One of the rarest and most celebrated muscle cars from Pontiac's twilight years is now up for grabs. A 2001 Pontiac Trans Am Firehawk 10th Anniversary Edition, showing just 3,909 miles from new, will cross the auction block soon, offering collectors a near-perfect example of a modern classic.
This Firehawk, serial number 43 of just 139 built for the anniversary year, is presented in factory-original condition. The car was delivered new by Star Pontiac in Easton, Pennsylvania, and underwent its Firehawk transformation at SLP Canada's LaSalle facility in March 2001. It remains a preserved, unrestored example—complete with its original window sticker, T-top storage bags, and SLP documentation.
Powered by a modified 5.7-liter LS1 V8 engine, this Firehawk produces 335 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter delivers power to the rear wheels, supported by an SLP-tuned suspension featuring Bilstein components. A functional composite hood with cold air induction scoops, unique 17-inch gold Ronal wheels, Firestone Firehawk tires, and stainless-steel exhaust add to its distinctive presence and performance.
Inside, the Firehawk features neutral leather upholstery, a Monsoon 10-speaker sound system, removable glass T-tops, and numerous power options. The car includes rare touches like the Firehawk ashtray plaque, SLP key fobs, and premium floor mats—all in unused condition.

CT man suffers life-threatening injuries in crash on I-84 off-ramp in Waterbury
A man was seriously injured during a crash in the early morning hours on Friday on Interstate 84 in Waterbury where police said he veered off an exit ramp and struck a guardrail. The crash occurred shortly after midnight on the eastbound side of the highway on the Exit 23 off-ramp, according to Connecticut State Police. A 43-year-old Bloomfield man was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 in the center or right lane when he lost control and veered into the right shoulder, striking a metal beam guardrail, state police said. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken in an ambulance to Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, according to state police. The Pontiac had to be towed from the scene because of the damage it sustained. The crash remains under investigation. Like the Tempest, it was an intermediate car, a mid-sizer with some zip if you ordered it with the right engine under the hood. More important, it was also the launch pad for the famed GTO, where it started as a LeMans trim level before it, too, became its own name plate. The 1988 version? Rather than honor Le Mans as a racing circuit, or LeMans as the father of the GTO, it went about as far in the opposite direction as possible, rebadging a Korean subcompact called the Daewoo Cielo, which was itself a copy of a copy of the Opel Kadett. Not exactly a compelling branch in what had once been a respectable family tree, and a car that did more to turn people off the Pontiac brand than perhaps any other vehicle in its showroom.
