Japanese Stock Indices decline amid U.S. tariff concerns

Tokyo – Saba:
Japanese stock indices fell on Wednesday due to concerns surrounding the upper house elections in parliament and the fate of trade negotiations with the United States, overshadowing gains made by chip-related stocks.
The Nikkei index dropped 0.09% to 39,642.4 points, fluctuating between minor gains and losses, while the broader Topix index declined 0.29% to 2,817.05 points.
Shares of Tokyo Electron and Advantest, both linked to the semiconductor sector, rose by 2.94% and 0.9%, respectively, following gains in Nvidia's stock, which surged 4%.
Nvidia's stock jumped after the AI chip leader announced plans to resume sales of its H20 AI chip to China, pushing the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite to a record high at closing.
Meanwhile, shares of Toho, the production company behind the Godzilla film series, soared 10.06% after raising its annual net profit forecast. In contrast, Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, fell 1.2%, putting additional pressure on the Nikkei.
Toyota Motor shares lost 0.93% despite the yen weakening to a three-month low against the U.S. dollar.

Disco Corporation also saw a sharp decline, with its shares tumbling 8.79%, following quarterly operating profit forecasts that fell short of market expectations. According to the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Nikkei 225 index, which includes 225 listed companies, closed the session down 0.21%, ending at 39,819.11 points. On the other hand, SoftBank Group, a major investor in the tech sector, surged 5%, becoming the top gainer and providing key support to the index. Tokyo Electron, a chip equipment manufacturer, also rebounded slightly, gaining 0.29% after early-session losses. Gaza Civil Defense carries out 28 missions within 24 hours

Gaza – Saba: Despite the ongoing military operations by the Israeli occupation forces and the continued genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip carried out 28 missions in the past 24 hours. According to its daily report, received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Civil Defense stated that its teams carried out these missions across Gaza governorates from Friday morning until Saturday morning. The report noted that the operations included one firefighting mission, two rescue operations, 20 ambulance missions, and five other tasks. In North Gaza Governorate, Civil Defense teams recovered the bodies of two martyrs and rescued eight injured individuals following an Israeli strike on a group of civilians in the Jabalia Al-Nazla area. One person wounded by a drone strike was transported from al-Mashtal area, and another burn victim was evacuated from a soup kitchen fire in al-Mashtal camp. Additionally, four medical cases were transferred from the Abu Iskandar and Al-Saftawi neighborhoods in Sheikh Radwan to Al-Shifa Hospital for treatment. In Gaza Governorate, two wounded individuals were transported to al-Shifa Hospital after an Israeli strike on an apartment in the Shahibar building at Al-Abbas intersection. In the Central Governorate, Civil Defense teams transferred a medical case from their home in al-Nuseirat to al-Aqsa Hospital. In the south, specifically in Khan Younis Governorate, two injured individuals were evacuated to Nasser Hospital following a strike on the Ahmad family home in the Japanese neighborhood. The remains of a martyr were recovered from a previously targeted home belonging to the Suhweil family in Khan Younis camp. One person injured by a drone strike in al-Buraq area was transported to Nasser Hospital, and another wounded individual from a group of civilians targeted near Asdaa Prison was also transferred there. In Rafah Governorate, Civil Defense teams transported two individuals wounded by an Israeli quadcopter drone to the European Hospital, evacuated another gunshot victim from Al-Teenah Street to Nasser Hospital, and recovered the body of a martyr from the Bir 19 area to Nasser Hospital.
