People trying to defame Kanwar Yatris: Adityanath
"We have to keep in mind that where there is enthusiasm and excitement, where there is faith and devotion, some elements are constantly trying to disturb that enthusiasm and to defame this devotion and faith," Mr. Adityanath said at an event here.
Social media is replete with videos showing apparent Kanwar yatris, wearing the saffron associated with them, creating ruckus on roads, ransacking hotels, damaging vehicles, and beating civilians.
Mr. Adityanath claimed there are "miscreants" who infiltrate kanwar groups and bring them bad names.
"Unmask them, keep them away from you at all costs. Do not allow them to enter your circle. Immediately inform the administration about this," he said.
On Friday, Mr. Adityanath had said that efforts were being made to defame Kanwar pilgrims, and they are being termed "terrorists and rioters."
Three kanwariyas were arrested for allegedly assaulting a CRPF jawan following an argument over train tickets at the Mirzapur railway station here, an official said on Sunday.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was going to catch the Brahmaputra Express, while the kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) also wanted to buy tickets for the same train for going to Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand.
An argument broke out between them over purchasing the tickets.

Two kanwariyas killed, 1 injured after truck hits motorbike in Moradabad
Moradabad (UP), Jul 28 (PTI) Two kanwariyas were on Monday killed and another was seriously injured when a speeding truck ran over their motorcycle here while they were returning from Haridwar with holy Ganga water, police said. Akash (19), Madhav Ram (20) and Amar Singh (20), all residents of Karua Tal village under Aonla police station in Bareilly district, had gone to Haridwar for the Kanwar Yatra on Sunday. The trio was returning on a single motorcycle carrying Gangajal when the incident took place near the Parag factory in Moradabad. A fast-moving truck reportedly rammed into their motorcycle, killing Akash and Madhav Ram on the spot. Amar Singh sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the district hospital, the police said. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the accident and efforts are underway to trace him, they added. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. CRPF jawan shot dead in Haryana's Gohana, days after brawl with village men during Kanwar Yatra
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was shot dead outside his residence late Sunday in Gohana in Haryana's Sonipat, days after he allegedly had a brawl with a few unidentified persons during the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar. The police said the family of the deceased, identified as Krishan Kumar, a resident of Kheri Damkan village in Gohana, rushed him to the nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Kumar, who was posted in Chhattisgarh, had come home on leave about a month ago. He is survived by his wife and two children, one of whom was born three days ago. His wife is still in the hospital. 'Krishan had gone to Haridwar on July 22 for Kanwar Yatra. During that visit, he had a heated argument and a brawl with a few men from his village. It was late Sunday night that a few men from the village called Krishan out of his home at about 1 am Monday. The moment he stepped out of his home, he was shot at,' said Shrikant, Additional Commissioner of Police, Gohana. 'Hearing the gunshots, Krishan's family members rushed towards him, where he was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,' Shrikant added. Investigating officers said Kumar's family have named three men – Ajay, Anand, and Nishant of the same village — whom they suspect of killing their son. 'The FIR has been registered and multiple teams have been constituted to nab the accused who are yet at large,' one of the investigating police officers said. The police said they have constituted four teams, and are investigating the matter to identify and nab the assailants. Kumar's family members told the police that his wife was in the hospital after delivering the baby, and he had spent the entire Sunday with her. He had returned home late at night to take some rest. They said he was recruited about 11 years ago, and got married about seven years ago. His elder son is six years old, while the younger son was born three days ago. He had taken a one-month leave and reached home on July 16.

In a tragic incident, 8 pilgrims lost their lives while more than 30 were injured in a stampede near the Mansa Devi temple on the morning of July 27, triggering chaos that survivors say could have been prevented. Most of the victims were from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, drawn to the temple during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. The panic broke out on the steep, crowded road leading up to the temple when conflicting accounts sparked confusion and fear. Some claim rumours of an electric current spreading through the area caused people to flee. Others say it started when local shopkeepers began hitting devotees with sticks to clear the way. Vikas, a devotee from Bareilly, said the situation unraveled quickly after the temple doors were closed. 'People were returning, saying darshan was over. Then suddenly someone shouted that there was an electric current. Everyone panicked and started running," Vikas recalled. The crush of people heading both toward and away from the temple funneled into a narrow passage near the market. Anita Kumari, who was visiting with her family, said, 'There was no space to move. Those returning shouted that the temple was closed. People got scared and started running back. Everyone began pushing." Amid the chaos, tragedy struck. Anita lost her 13-year-old nephew in the melee. Her 5-year-old niece survived but suffered injuries. If police had been stationed there, this wouldn't have happened, she said, holding back tears. 'There was no one to control the crowd. No barriers. Nothing," Anita added. Another woman, Nirmala, tried to shield her children by throwing herself on top of them. Her 13-year-old son died while her younger daughter suffered a fractured leg and required 14 stitches. 'I heard people screaming, 'Go back! The temple is closed!'" Nirmala recounted. But the exit was jammed. People trampled each other, she said. Durga Devi, who had come from Bihar for darshan, said the crush near the market was intensified by people moving in opposite directions. 'Everyone was shouting. People going for darshan and those returning collided in the same spot. Suddenly, people were pushing from all sides," Durga reminisced. But perhaps the most disturbing detail came from multiple victims who claimed shopkeepers worsened the situation. Instead of offering help, some began using sticks to disperse the crowd. 'The shopkeepers were beating people with lathis," Durga Devi said, adding, 'They could've let us into their shops to rest. Instead, they hit us. That's when people really started to panic. Whoever fell got trampled." Soon after the stampede, Haridwar police and disaster response teams rushed to the spot and began evacuating the injured to the district hospital. The hospital quickly turned into a crisis center as families rushed in, looking for missing relatives. Officials are yet to release a formal cause of the incident.
