Operation Sindoor: Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi meets border dwellers, lauds BSF women troops
Jammu, May 28 (UNI) Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi on Wednesday evening met the border residents and also lauded the role of BSF women troops during 'Operation Sindoor' during her visit to the Suchetgarh border in R S Sector of Jammu.
As part of a broader initiative led by the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, a series of celebrity visits across Jammu has been launched to show solidarity with the armed forces and civilians besides inspiring revival of tourism in the region.
The first in this initiative was the visit of renowned Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, who arrived in Jammu to extend her support and amplify the message of peace, resilience and hope.
Qureshi engaged in an exclusive interaction with the stakeholders from the Jammu and Katra Hotel and Restaurant Associations.
The stakeholders appealed to her to promote the scenic beauty, hospitality and cultural richness of Jammu through word-of-mouth and her public platforms. They emphasized that celebrity endorsements can play a vital role in rebuilding tourist confidence and encouraging footfall in the region.
The actress also visited the family of late Raj Kumar Thapa, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Rajouri, who tragically lost his life in a recent attack.
She offered her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and paid tribute to his sacrifice for the nation.
Later in the evening, a cultural programme was organised at the Indo-Pak border, Suchetgarh, symbolising unity and national pride.
The event showcased local cultural performances and featured a touching interaction with Army jawans, BSF jawans and affected families aimed at honouring the brave soldiers and showing solidarity with affected families.
Speaking at the event, Qureshi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed her admiration for the unwavering spirit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
She vowed to inspire more celebrities and artists to visit the Union Territory and experience its breathtaking beauty, vibrant culture and hospitality.
Her visit marks not just a symbolic gesture, but a powerful message of collective strength and a renewed call to embrace Jammu and Kashmir as a vibrant and safe tourism destination. UNI VBH SSP

Bhool Chuk Maaf OTT release date: The sci-fi romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, is finally ready to hit the digital streaming platforms. This OTT debut comes after a controversy and a ₹ 60 crore lawsuit over its theatrical release. The makers had earlier decided to ditch the big screen due to the 'heightened security drills across the nation' amid Operation Sindoor. Bhool Chuk Maaf, which hit the theatres on May 23, will finally begin streaming online on Amazon Prime Video from June 6 onwards. The Rajkummar Rao starrer will premiere on digital platforms just two weeks after its theatrical release, significantly shorter than the industry's usual eight-week window. Maddock Films announced on May 8—just a day after Operation Sindoor, triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack—that it, along with Amazon MGM Studios, decided to 'bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16—only on Prime Video, worldwide.' However, PVR Inox sued the makers, alleging a breach of contract and demanding that the film be released in theatres first. They also pointed out that the agreement included an 8-week window before the movie could be streamed online. Bhool Chuk Maaf has earned almost ₹ 60 crore at the Indian box office in 10 days, making it the 7th biggest Hindi hit of the year. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie has earned a total of ₹ 58.85 crore since it released in theatres on May 23. The Amazon Prime Video description states, 'Ranjan, stuck in a time loop on his wedding day, must fulfil a forgotten promise to escape it. As he sacrifices his dream job for another's greater good, the film highlights compassion over ambition, reminding us of the power of kindness in a self-centred society.'
