Nishikant Dubey slams Congress, claims it made India
New Delhi [India], May 30 (ANI): BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday accused the Congress-led UPA government of weakening India's national security, alleging that between 2005 and 2008, its foreign policy allowed repeated talks with Pakistan over the exchange of sensitive territories like Kashmir, Sir Creek, and Siachen--ultimately making India 'a weak, helpless and powerless nation' and costing Indian lives.
In his X post, he wrote, 'After 1989, from 2005 to 2008, did the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan decide to exchange Kashmir, Sir Creek and Siachen 5 times or not? Congress always made India a weak, helpless and powerless nation in front of Pakistan and got Indians killed.'

In a series of X posts earlier, Dubey slammed the former Manmohan Singh-led government, alleging that under pressure from the United States, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) had decided to resume dialogue with Pakistan shortly after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
In a post shared on X, Dubey referred to the meeting between Manmohan Singh and Pakistan's then-Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, in July 2009. This was the first formal engagement between the two countries after the November 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Dubey questioned the timing of the meeting, saying, 'Pakistan attacked Mumbai on 26 November 2008. 180 people died and 300 were injured; the fire of the pyre has not even cooled down. Was the dialogue started in December under US pressure without attacking Pakistan or not? Is this the statement of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Lok Sabha?'
The BJP leader alleged that the talks with Pakistan were not only premature but also influenced by external forces, especially the United States. He cited multiple instances from 2009 where Indian and Pakistani leaders engaged in diplomatic interactions.
'Did the Foreign Ministers' meeting take place in January 2009 or not? Did he meet Pakistan President Zardari in Russia in June 2009 with the mediation of a third country or not? In July 2009, under American pressure, did Sharmal Sheikh go to Egypt and reach an agreement with the Prime Minister of Pakistan or not?' he asked.
Referring to another major terror incident that occurred in 2011, Dubey said that such attacks highlighted Pakistan's continued support to terrorism, and criticised the Congress party's alleged 'soft' approach.
'In 2011, Mumbai blast happened again in which 26 people died and 200 people were injured. PM Modi raised our head high by doing Operation Sindoor, after years Pakistan is in a state of panic. Congress is completely hand in glove with terrorist Pakistan. The public can go to hell,' he added.
In an earlier post on Wednesday, Dubey had also targeted Congress over an alleged nuclear deal with Pakistan in 1988 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. According to Dubey, the agreement was signed under 'American pressure'.
He posted a purportedly declassified letter that he claimed was sent by former US President Ronald Reagan to Rajiv Gandhi, which outlined America's role in setting the agenda for India-Pakistan discussions.
'Why is Congress angry? When I saw this paper, I felt ashamed. US President Ronald Reagan sent this letter/telegram to the then-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Under American pressure, we spoke to Pakistani President General Zia. The agenda for the talks was set by the US President. What we understood after this letter was that Pakistan and we did the nuclear deal in 1988 under American pressure,' Dubey said in his post.
He further added, 'Whatever we talked to our friend Soviet Russia about on the Afghanistan problem was an American agenda. Is this the Shimla Agreement? Is the Iron Lady the mentality of slavery? Were we a sovereign nation at that time? Is Congress abusing Modi Ji to make India stronger?'
Dubey, the Member of Parliament from Godda in Jharkhand, is part of a multi-party parliamentary delegation currently visiting West Asia and North Africa. The group, led by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda, has already visited Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The delegation is scheduled to arrive in Algeria on May 30 for the next leg of its official tour. Ankita Bhandari case becomes Congress-BJP battleground in Uttarakhand
WHILE the Pushkar Singh Dhami-led BJP government is claiming credit for 'swift justice' after a Uttarakhand court on Friday sentenced three persons, including former BJP minister Vinod Arya's son, Pulkit, to life imprisonment in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Congress has alleged that evidence was destroyed and there were 'lapses in the probe'. Referring to the September 23, 2022, demolition of the 'illegal' Vanantara resort where Ankita was employed and lived, a day before her body was recovered from the Chilla canal, state Congress spokesperson Garima Dasauni targeted a BJP MLA. All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba was also present at the press conference held by the party Monday. 'The MLA, acting on what she claimed were instructions from Dhami, demolished the resort where the girl was staying. She then released a video thanking the CM for his sensitive response. Even as tampering with a crime scene is a grave offence, Dhami himself in a social media post on September 24 boasted about the demolition of the Vanantara resort,' Dasauni said. Acting DGP Abhinav Kumar said the judgment was based on evidence. Dasauni also pointed to the 'irregularities' in the BJP's poster, circulated widely on social media by party workers, which claimed that the government had changed lawyers thrice at the victim's family's behest, provided jobs to Ankita's kin, ensured that the accused's bail was rejected due to strong arguments by prosecutors and provided Rs 25 lakh financial assistance to the family. 'It also falsely claimed that the accused were arrested within 24 hours but in reality it took six days,' she said. Claiming that 'Ankita had to die' due to the VIP that the Dhami government was 'shielding', former CM Harish Rawat said the Congress would reinvestigate the case if voted to power in the 2027 Assembly polls. 'We will set up an SIT within 10 days of government formation… The incident is of great significance as Ankita sacrificed her life for honour. There is a general feeling among the people that the BJP government helped cover up the case,' Rawat told The Indian Express, adding that Bisht's role also needed to be probed. Following the court's verdict Anikta's father, Virendra Bhandari called for the BJP MLA's role and the VIP's details to be made public even as Dhami cited his government's 'sankalp (resolve)' in ensuring justice for Ankita. 'She was a daughter and sister of the mountains… Soon after the incident came to light, we directed the police to arrest the accused, and constituted an SIT headed by a woman IPS officer. Due to this, the accused were not granted bail and have been sentenced to life in prison. We are also in touch with her family,' he said. State BJP chief and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt also sought to credit Dhami's leadership for the verdict and hailed the role of investigating agencies. 'The CM had made it clear that the culprits would be awarded the strictest punishment. Acting upon his directives, all proceedings – from investigation to trial – were conducted with the consent and involvement of the victim's family. Despite the high number of witnesses and evidence, justice was delivered in a minimal timeframe,' he said. A receptionist at the Vanantara resort, 19-year-old Ankita was murdered on September 18, 2022, for allegedly refusing to 'offer special services' to a VIP guest, whose identity is yet to be revealed. While the Congress alleged 'malpractice' in keeping the guest's details hidden, Ankita's parents had moved the Uttarakhand High Court seeking the case be transferred to the CBI. However, the petition was dismissed. Protests had erupted across the state after the case came to light with the Congress demanding a CBI probe into it while accusing the BJP of tampering with the evidence. Arya as well as his elder son Ankit, who was the vice-president of the OBC Commission, were expelled in the wake of the incident. The Congress had also taken up the case ahead of the Lok Sabha polls with its state chief Karan Mahara urging the Election Commission (EC) to transfer DGP Kumar. '…The investigation of Ankita Bhandari's heinous murder case is still ongoing but the statement of the current DGP regarding the investigation, in which he has been found defending the government like the spokesperson of the ruling party, is against the dignity of his current post,' he had said in his letter to the EC. The BJP had gone on to win all five Lok Sabha seats in the state. Aiswarya Raj is a correspondent with The Indian Express who covers South Haryana. While others said, "Looks like someone painted a haunted rotisserie chicken just moments before it asked to suspend the Constitution. I've seen less tension in a gas station Bigfoot drawing.
