Everton agree £350m refinancing package for new stadium
The funding, sources with knowledge of the process say has been arranged by the US financial services company JP Morgan, replaces borrowing that supported the construction of the new 52,888-capacity venue, set to be opened early next season.

In a statement on Thursday, Everton said the 'offering was oversubscribed multiple times, ensuring competitive terms beneficial to the club'.
Under previous owner Farhad Moshiri, Everton had been increasingly reliant on short-term, high-interest loans sometimes as high as 15 per cent. The new deal, secured predominantly against the new stadium, is said to see interest payments more than halved.
It continues the financial restructuring of the club under new owner, The Friedkin Group (TFG), which completed its takeover in December. One of TFG's first acts was to significantly reduce Everton's debt, which at one stage had sat at around £1bn, by paying off long-term lenders like Rights and Media Funding and converting most of their own loans into equity.

A breathless and brilliant first look at Everton's £760m new home
Designed by the American architect Dan Meis, the Everton Stadium is set to open in August, in time for the start of the new Premier League season. As well as hosting games at the 2028 European Championship, the club estimate it will generate an additional £1.3bn to the local economy. It is likely to host events 365 days a year, with sporting events and conferences part of its offering.
Everton hope the move from Goodison Park, their home since 1892, can unlock higher revenues after a period of financial turmoil and help improve fortunes on the pitch. During Moshiri's time, the club slumped from mid-table to perennial relegation battles. The process to secure naming rights for the new stadium is already well underway.
Everton held the first of three test events last month, with the club's under-18 side hosting Wigan in front of 10,000 fans. The next event scheduled for Sunday, March 23, will involve an under-23 game in front of a crowd of around 25,000. A final test event, close to capacity, is still to be scheduled.
Most of the stadium is now complete, but work is ongoing to finish corporate boxes and bars ahead of the new season.
Everton are 16th in the Premier League table, 15 points clear of relegation after a run of seven games unbeaten under manager David Moyes. They are next in action on Saturday when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace: Eberechi Eze free-kick controversially ruled out in goalless derby
Chelsea made an underwhelming start to the Premier League season as Crystal Palace ground out a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. After a truncated pre-season following victory in the Club World Cup, everything pointed to a Chelsea side lacking both preparation and rest as Oliver Glasner's team coped relative easily with a new-look yet disjointed attack. Eberechi Eze started for Palace despite speculation he is about to leave and, if there were doubts about how supporters felt about the player whose goal won them the FA Cup in May, they were dispelled when he was substituted to a standing ovation late on. The England international provided the game with its only major talking point, lashing in a brilliant free-kick in the first half that was ruled out after Marc Guehi obstructed Chelsea's wall, drawing a furious response from Palace fans. As expected, Nicolas Jackson was not in Enzo Maresca's squad after being made surplus to requirements, with Newcastle considering a bid, while Joao Pedro was preferred at number nine to fellow new signing Liam Delap. Chelsea were playing 35 days after their win over Paris St Germain in the Club World Cup final in the United States and showed signs of mental fatigue in a first-half display low on creativity. Marc Cucurella had the first of their only two chances, his near-post header looping towards the far corner where it was nodded off the line by the leaping Ismaila Sarr. Eze looked to have obliged the headline writers after 15 minutes with an unstoppable free-kick that flew through the middle of the Chelsea wall and in, only for a VAR check to reveal Guehi had unfairly forced Moises Caicedo out of the ball's path. Moments later Jean-Philippe Mateta broke into the box but shot too close to Robert Sanchez, who bounced the effort to safety. There was little worthy of home fans' enthusiasm in attack in the first half, but they showed raucous appreciation for a wonderfully-timed, full-blooded tackle on Daniel Munoz by 19-year-old Josh Acheampong, making a third Premier League start in central defence, with Levi Colwill a long-term absentee and Wesley Fofana not risked. With Maresca having been told to seek internal solutions to his lack of defensive options, the academy graduate staked a convincing claim for regular game time with a display of maturity and fulsome grit that was warmly received by an otherwise subdued crowd. The best Chelsea chance of the half fell to Trevoh Chalobah, who fired high from eight yards after good work from debutant Jamie Gittens. Estevao Willian was sent on in the 53rd minute for a debut and, with his first action, annihilated Guehi in a foot race down the right before crossing brilliantly for Enzo Fernandez, who failed to make good contact. The Brazil international, still only 18 despite the hype surrounding his arrival from Palmeiras, betrayed his inexperience minutes later when striking wildly over the bar when off balance before being booked for lunging at Munoz. Eze was again almost the story when he drilled at goal and brought a two-handed save from Sanchez, then at the other end substitute Delap shot straight at Dean Henderson.

(Video): Chelsea's big chance to win wasted by Brazilian sub
Chelsea have just drawn their first game of the season 0-0 at Stamford Bridge. It was a game that promised a lot to start with, but after a bright start the Blues' tempo dropped and they never really recovered it. They had very little in terms of cohesive attacking play, and Dean Henderson in the Crystal Palace had an easy game in the end. Even the injection of Estevao Willian in the second period only brought a brief spark. Given Palace scored a disallowed goal, this was a disappointing day out. Andrey Santos wastes Chelsea's best chance to win Enzo Maresca looks to the skies after Andrey Santos' miss. There was one moment right at the death where the Blues had the chance to steal 3 points. Marc Cucurella and Liam Delap finally managed to create something down the left, and the full back cut the ball back into the box where Andrey Santos was running onto it. The sub had to do better – he spooned the chance miles over and you could see from the reactions of his teammates and his manager that they knew that was the moment to win it. You can see Santos' chance in the clips embedded here: [Footage from Sky Sports] [Footage from Charlie Patrick] Chelsea need to work on attacking combination play to make weapons effective This was only game one, and there's a lot more to come. But after such a positive summer, with a win in the Club World Cup and two impressive showings in our friendlies last week, it felt like a worrying return to We've added so much attacking quality in the transfer market, yet it counted for nothing today. Joao Pedro wasn't able to do anything leading the line, and there was little supply to him from the midfield from out wide.
