Entries poured in from more than 70 countries for this year's World Food Photography Awards by Broccolini. Here's our selection from the 17 Australian photographers who made the shortlist. And congratulations to Melbourne food photographer and stylist Claudia Anton, whose Stripes on Stripes Pink Pasta, below, was awarded 2nd place in the 'Food Influencer' category.

Other Australian top-three finalists included James Ward Breen, who took second place for The Rhythm of Life in the World Food Programme for Life category; Kate Ireland/Peck of Pickles, third place for Pink Oyster Mushrooms Close Up (in Cream of the Crop); and Claudia Anton, third place in the Tiptree Cake Award for A Fanciful Cake in a Sea of Tranquil Green.
Claudia Anton's Swirly Pear Tart (Food Influencer category) and Alana Dimou's The Dinner Ladies (Production Paradise Previously Published) were highly commended.

The move comes just days after Oscar winner Anne Hathaway sailed into sports ownership, joining a female-led consortium who acquired the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team in what circuit CEO Russell Coutts called 'another significant milestone in SailGP's growth as a league'. Australia's SailGP Team, helmed by Tom Slingsby, have been bought by Hollywood actors. Credit: AAP Founded in 2019, SailGP pits national crews in identical 50ft foiling catamarans reaching speeds over 54 knots within metres of shorelines in iconic harbours worldwide. 'This is an incredible milestone for us and for our sport,' said Tom Slingsby, who serves as driver, CEO and co-owner of the Flying Roos. SailGP director Andy Thompson added: 'Today marks a landmark moment not just for the Australia team, but for the trajectory of SailGP globally,' highlighting the 'extraordinary combination of global reach, vision, commercial nous' the Hollywood duo bring. The newly minted Flying Roos will debut under their star-studded ownership at the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix on June 7-8, where they aim to defend their position atop the championship leaderboard.

Australia's ocean dominance has got a Hollywood upgrade as Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds became co-owners of the country's three-times champion SailGP team, now rebranded as the BONDS Flying Roos. The investment adds star power to the Australian outfit who have dominated the global sailing championship, winning a trio of titles in four seasons of the high-speed racing series. SailGP, spruiked as Formula One on water and started in 2019, consists of 12 teams racing at 100km/h in 50-foot catamarans in harbours around the world starting in Perth next January and culminating in a grand final in Abu Dhabi. Reynolds is already the co-owner of the Wrexham AFC with Hollywood comedic star Ron McElhenney. The pair bought the club for US$2.5 million in 2021. The club achieved back-to-back promotions from the fifth tier of the English football system and is now worth US$475 million. In late May, Mindy Woods – owner-chef of Karkalla On Country near Byron Bay – received the World's 50 Best Restaurants Champions of Change Award. Woods, a Bundjalung woman, was the first Indigenous woman to appear on MasterChef Australia. She was named a Champion of Change for using her platform to blend cultures and empower the community, and cultivate a more inclusive food industry that supports minority voices. Meanwhile, Central Otago destination diner Amisfield became the first New Zealand restaurant to appear on the World's 50 Best list in its 23-year-history, scraping in at 99th. It is unlikely any other Australian venues will feature on the list, which last year crowned Barcelona's Disfrutar as the 'world's best restaurant'. (A four-hour tasting menu at Disfrutar costs around $500 before drinks and may feature a dish called 'Fear: The Prawn', where guests are asked to hunt through dry-ice vapour with bare hands to retrieve the shellfish.)
