Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 in for review
The Galaxy Z Fold7 has arrived at the office, and that means it's time to unbox it. There are no surprises here - you get a SIM tool and a USB-C cable. Samsung does give you the 512GB storage for the base price during the pre-order period, which is nice!
The phone is available in Blue, Black, and Silver, and will ship from July 25.
Samsung finally gave the cover screen a regular aspect of 21:9, and along with the much slimmer and lighter body the Galaxy Z Fold7 really feels like a regular phone when closed.
It's something you need to experience in real life, so go to your local store and hold the Galaxy Z Fold7 for a while!
A great cover display
When open, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is now a more expansive canvas than before. It's a noticeable difference from the Galaxy Z Fold6, too.
Also, unlike the vivo X Fold5 and its glossy, slightly-rounded frame, the Galaxy Z Fold7's flat and matte sides are easier to pry open.
Speaking of the frame, here it is compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Ultra is thinner at 8.2mm, though it's not immediately noticeable when looking at the two side-by-side.
Side-by-side with the Galaxy S25 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Fold7 snagged the main camera from the Galaxy S25 Ultra. We know what the 200MP imager can do. It's an excellent performer with superb dynamic range, colors, and excellent detail retention! It's a big step up from the Galaxy Z Fold6's main shooter.
The ultrawide got autofocus, which is a nice touch!
Sadly, Samsung kept the 4,400mAh battery from the Galaxy Z Fold6, and even sadder, it only charges at a maximum of 25 watts. That's very disappointing in 2025 and given this phone's competition. Anyway - there's a lot to test on this one, so we'll now be handing it over to our experts to do their magic! Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 256GB 12GB RAM € 2,099.00

Google and Samsung are making me more and more excited about the Pixel 10 series
For a lot of mobile tech enthusiasts (and especially hardcore Android fans) out there, the most exciting product announcements of 2025 might already be in the rearview mirror. If you had asked me at the very beginning of the year, I'd have probably expected to be in a similar position by now, as I was also mainly looking forward to Samsung's two big 2025 Unpacked events. But with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 7 globally unveiled at last, my excitement... for a totally different device (or four) is unexpectedly growing. That's right, I am now looking forward with (cautious) delight to Google's Pixel 10 series launch next month for a couple of key reasons. While a little optimism never hurt anyone (or anything), too much of it can definitely set unrealistic expectations for an unannounced family of high-end handsets and thus substantially reduce the chances of said handsets ever achieving commercial success. So, yes, I may have hoped for a few seconds a couple of months ago that at least one member of the Pixel 10 lineup would be cheaper than its Pixel 9 series counterpart, but realistically, the best case scenario was always one with unchanged price points across the board. The Pixel 10 Pro is likely to come with a familiar design and a familiar price point. The "vanilla" Pixel 10 ? If it retains the Pixel 9 's base $799 pricing (as has been rumored for several months now), its value proposition might prove unrivaled hard to rival, especially when Samsung is likely to come dangerously close to that mark with a potentially underwhelming Galaxy S25 FE soon. It's as if Samsung is intentionally trying to make Google look good, which brings me to quite possibly the search giant's biggest mobile hardware achievement this year. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold may look repetitive at first glance, but these images don't tell the full story. Of course, then you've got the likes of the Honor Magic V5, which packs a truly ginormous (by any standards) 6,100mAh battery in China, but obviously, that's a different (regional) story. In the (inexplicable) absence of a OnePlus Open 2, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could well become a US battery life champion, which I know is something we've all wished for at least once in the last couple of years. And mind you, while this bad boy certainly doesn't look as thin and as stylish as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in those leaked renders from a while back, its design and overall thickness seem very close to what the Pixel 9 Pro Fold currently offers. That means Google might be able to considerably boost the battery size and slightly expand the cover screen real estate without adding much bulk, which sounds like an amazing engineering feat. Maybe even more amazing (at least in my book) than Samsung making the Z Fold 7 4.2mm thin in unfolded form. Oh, and let's not forget that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has also been expected for a little while to offer IP68 water and dust resistance, thus beating the (theoretical) durability of all its key US rivals. That's yet another major detail that's practically etched in stone after the latest report on this device, as well as another big reason why I'm more excited than ever for Google's August product launch event. Analysts: the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are headed for record-breaking pre-orders in Korea
Analysts are keeping a close eye on pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in South Korea and they are forecasting record-breaking numbers. Looking back at the last couple of generations, the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 set the record with over 1 million pre-orders (1.02 million, specifically) back in 2023. The Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 from last year failed to reach that benchmark. Pre-order reservations on reached 160,000 in the 14 days since reservations opened on June 24. This was before the official reveal on July 9, but is used by analysts as a starting point to calculate record-breaking domestic demand for the new foldables. There's no mention of the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, but maybe its numbers are being rolled into Z Flip7 stats. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 It should be noted that this prediction is for the South Korean market, which is affected by factors not related to the quality and upgrades of the new Z foldables. For example, SK Telecom was recently hit by a hacking incident, which is driving subscribers away. KT and LG U+ are happy to snatch up those subscribers. SK Telecom is offering attractive deals on the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 to try and claw back some market share. Related to that, Korea repealed the Device Distribution Improvement Act, which mandated that details of carrier subsidy deals should be made public. Prior to that, carriers were offering up to KRW 500,000 in subsidies – with the most recent changes, the subsidies can go up as carriers try to attract new subscribers. Samsung is happy for the extra business, of course. Source (in Korean) Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE 5G

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE camera: All you need to know
Although Samsung has released all kinds of Galaxy phones so far this year, it's far from over for the largest Android manufacturer out there, as another Galaxy S25 version is reportedly scheduled to arrive later this year (possibly in October). That's right, the Galaxy S25 FE is likely coming sometime around October with a design that's very closely following the Galaxy S25 and pretty much the same hardware as the mid-sized flagship phone. The Galaxy S25 FE will be thinner and lighter in contrast with the Galaxy S24 FE, with an Armor Aluminum build, the Exynos 2400 chipset, a larger battery with faster charging, and finally, a 6.7-inchFHD+ display with a 1-120 Hz refresh rate. Overall, this phone shapes up to be a very decent successor to the Galaxy S24 FE , but it remains to be seen if all these rumored changes will turn out to be real. Apparently, the Galaxy S25 FE will come with the same camera system as the Galaxy S24 FE . This means that we will likely get a 50MP main camera with an F1.8 aperture, an 8MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom, and finally a 12MP ultrawide camera. No hardware changes in the main camera system, as far as we can see. The only change that's hinted to be coming to the Galaxy S25 FE is a new 12MP selfie camera, a slight upgrade from the 10MP one on the Galaxy S24 FE . This 12MP selfie camera will most certainly turn out to be the same one that's currently making the rounds on the rest of the Galaxy S25 range, so we expect it to be an autofocusing one. Here's how the Galaxy S25 FE will likely stack up against the Galaxy S24 FE if we take all these rumors into account. These days, software plays an equal, if not a bigger part inimage processingg than hardware. Time and time again, Samsung has revealed that it can greatly shake up the image processing and therefore the image quality between two phone generations that come with basically the same hardware at the back. This makes us think that even though the Galaxy S25 FE will carry the same rear cameras as its predecessor, it might take drastically different photos and videos. Remains to be seen what direction will be taken with this upcoming phone. Galaxy S24 FE camera spider chart (Image by PhoneArena) The few proverbial flies in the ointment were the slight oversharpening with the telephoto camera and the inconsistent color science, which sometimes delivered too oversaturated colors. Video quality had room for improvement, too. All of those issues sound like they can be fixed with software and algorithm optimizations, as the hardware on board will definitely have the same potential as the Galaxy S24 FE . Overall, we are pretty optimistic about the Galaxy S25 FE's potential performance in our custom camera test, where it might perform just as well as the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup.
