THREE Brits who faced the death penalty for allegedly smuggling £300,000 of cocaine into Bali have been let off with a one-year sentence.
The trio from Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea in East Sussex were stopped at Bali's international airport in February with 17 packages of cocaine, according to court documents.

Lisa Stocker, 39, a mum-of-three, and her partner, Jon Collyer, 39, had travelled from the UK via Qatar and were stopped in Indonesia's capital after a routine airport x-ray detected suspicious packages.
The couple first appeared in court on February 3 alongside Phineas Float, 31, who was accused of receiving the packages at an airport hotel.
Presiding judge Heriyanti said on Thursday morning that all three suspects had violated article 131 of Indonesian Narcotic law.
But Heriyanti added that the trio had admitted their offences and behaved "politely", and as a result, he was reducing their sentence.
All three defendants said that they accepted the verdict and would not file an appeal.
They have been serving time since February, which will count towards their sentence.
This means they are expected to be released early next year.
In the past, convicted drug traffickers - especially those caught with large amounts - have been executed by firing squads in Indonesia.
Those who escape the death penalty are often sentenced to life imprisonment.
In mid-July, lead prosecutor Made Dipa Umbara suggested the trio might be able to avoid a serious prison sentence.
New CCTV of Brit 'mule' Bella May Culley 'smuggling £200k of cannabis' released as cops slam her claims she was coerced
He announced they will ask to "sentence the defendants to one year in prison" each, minus the time already served.
Umbara noted that all three had behaved well in court, apologised for their role in the smuggling plot and promised not to reoffend.
On July 15, Ms Stocker broke down in tears as she told the court she had been conned into carrying illicit packages.
She claimed a friend gave her the packages of Angel Delight in the UK and asked her to take them to Bali.
Ms Stocker said in June: "Jon and I had been to Bali twice carrying packages from [him]. I was shocked after finding out it was cocaine."
In mid-July, she again claimed she had no idea that her suitcase was full of narcotics.
Her partner, Mr Collyer, admitted what they did was "very stupid" as he told Judge Heriyanti: "I won't do it again."
Mr Float remained quiet as he sat in court after being involved in a shouting match during a previous hearing.
Back in June, while walking to the courtroom for the first day of his trial he yelled at journalist "f*** off".

‘Travellers' in 30 caravans take over park in leafy suburb – but cops have NO power to evict them
Cops and the local authority are monitoring the encampment closely PARK STRIFE 'Travellers' in 30 caravans take over park in leafy suburb – but cops have NO power to evict them Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MORE than two dozen caravans have taken over a local park with cops left powerless to evict them. Around 30 caravans appeared yesterday evening at Guildford's Stoke Park with police officers "monitoring the situation closely." Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Officers say they are currently powerless to evict the 'travellers' Credit: User Generated Surrey Police have visited the makeshift caravan site but are unable to evict the caravans and their owners. Cops said they are working closely with Guildford Borough Council, which owns the 130-acre town centre park, to monitor the encampment. More than 30 caravans and a number of cars appeared overnight, setting up camp on one of the playing fields in the park uninvited. The quiet greenspace quickly began to resemble a caravan site with cops becoming involved. The force have said that the large encampment does not currently meet the threshold of powers available to police to manage unauthorised encampments. Officer's powers to manage encampments are "reliant on certain criteria with regards to damage, disruption, or distress" according to Surrey Police. Cops paid a visit to the site after it was reported to them but concluded that nothing could be done about the pop up camp. Surrey Police said they will continue to review the criteria to judge whether the threshold to evict the camper vans had been met. Images of the encampment show the caravans parked in a haphazard style on a playing pitch. A set of goalposts can be seen in the background of one of the pictures with the caravans blocking a large area of the pitch. Moment French farmers use tractors to spray hordes of squatters with manure The campers appear to have generators and gas canisters hooked up to them as the owners look to be settling in for a long stay. Each of the caravans seems to have come with its own car to tow it along, taking up even more space in the leafy suburb. Officers have so far been completely powerless to evict the caravan owners with locals forced to put up with the encampment for the time being. A police spokesperson said: "We are aware of an unauthorised encampment of around 30 caravans and 28 other vehicles in Stoke Park, which arrived yesterday evening (August 12). "Officers visited the site and will continue to monitor the situation while working closely with our partners at Guildford Borough Council, who own the land. "The powers available to police to manage unauthorised encampments under Sections 60, 61, and 62 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 are reliant on meeting certain criteria with regards to damage, disruption, or distress. "It was judged that the encampment does not currently meet this threshold, but the relevant sections of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 will be reviewed on an ongoing basis to judge whether the criteria to direct the site to be vacated has been met."

Moment ‘thief' rams quad bike into police car sending it flipping into air before landing upside down
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SHOCKING footage shows the moment a quad bike rider rammed into a police car before flipping over the bonnet. Cops spotted the vehicle with no registration plate at about 9pm on Tuesday in Kensington, Merseyside. Video footage then captured him reversing into a parked car before ramming the police car a second time. He narrowly missed an officer before losing control of the quad bike. The rider flipped the vehicle onto its side over the police car's bonnet and he landed upside down. He was then detained at the scene, according to Merseyside Police. The quad bike rider was taken to hospital for assessment and later discharged, confirmed cops. A 29-year-old man from Everton was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and without insurance and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property. The man was assessed in hospital and later taken onto police custody to be interviewed. Chief Inspector Steve Robinson said: 'Thankfully no officers were hurt during the course of this incident, but the results of the suspect's reckless actions could have been far worse. Promising Barnet academy star dies at 18 in serious crash as League Two club release heartbreaking statement 'We will never tolerate people who put the safety of themselves and other road users at risk by driving uninsured vehicles with no licence in a dangerous manner. 'Our officers turn up to work every day knowing they could face challenging and dynamic situations. They do so willingly because they are committed to protecting the public from harm. 'But there can never be any excuse for anyone deliberately driving at officers knowing full well that their actions could cause serious injury or worse. 'Our officers were on proactive patrol to disrupt criminality and keep our communities in Liverpool safe. "The last thing they should have to be dealing with is a suspect ramming their vehicle in this way and we are determined to ensure the person responsible is brought to justice.' Cops are ramping up activity across Merseyside as part of the Safer Streets Summer initiative. This includes enhanced high-visibility patrols in hotspot areas for serious violence, ASB, theft, and robbery. The Safer Streets Summer campaign forms part of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee announced by the Government earlier this month. As part of this, every neighbourhood in England and Wales will have dedicated teams spending their time on the beat, with guaranteed police patrols in town centres and other hotspot areas at peak times.

Woman mauled by ‘pocket bully' which ‘sunk its teeth into her leg' leaving her ‘traumatised'
Her own dog was injured in the attack too DOG HORROR Woman mauled by 'pocket bully' which 'sunk its teeth into her leg' leaving her 'traumatised' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A WOMAN has told how she was left traumatised after being mauled by an "pocket bully" in a savage attack. Gina Evans, from Bournemouth, was bitten on her left calf by the dog on July 1. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 A woman was mauled by an "pocket bully" that sunk its teeth into her leg Credit: BNPS 3 Gina Evans has been left traumatised by the incident Credit: BNPS 3 Gina's dog also suffered three puncture wounds in the savage attack Credit: BNPS Gina was rushed to hospital after the attack where she stayed for four days and required 22 stitches in her injured leg. Since then, she says her life has been "absolute hell". Her own dog was also left with three puncture wounds despite her frantic attempts to protect it. The "pocket bully" attacked after Gina returned to her home after walking the dog that afternoon. 'I put my dog behind me to stop her from getting hurt and he just sunk his teeth into my leg,' she said. Gina has been left traumatised by the incident and has been "stuck between four walls" since, adding she's been thinking about moving house as a result. On one visit to the vet, she recalls how a dog of the same breed was in there at the same time. "It was muzzled and oh my god, I was sweating," she said. Upon her return from hospital, she found the dog hadn't been put down after attacking her. Instead, she discovered it had been sold to another family with two children. Moment black bear creeps into family home - before being chased away by TINY dog This is despite Gina having had run-ins with the same dog on previous occasions too. The daylight mauling last month marked the fourth time it had tried to attack Gina and her dog. On one such occasion she was forced to throw her pet over a nearby wall to stop it being attacked. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At around 4.20pm on Tuesday July 1 2025, we received a report from the ambulance service that the victim – a local woman aged in her 50s – had been bitten by a dog in Campbell Road in Bournemouth, sustaining a serious leg injury. "She attended hospital for treatment to her injury. "Officers have directly spoken to the dog owner and enquiries are ongoing. "The victim has been updated with developments of the investigation. "We would advise members of the public to continue to report incidents of this nature to us so we can investigate further and take appropriate action." This follows a spate of dangerous dog attacks in recent weeks. Just last week, a victim of a suspected XL Bully attack was forced to climb over a fence and leap into a river to escape the crazed dog. It left the man hospitalised with police now appealing for information to track down the owner. That same week a seven-year-old boy was left with serious injuries after he was mauled by a dangerously out-of-control XL Bully too. He was savaged by his own family dog in the kitchen of his home suffering serious injuries.
