Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 19 (ANI): Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Forest and Wildlife Department of Uttar Pradesh has launched an ambitious plan aimed at preserving the natural habitats of rhinos and other endangered wildlife species, as per a release.
As part of this initiative, two new Rhino Rehabilitation Centres (RRCs) will be developed in the Dudhwa National Park located in Lakhimpur. A total of Rs 1.5 crore has been allocated for this project.
The funds will be used for long-term habitat conservation, staff training, procurement of medicines and equipment, and community awareness efforts regarding wildlife protection.
Additionally, the Forest and Wildlife Department has undertaken a comprehensive conservation project in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh with a focus on the long-term preservation of natural habitats for rhinos and other threatened wildlife.
This project will be implemented specifically in Dudhwa National Park. The primary goal is to ensure sustainable measures for the protection of rhinos' natural habitats. According to Deputy Director of Dudhwa National Park, Rangaraju, Rs 1.5 crore has been sanctioned for the creation of two new natural enclosures - Rhino Rehabilitation Centres - within the park for the protection of rhinos and other endangered species.
Previously, RRC-1 and RRC-2 were established in the national park. The upcoming centres, RRC-3 and RRC-4, will be modelled similarly and will provide open forest space under special monitoring to allow rhinos to thrive in a natural environment while maintaining their instinctive behaviours.
These centres will also contribute to the conservation of other endangered species in the region.
The Deputy Director stated that the allocated funds will be utilised across various conservation activities. Out of the total, Rs 1.27 crore will be used for maintaining the rhinos' natural habitat, including water bodies, suitable vegetation, and area upkeep.
Approximately Rs 7 lakh has been earmarked for medicines and chemicals for wildlife, Rs 4.8 lakh for major construction activities, and Rs 3 lakh for minor infrastructure development.
An additional Rs 7 lakh will be spent on monitoring equipment, machines, and necessary installations.
The project also aims to strengthen anti-poaching surveillance and curb the illegal trade of rhino body parts. To achieve this, training programs will be organized to engage and educate the local communities about wildlife conservation.
The Yogi government's initiative is expected to not only boost the population of rhinos in the state but also enhance the overall biodiversity of the Dudhwa region. (ANI)

SastaSundar to invest Rs 150 crore in 2 yrs, aims turnaround in FY26

SastaSundar Ventures Ltd is in the process of investing Rs 150 crore over the next two years to strengthen its digital healthcare platform and warehousing infrastructure to make a turnaround and return to profit in FY'26, a company official said on Thursday. The investment will largely be funded through a Rs 145-crore capital pool, created from the Flipkart Health exit settlement and internal treasury income. The Kolkata-based online pharmacy ended its partnership with Flipkart Health earlier this year and relaunched its B2C platform under its own brand. "We are aiming to return to net profit in the current fiscal through strategic initiatives. We are focusing on the execution of these and capital-efficient growth to recover the company from a Rs 122 crore net loss in FY'25. "Out of the Rs 150 crore, about Rs 40 crore was deployed in FY'25, and the remaining Rs 110 crore will be invested in FY'26 and FY'27," SastaSundar Chairman B L Mittal told PTI. To tap into the rising demand for affordable medication, SastaSundar has launched JITO, a curated generics medicine channel under its main brand. "We expect to invest nearly Rs 25 crore to develop the JITO platform to push retail sales," Mittal said. The concept of quality-verified generic substitutes is gaining popularity, offering customers significant discounts compared to branded prescription drugs. With a Rs 50-crore investment planned in technology and AI-driven healthcare tools, the company is targeting to double its B2C business in FY'26, from Rs 144 crore achieved in FY'25. A major portion of this investment will go towards hiring tech and AI talent to build digital consultation, diagnostics, and personal health profiling tools, Mittal recently informed investors in a conference call. On the distribution side, 250 Health Buddies are currently active post the Flipkart exit, and the company expects this number to rise to around 400 by the end of FY'26, he said. On the B2B front, RetailerShakti, which supplies to pharmacies, delivered a strong performance with revenue nearly doubling to Rs 941 crore in FY'25, he said. The company is targeting EBITDA breakeven for RetailerShakti in the last quarter of FY'26. By FY'30, SastaSundar aims to achieve a blended EBITDA margin of 4-5 per cent.

Jaundice scare in Badagada, BMC checks ground situation

BHUBANESWAR: Amid concern over water-borne diseases in an apartment project in the state capital, reports of multiple jaundice cases have surfaced in Badagada prompting Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to dispatch a health team to the area on Thursday to assess the situation. Sources said jaundice cases have been detected in multiple residential colonies of Badagada area. 'Close to a dozen jaundice cases have detected in the locality in the recent weeks. The ongoing drainage work right above the water supply pipes could have caused leakage and contamination,' said a resident. As per a BMC official, after reports of suspected jaundice cases surfaced, a joint team of Urban Metropolitan Surveillance Unit, Rapid Response Team and ADUPHO office conducted field investigation to identify possible sources. The team visited Uparasahi, Karuna Basti and Kalinga Basti within Badagada locality. A BMC team led by mayor Sulochana Das had also visited Trident Galaxy apartment recently following reports of outbreak of diarrhoea, jaundice and other gastrointestinal diseases in the residential complex due to groundwater contamination. They had warned action against the developer for failing to comply with the sanitation norms. Meanwhile, in another development, the enforcement squad of BMC collected around Rs 11,000 towards fine from some roadside eateries in KIMS hospital area, over alleged violation of food safety norms. So far, three hotels and a packaged water unit have been sealed in the city for unhygiene practice. The crackdown will continue, said food safety officer Satyajit Patel.

"Yoga builds inner strength for future challenges," says NCC Cadets in Ahmedabad ahead of International Yoga Day

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 20(ANI): Several National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets gathered in Ahmedabad on Friday to take part in a disciplined and energetic yoga session to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga. On Friday, many cadets described the ancient practice as a valuable part of their routine, helping them stay physically fit and mentally focused as they prepare for challenging roles in the defence services. Speaking to ANI, Cadet Raksha Bhadauria said, 'As NCC cadets, staying mentally and physically strong is essential for us. Yoga plays a key role in helping us build that strength from within. Today, through this practice, we are sending a collective message to adopt yoga, stay healthy, and become stronger.' Bhadauria added that yoga also prepares cadets for future responsibilities in defence. 'If we ever get posted in challenging situations, yoga will help us stay mentally fit and calm in decision-making. The preparation we get through yoga at NCC will benefit us ahead,' she said. Cadet Nandana Nair told ANI that yoga is a practical and accessible fitness practice. 'Yoga brings us peace of mind and strength. It can be done easily at home. You don't need a gym. I believe every Indian should do yoga--it's beneficial for physical health and also supports us in future roles in defence services,' Nair added. Echoing similar thoughts, Cadet Krishna said, 'As you can see, all of us cadets are celebrating the 11th International Yoga Day. Yoga not only keeps the body healthy but also brings mental peace and emotional balance. This makes it especially important for us as future defence personnel.' Speaking to ANI, Colonel GS Vidyarthi, Commanding Officer of 1 Gujarat Battalion, said,'Today, on behalf of Ahmedabad Group Headquarters NCC, we are observing International Yoga Day with the participation of nearly a thousand cadets. Yoga has always been a part of our lives, and it is encouraging to see young cadets embrace it enthusiastically. Their participation sends a strong message to society about the importance of fitness and mental well-being.' He added, 'For NCC cadets, especially those aspiring to join the armed forces, yoga builds the resilience to stay calm and make sound decisions in critical situations. A disciplined yoga routine supports both physical health and mental clarity, which are essential for the future of a healthy nation.' Around 1000 cadets from the National Cadet Corps performed Yoga in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Friday ahead of the International Yoga Day. An invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition, Yoga has emerged as one of the most trusted means to boost physical and mental well-being. The word 'Yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'yuj', meaning 'to join,' 'to yoke,' or 'to unite.' It symbolises the unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfilment, harmony between human and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well-being. Recognising its universal appeal, on December 11, 2014, the United Nations proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131. India proposed the draft resolution establishing the International Day of Yoga, which was endorsed by a record 175 member states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi first introduced the proposal in his address during the opening of the 69th session of the General Assembly on September 27, 2014. The date of June 21 was chosen as it is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This day represents a symbolic harmony between nature and human wellness and is important in many cultures. This year marks the 11th International Day of Yoga, with the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'. This theme echoes a vital truth about the interconnectedness of health, sustainability, and the environment, aligning with India's 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' vision highlighted during its G20 presidency. The International Day of Yoga 2025 will not just be a one-day observance--it will reflect India's enduring commitment to holistic health, environmental harmony, and global well-being. With 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' as its guiding principle, India continues to lead the world in connecting physical fitness with mindful living. (ANI)
