CID's Dayanand Shetty recalls how an accidental touch from his finger left his co-star's nose bleeding: ‘Just happened once in two decades'

' Daya, darwaza tod do' — the iconic dialogue etched in every CID fan's memory — is a testament to the character's strength, something that actor Dayanand Shetty had to be mindful of while filming. Shetty recently revealed that he had to be extremely cautious while performing scenes where his character was supposed to slap his co-actor, as his powerful athletic build could unintentionally injure them. Before entering the film and television industry, Shetty was a professional athlete pursuing a career in shot put, but a knee injury ended his journey in sports.
While Shetty's background in sports has benefited various aspects of his acting career, the strength he gained from years of training also posed a potential risk to those working with him on set. However, he also insisted that he makes sure he is very careful and doesn't injure anyone. In an interaction with Filmee Keeda, Shetty disclosed that he was always particular about avoiding physical contact with co-stars during intense scenes. He said, 'I have broken many doors on CID set but I would never make contact with anyone's face while slapping them.'
Recalling how even a slight touch from him once caused injury, he shared, 'Once my fingers touched someone's nose during a slapping scene and he started bleeding. It can be that dangerous but that happened only once in my 22-year CID career. Otherwise, I never made contact to anyone's face. It looks real on screen.'
CID has been one of the longest-running television shows in India. It began airing in 1998 and ran for 20 years before going off air in 2018. However, due to popular demand, the makers revived the show in 2024 on Sony TV, and it also started streaming on Netflix. Despite the nostalgia and fanfare, the show has been struggling with low TRPs in its new season.
In January 2025, reports indicated that the show recorded 65 percent lower television ratings compared to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, another long-running TV series. According to BARC's TRP report for Week 2 of 2025, the show managed a viewership rating of just 0.8. The exit of actor Shivaji Satam, who portrayed the iconic role of ACP Pradyuman, also significantly impacted the show's viewership.

Shetty also recalled a key moment during the shoot of To Chalun when the team was unsure how to portray the soldier's emotional farewell to his wife. Patriotism at the Core of the Scene Explaining how the scene unfolded, Suniel said that as his character looks up at the sky, the sound of the MIG symbolizes the ever-present call of duty. Viral Video: Actress Ruchi Gujjar Slaps, Hits Producer With Sandal At Film Premiere. Watch

New Delhi: The premiere of the Hindi crime thriller So Long Valley turned chaotic on Friday night after actress-model Ruchi Gujjar publicly confronted and allegedly slapped director-producer Karan Singh during the film's launch event. What's Happening In the video that surfaced online, Ruchi Gujjar is seen arguing with the producers before hitting one of them with her sandals. She appeared at the screening with a group of protestors, some of whom were seen raising slogans against the producers. Protestors held placards featuring the producers' photos marked with red crosses, and some posters depicted them sitting on donkeys. The incident, which was caught on video during the event, went viral on social media. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Bollywood News (@bolly_newssss) Background Ruchi Gujjar accused Karan Singh of cheating her out of Rs 23 lakh under the pretext of launching a television project, which she claims never materialised. She further alleged that Karan had promised her a share in the profit and on-screen credit. According to Mumbai Police, an FIR has been registered against Karan at the Oshiwara police station based on Gujjar's complaint. A police official confirmed the FIR was filed on Thursday under relevant sections for cheating. "The complainant said the project never materialised and Singh didn't return her money," he said. Meanwhile, Gujjar's lawyer said that a separate FIR for assault would be lodged against Singh at Amboli police station. Reacting to the incident, director Man Singh alleged that Gujjar was attempting a "publicity stunt." In a statement, he said Gujjar had tried to get a stay on the film's release, but the court allowed the makers to proceed as planned. "Model Ruchi Gujjar and Karan Singh know each other very well. If she paid some amount to Karan for our movie, she should provide the evidence. It's a publicity stunt, nothing else," he said. According to Gujjar, Karan had approached her last year, claiming he was producing a Hindi television serial that would soon air on Sony TV. "He offered to add me as a co-producer and also sent documents related to the project," she said, according to media reports. She alleged that between July 2023 and January 2024, she made several payments from her company, SR Event and Entertainment, into accounts linked to Karan's K Studios. However, the project was never launched. "Despite repeated contacts, he kept postponing them and lied," she said in her complaint. She also claimed that the funds were allegedly used not for the television project but for the production of So Long Valley. "When I got the information that the film is releasing on July 27, I told him to return my money now, on which he started threatening me," she alleged. So Long Valley is a Hindi-language crime thriller starring Tridha Choudhury and Vikram Kochhar. The film is directed and co-produced by Man Singh.

Suniel Shetty brings a father's fury and heart to ‘Hunter 2'

Suniel Shetty returns as Santha in Hunter Season 2, but this time with a compelling emotional transformation. The actor recently revealed that he approached the character with a fresh perspective, ensuring a deeper, more evolved portrayal in the second season of the action-packed series. In a candid conversation, Shetty confirmed that everything about Santha—his body language, emotional energy, and look—has been reimagined to suit the new arc. While the first season introduced viewers to a rough, carefree Santha, the sequel shifts focus to a father's relentless quest to reunite with his daughter. 'I am very different in this season,' Suniel shared. 'The body language is different. The look is different. The emotions are different. Carefree and careless, Santha was in the first. Here, it is more about family. That is his only objective.' The actor described his character's evolution as one rooted in obsession and determination. 'There is no disturbance, but no other distraction in his life. He wants his daughter back and at any cost. Like any father, my obsession is Tia Nahan. I don't think beyond that,' he added. Shetty hopes that his performance captures the emotional weight of a desperate father, saying, 'If I have done justice from that point of view... I think I would have done justice to my role.' Directed by Prince Dhiman and Alok Batra, Hunter 2 also stars Jackie Shroff, Anusha Dandekar, and Barkha Bisht. The series premiered for free on July 24 on Amazon MX Player.
