Invincible Vs is like Mortal Kombat mixed with Killer Instinct
I'm very much okay with that after playing a few rounds for myself following the Xbox Games Showcase this past weekend. Invincible Vs aims to be a very approachable fighting game that can be as casual or hardcore as you want.

The idea here is simple: It's your basic 2D fighting game where players choose teams of three heroes that they can tag between on the fly. If Marvel vs. Capcom comes to mind when I say that, that's partially accurate, but there's a lot more to it than that. In fact, everything I'm about to describe will probably make a lot more sense to you when I tell you that the new studio developing it is largely made up of the devs who made Killer Instinct.
The core combat has me juggling attacks and special on my four face buttons. I can perform grabs and counters by pressing different buttons together, keeping all the basics centralized to one place. I could pick up the basics of fighting very quickly, as the team built its combo system to be fairly approachable. For instance, if I just hammer my light attack, I'll perform an instant special of sorts. You don't have to memorize long combo strings to pull off something that looks cool.
The complexity builds from there. On the right side of my controller, I can dash with the bumper. If I hop into the air and hold the right trigger, I can perform an even longer dash that more or less lets me fly for a moment. That movement system adds some superheroic action to the mix, as there's huge potential for sky high aerial combos and dodging here.
The left side of the controller is all about weapons in partners. Holding the left trigger will tag a friend in, but pressing the bumper will send someone in for a mid-combo attack, not dissimilar to the way Mortal Kombat 1 and its Kameos work. Switching characters is important, because a fighter will essentially crash out if their combo meter gets too high. Tagging in a friend resets it, allowing them to create much longer chains.
That might leave you worried that Invincible Vs is the kind of fighting game where you can get stuck in a never-ending juggle, but that's not the case. That's where the studio's Killer Instinct experience really shows. Blocking and countering are very important, as a big attack can be canceled out with the right timing. There's still some skill involved there, though, as players can get tricky with their attack timings, even hitting intentional fake outs that can cause an opponent to block too early and leave them vulnerable. There's a delicate balance between offense and defense here that leads to a lot of momentum shifts in fast-paced fights.
And those brawls are brutal as hell too. Keeping in the spirit of the comic, Invincible Vs approaches Mortal Kombat levels of hyper violence. When a player hits a character that's at low health with a special attack that would kill them, it essentially turns into a fatality. I watched characters like Bulletproof get straight up beheaded by the likes of Atom Eve. Even the level I was playing on didn't make it out unscathed, as it deteriorated more and more with each round. This isn't a fighting game about friendly sparing between competitive friends; it's about people who really want to kill one another.
After playing a few rounds and getting the hang of its tricks, I'm eager to get back in and see how much deeper it goes. It still feels a little more on the casual side to me, and I wonder how high its competitive ceiling will be in the long run, but I get the sense that there's more to the project. For instance, it seems like it will feature some form of story mode that features an original narrative set in the comic universe. If it can deliver that on top of strong brawling that calls both Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct to mind, Skybound Games may just have a blood-soaked hit on its hands.
Invincible Vs launches in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Oprah's Favorite Water Bottle Holder Keeps You Hands-free for Hikes and City Tours
Hydration is important, but having to carry around a water bottle everywhere—especially while traveling—can be a real nuisance. Schlepping it around by hand can wear out your fingers, and holding it by the top handle can make it easy to smack into walls. Not to mention, it disappears so much more easily, as most things do when they're not attached to our bodies. The solution is to wear your water—not on your back like an ultramarathoner, but across your body in a water bottle holder, just like Oprah does. The WanderFull HydroBag—a water bottle holder that's both cute and functional—has earned a spot in her highly-anticipated Favorite Things list twice over. And now, the brand has just rolled out a bunch of cute new styles for summer (pickleball-inspired water bottle carrier, anyone?). When selecting the WanderFull HydroBag for the list in 2023, Oprah called it 'cute and multifunctional,' saying that 'it holds my water bottle when I'm hiking in Maui,' and 'for city walkabouts.' The following year—when she added it to the list again—she noted that it's also great for carrying your phone, keys, cash, and water to the gym. 'This quilted water bottle carrier, with slim zip pockets, holds only the essentials you need,' she added. This crossbody water bottle holder has a cylindrical shape that accommodates bottles up to 3.5 inches in diameter. That means it can hold most popular reusable water bottles, including the Hydro Flask Travel Tumblers, and the wide-bottomed Owala FreeSip in 32 ounces. Whether your reason for buying a water bottle carrier is to free up your hands or keep from scratching, denting, and inevitably losing your treasured $40 water vessel, this clever bottle sling serves all purposes. 'As an adult with autism, I often forget to drink water or misplace things—especially my Stanley cups. The guilt of constantly replacing them adds up, and my sweet husband works so hard to help me. That's why this product truly means so much to me,' one reviewer wrote. 'It's not just helpful—it's perfect. Stylish, functional, and absolutely adorable.' This functional crossbody bag has two zipper-secured pockets—one big enough for a large phone on the outside, and a smaller one for cards and cash on the inside. It's lined with a water-resistant material, in case your bottle leaks, and has a two-inch-thick adjustable strap. The original WanderFull HydroBag comes in a wide array of colors (39, to be exact), but the new summery styles range from black and white tropical flowers to navy with an embroidered nautical anchor emblem. One style is emerald green, complete with embroidered golf clubs and a blue, white, and green strap. Two more sporty options are donned with either tennis rackets or pickleball paddles, while other motifs include colorful coral reef prints, preppy plaids, and a New England-inspired canvas version that features a subtle red lobster. While this listing of the WanderFull HydroBag has only been on Amazon for a few months, it has already garnered a few impressive five-star reviews. One shopper who bought it for the U.S. Open said that they've already gotten 'so many compliments.' adding that it's lightweight and very convenient to use. One shopper who purchased it to wear at Mardi Gras parades gave it a five-star rating, sharing that it had enough space for not just their water bottle but their 'cell phone, ID and debit cards, lip balm, pack of gum, sunscreen, and hair accessories.' They wrote they 'will absolutely use [it] again in a tourist/travel situation.' Plenty of people think that the Oprah-approved WanderFull HydroBag is well worth its $69 price tag—but if you're looking to find a similar bag for less, we found a few options starting at just $22 on Amazon, below. At the time of publishing, the price started at $69. Love a great deal? Sign up for our T+L Recommends newsletter and we'll send you our favorite travel products each week.

San Quentin Media Fest raises funds to help people incarcerated perfect their craft
San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, formerly known as San Quentin State Prison, was known as America's most dangerous prison. Now it's working to help inmates learn skills that they can leverage once released, including filmmaking. "We just out here showing people that just because we made a mistake, don't mean that we are a mistake," said Dante D. Jones. Jones organized the San Quentin Media Fest, but his path to that position took some detours. "I was locked up for 17 years," explained Jones. "When I first came in, there was not even an inkling of an idea that something like the Media Center at San Quentin existed. I was there at San Quentin for about three years. It's where I got my bones in the media world." The Media Center at San Quentin gave him more reason to want to get out. "I didn't know what I wanted to be really, but I found out editing and video, that's my passion," said Jones. "That's what I do. That's what I love to do." He made that dream come true. Now he's working as a videography intern at KALW, Bay Area Public Media. The San Quentin Media Fest is his way to give back. It's a fundraiser for the San Quentin State Prison Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists of Northern California, featuring original short films written and produced by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated filmmakers, curated by Jones. "We're taking control of our own narrative," said Jones. "We're taking control of our own story and allowing people to see who we are as people rather than formerly incarcerated or what they consider criminals. That's the point of having this whole fundraiser because there's guys in there that are in there doing what we were doing in there and trying to do what we're doing now." The funds will help people still incarcerated perfect their craft, so they can get jobs after their release. KALW Executive Producer Ben Trefny was happy to lend their space. "To see the work people are doing and have done inside the Media Center of San Quentin, it's a real treat to see," said Trefny. KALW has been working with people at San Quentin since 2012, providing journalism and communication training. They also hire formerly incarcerated people, like Jones. "Everybody deserves a chance for sure," said Trefny. "I think that, from my experience, and I've been going into San Quentin for over a decade now, almost everybody who I meet there, the reason why they're in prison is because of the worst moment of their lives. We've all had a lot of really bad moments in our lives and for some people, it ends up landing them behind bars." Jones says the people who are utilizing the rehabilitation services at San Quentin, like he did, are trying to make good and they deserve opportunities and support. "Understand that people are in there, trying to change their lives, trying to get right with themselves and understand who they are and trying to be productive citizens once they reach the street," explained Jones.

'All Of Me' (1984) Blu-Ray Review - Steve Martin & Lily Tomlin Elevate Body Swap Comedy
Making its Blu-ray debut, this comedy classic starring legends Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin is a riotous tale of body-swapping misadventures. Bachelor Roger Cobb (Martin) is a lawyer who dreams of playing jazz. Edwina Cutwater (Tomlin) is a millionairess who dreams of inhabiting a new body. But the guru responsible for Edwina's soul relocation goofs, and she ends up in a very different body…Roger's! Now, with one half of himself controlled by Edwina — and his job and sanity in jeopardy — Roger is in for a wild and crazy ride that will show him both what manhood really means, and the hilarity that can result when two literally become one. For thoughts on All of Me, please check out my thoughts on No Streaming Required: Video Quality All of Me finally makes its Blu-Ray debut with a 1080p transfer that is among the weaker ones we have seen from the Vestron line. Even still, it proves to be an upgrade from any previous release. There are no details provided about the origins of the transfer, but this appears to be derived from either an underwhelming source or a dated master that has not had a substantial amount of work done to it. The rumor is that the original film elements were destroyed in the Universal fire in 2008, but we cannot substantiate that claim. The Vestron line is no stranger to using older masters, but consumers may balk at the additional cost that comes from being part of the Lionsgate Limited imprint as opposed to the budget releases from the past several years. We appreciate having this in HD in some form rather than it being MIA forever, but fans should keep expectations in check. The transfer has thankfully not been DNR'd to hell and retains its naturally filmic qualities with only intermittent instances of inconsistent or clumpy grain. This is far from the crispest transfer we have ever seen, but there is some fine detail in the landscapes, production design, and texture of the clothing. Quality shifts from location to location as the film can look either pleasantly clear and detailed or soft and lacking crisp outlines. There are fleeting specks of print damage present in the transfer that did not get cleaned up, but debris is kept to a minimum. Colors are a bit lifeless outside of small bursts of saturation in some of the outdoor events. Largely, the color timing feels a bit askew or anemic. Black levels could use some work, but they are acceptable in their depth. Highlights avoid the worst instances of blooming. We wished this looked better, but it will get the job done who want a passable HD transfer. Audio Quality Lionsgate Home Entertainment brings us this new Blu-Ray with the original lossless theatrical LPCM 2.0 mix that holds up better than the video side of things. The track confidently and accurately reproduces the soundscape of the narrative. Dialogue holds up without issue, coming through clearly without being drowned out by the music or sound effects. The environmental effects are firm, from the milling about at the party to the voiceover taking place within Roger's head. The stereo track really helps the movie feel a bit more spacious. The music that always holds up with top-notch fidelity. This track accomplishes what it sets out to do. Optional English, English (SDH), and Spanish subtitles are provided on this disc. Special Features Audio Commentary: Film Historian Joe Ramoni delivers an informative commentary track in which he discusses the creation of the film, the careers of the talent at the time, the legacy of the film, and so much more. Back In The Bowl – An Interview with Screenwriter Phil Alden Robinson: A new 26-minute interview with the writer in which he discusses the development of the script, learning from Carl Reiner, the unusual collaborations with Lily Tomlin, the evolving nature of various characters, and more. Bodies Behaving Badly – A Video Essay by Film Critic Cerise Howard: A nearly 29-minute visual essay that explores the body swap genre, challenging gender norms, and more. Hilarity Ensues – A Video Essay by Hollywood Historian Staci Layne Wilson: A nearly 17-minute visual essay that explores the comedic output of the stars, how their talents are utilized throughout All of Me , and more. Trailers: This disc provides the Theatrical Trailer (2:35) and the Teaser Trailer (1:29). TV Spots (2:12) Still Gallery (7:18) Final Thoughts All of Me is an amusing outing from Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin that is not name-checked very often when discussing either performer. Tomlin is somewhat hindered by not having a physical presence on screen for much of the runtime, but she makes the most of her role. Martin is given a chance to really tap into his physical comedy prowess, but you should also be on the lookout for some surprising pathos that comes through at different points. It is not the last word on 'body swap' movies, but it is a good time for anyone who enjoys either performer. Lionsgate Home Entertainment has released a new Blu-Ray through their Vestron Video Collector's Series featuring an inconsistent A/V presentation and a valuable array of special features. Recommended All of Me is currently available to purchase on Blu-Ray exclusively through Lionsgate Limited.
