: "He said he gonna rest his b**** on paddy['s] head too hahah fair play. Good LW scrap that one is as well imo. UFC is back? Or still missing something..? 3 ko's back to back is very good. No one can deny the knockout. I like."

LIV star that defied Rory McIlroy pockets €550k as Northern Irishman skips event
Tom McKibbin pocketed more than €550,000 after his stellar performance at LIV Dallas, as the young Northern Irish golfer continues to rake in the cash on the controversial Saudi-backed circuit. The 22-year-old shared fifth place with Charles Howell III, Harold Varner III and Tyrrell Hatton on Sunday, bagging the hefty sum and pushing his total LIV earnings over the €4.3 million mark. Despite initially being cautioned by Rory McIlroy against relinquishing his PGA Tour card for the rival tour, his January move to LIV has proven to be quite the lucrative leap for the Belfast-born star. McKibbin, who was reportedly tempted by a €4.6m offer to join the breakaway tour, made the jump to join big names like Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, with McIlroy expressing his reservations about his fellow countryman's career move. "If I were in his position, I wouldn't make that decision," declared the Masters champion when McKibbin bid farewell to the PGA Tour. While McKibbin was cashing in at Dallas, McIlroy decided to give the Rocket Classic in Detroit a miss, even though the winner stood to earn €1.4m. In the absence of the five-time major winner, it was the 20-year-old Aldrich Potgeiter who narrowly triumphed with a final round of 69, snagging his first PGA Tour title in just his 20th appearance. The young sensation not only bagged a sizeable cash prize but also etched his name into the history books by becoming the youngest South African to win on the PGA Tour. Additionally, he joined the elite group of non-American players under 21 to clinch a PGA Tour event, an exclusive list featuring golfing greats like Seve Ballesteros, Joaquin Niemann, Tom Kim and McIlroy. Potgeiter, reliving his victory, shared: "Today was a grind. It's not a fun thing to start with a lead, but it's always nice to win in a playoff. Going into the playoff, they picked some good holes that suited my game, but I'm just happy to get through that playoff. "I'd like to thank everyone in South Africa, for staying up so late, as well as my friends and family. You guys have been awesome!" With eyes turning towards The Open Championship next month at Royal Portrush, McKibbin reflected on the privilege of competing at such a major event in front of a home crowd. Having competed last year at Royal Troon, McKibbin is set to experience a first by playing The Open in Northern Ireland, expressing: "I've played here however many hundreds of times. "It's somewhere I've come up and played since I was 10 years old. To play a major championship on this golf course is going to be pretty special, the biggest event I'll ever have played in under that pressure and atmosphere." The last time the event took place at Royal Portrush was in 2019, when Shane Lowry claimed the Claret Jug. "It's something not many people get to say, that they've played an Open in their home country," added the LIV star. "To play it here on one of the best courses in the world, it's going to be pretty special. To be here and be playing will be something that I'll probably remember forever."
