Cincinnati Bengals should target these best remaining free agents
The Cincinnati Bengals did some big things on the first day of the NFL free agency tampering window. But plenty of needs remain across the roster -- and free agency has some big names the team could sign.
So far, the Bengals have mostly focused on defense, adding outsiders at linebacker and in the defensive trenches. They also kept some familiar faces with B.J. Hill and Joseph Ossai. They even blended both re-adding Samaje Perine.
Now, here's a quick look at a few names on the market at positions of need the Bengals should target next.
Cody Ford isn't going to be the answer as a starting guard and they aren't paying him as such. Adding a longtime veteran like Scherff would lock up a starting spot and still give them wiggle room to draft a rookie who can compete at the other guard spot.
Don't sleep on Becton, a guy Bengals fans liked last year. He switched to guard and enjoyed a resurgence on the way to a Super Bowl in Philadelphia. He'd be a plug-and-play starter on the interior.
The Bengals obviously don't want to break the bank on a pass-rusher. But they still don't have enough proven pressure coming from the edge right now. Ojulari feels like a still-ascending player who will need to settle for a cheaper prove-it deal, perhaps putting him in their price range.
Why not go after another old friend? The Bengals locked down a nose tackle in free agency already. Adding more versatile pass-rushing juice to the rotation with a guy like Ogunjobi on a cheaper contract would be a nice way to guarantee solid depth all season.

Are Brian Schottenheimer's Cowboys Sneaking Under The Offseason Radar?
Are Brian Schottenheimer's Cowboys Sneaking Under The Offseason Radar? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Brian Schottenheimer era for the Dallas Cowboys has gotten off to a steady start, with the energy and vibes in the building being noticed. Advertisement Plus, the free agency and draft hauls have, for the most part, been lauded with holes being plugged and a handful of starters coming with George Pickens, the pick of the bunch when it comes to the franchise's moves. Still, many are unsure of precisely what the expectations should be for Schottenheimer's first season. Some have playoffs, others have Dallas missing altogether. Fox Sports' Henry McKenna predicts that Dallas will finish with a 10-7 record and secure the seventh seed in the NFC. "For all the criticism surrounding Jerry Jones, he has put together a nice offseason, addressing the help the Cowboys needed at premium positions," McKenna wrote. "They actually have the fifth-hardest strength of schedule. But if you look at their depth chart from top to bottom, they are absurdly talented. Dallas has looked foolish in headlines this offseason, but this team is way more dangerous than we think." Advertisement If we are being truthful, that would be a relatively successful season for Schotty in Year 1. Yes, it isn't what this franchise or fan base wants. They want a Super Bowl, but as Schottenheimer stated this week, it's a process. Winning 10 games and making the playoffs would be validation that Dallas is on the right track under Schotty. Plus, that means the franchise takes it up to both the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, two teams considered to be at the top of the NFC pecking order. And that would constitute a very good season for the Cowboys. Cowboys Icon Highlights Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Hypocrisy
Cowboys Icon Highlights Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Hypocrisy originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - According to a former Dallas Cowboys star, the Pittsburgh Steelers have jumped from the frying pan right into the fire. Advertisement When the Steelers traded talented-but-temperamental receiver George Pickens to the Cowboys, rumors out of Pittsburgh surfaced that one of the reasons they gave up on him was his penchant for creating locker-room drama and distractions. Iron-fisted, football-first head coach Mike Tomlin doesn't put up with nonsense, the theory went. Until ... hello, Aaron Rodgers. Not sure what happened to Tomlin — did he go "soft" overnight? — but the Steelers want their fans to believe that Rodgers won't be the distraction they claimed Pickens was. It is Rodgers, remember, who claims that 9/11 was an inside job, that he knows more about COVID than Dr. Anthony Fauci, and that he could simply "manifest" a Super Bowl with the New York Jets with positive thoughts and vibes. He also flirted with a political career last summer and then skipped a Jets minicamp to vacation in Egypt. Advertisement On the field, Rodgers' mediocre play helped lead to a 1-4 start that got both the head coach and general manager fired. After a 5-12 season, the Jets let him walk. He is 41, and the lone Super Bowl of his 20-year career came in 2011. It was Cowboys content creator Jordan Tucker who first pointed out Pittsburgh's hypocrisy on social media. Then Dez Bryant chimed in. Wrote Tucker, "Imagine moving on from George Pickens thinking he was a locker room distraction only to end up with Aaron Rodgers as your QB." Added Dez, "You said it." To be fair, Dez knew his way around a distraction or two during his Cowboys career. And soon after agreeing with Tucker, Bryant glowed about the prospect of Rodgers succeeding in Pittsburgh. Advertisement Wrote Dez, "I think Aaron Rodgers is going to ball in Pittsburgh." Despite that seeming flip-flop, Dez's initial point stands: The Steelers rid themselves of a player who causes distractions to save their season, and have now signed a player notorious for causing distractions in an attempt to save their season. Cowboys' Micah Parsons Offers Interesting Contract Update
Cowboys' Micah Parsons Offers Interesting Contract Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. OK, we get it, people have had enough of hearing about Micah Parsons and his contract situation with the Dallas Cowboys, as it looks set to continue well into the offseason. Advertisement But one key "deadline," if you will, for Micah and his contract is training camp, with Parsons already stating his desire to have it signed, sealed, and delivered by then. However, before that, mandatory minicamp will take place at The Star next week, and many were wondering if Micah will attend. Well, he put that to bed with a post on X, but he might also have had a subtle little dig at owner Jerry Jones over his contract situation. "I will be there! I haven't missed a mini camp in 4 years! Even though the contract is not done, I have teammates and a playbook ! I'm preparing as if I will be on the field the first week of camp! But it's in the owner's hands. I'm ready to win a Super Bowl !" Micah Parsons Jerry JonesBy Tony Fisher Now, we know the love Micah has for Jerry, and there is no ill will between the pair, but Parsons stating "it's in the owner's hands" when it comes to his contract suggests that the contract ball is well and truly in Mr. Jones' court. Advertisement Consider it a message. With Micah expected to sign a new deal in the region of $40 million APY and over five years, he might be telling the football world that he's ready to sign on the dotted line, but that Jerry isn't. Again, we know there isn't any hateful conflict here, and we know that Micah and Jerry have talked face-to-face on the subject at least three times ... but that it's been more than six weeks since their last session. But in the end? Micah's latest statement just let everyone know that when it comes to his contract, he believes it's on Jerry Jones to pull the trigger.
