Major A-road which joins Britain's busiest motorway & is used by thousands every day to close for entire weekend
Motorists have been urged to prepare for serious disruption as diversion routes have been put in place.

National Highways is closing the A3 in both directions this weekend in Surrey.
The agency stated: "To help people plan their summer journeys, we're announcing all confirmed A3 weekend closures through to September in one go.
"The next closure is scheduled for August 1 - 4, with a further weekend closure during September.
"Each will involve restrictions on parts of the A3 near junction 10."
The A-road will be shut between Junction 10 (Wisley Interchange) and the B2215/A247 at Send from 9pm on Friday, August 1 until 6am on Monday, August 4.
Resurfacing of the road will be carried out and several gantries installed.
Drivers have been advised to take diversion routes provided by National Highways and allow for extra travel time.
There is also one more A3 closure planned after this weekend scheduled for Friday, September 12 until Monday, September 15.
The A3 southbound carriageway between the A245 Painshill roundabout and Burnt Common will be shut.
"We'll confirm diversion routes and share them ahead of the closure weekend, supported by web updates and local travel advice," National Highways said.
T he A3 was previously shut in both directions in April leading to travel chaos.
Drivers were unable to use the stretch between the M25 Junction 10 and A3 Wisley interchange due to the ongoing works.
And drivers weren't able to enter or exit the M25 at Junction 10 in May after another weekend closure.
The closures are part of the £317 million project to upgrade the A3/M25 interchange.
The M25 junction 10 and A3 Wisley Interchange is the busiest section of the M25, with over 300,000 vehicles travelling through it every day.
A statement from Surrey County Council's website reads: "Due to the volume of traffic and the resulting queues, this area has a very poor safety record and holds one of the highest collision rates across the National Highways network."
"Their improvements will reduce delays, smooth traffic flow and create safer journeys for all."
The ongoing works at junction 10 are due for completion in spring 2026.
This has included several bridge demolitions and the building of new ones crossing the A3 and M25, connecting the four quadrants surrounding junction 10 for the first time.
Environmental improvements are also being made to the area including the restoration of heathland and planting of new trees and woodland.
A3 CLOSURE DIVERSIONS:
National Highways have put a number of diversion routes in place ahead of the A3 closure this weekend.

you'll take the eastbound (anticlockwise) M25 to junction 9
travel south on the A243, then join the southbound A24, the westbound A246 and the northbound A247

Erling's Car-Land! Man City star Haaland splashes out on new £200,000 monster truck as he adds £5MILLION-worth of luxury vehicles to his collection just this year
Erling Haaland has continued to demonstrate his love of cars after the forward was spotted driving a new £200,000 truck earlier this week. The Man City star was seen leaving the club's Etihad Campus on Monday in a new Ford Shelby F-150 truck. The truck comes with a 5 litre V8 engine and is capable of going from zero to 60mph in 3.4 seconds. It adds to a fleet of cars Haaland has bought since moving to Man City for Borussia Dortmund back in 2022. The Norwegian has remarkably bought four cars since putting pen to paper on his latest Man City contract earlier this year. In January, Haaland signed the most lucrative contract in Premier League history, with his total package worth almost £1million per week over nine-and-a-half-years. The following month, Haaland was seen leaving training in a orange Porsche 911 GT3 which is worth over £200,000. Haaland was then reported to teamed up with billionaire car collector Ole Ertvaag to buy the Bugatti Tourbillion, worth a reported £4million. The rare supercar is one of just 250 to have been made and was billed to have 'space age' features including 'butterfly doors'. The Bugatti has a 1,800 horsepower petrol and electric hybrid V16 engine which can take the car from zero to 62mph in two seconds, and can reach 124mph in just a mere five seconds. In May, Haaland splashed out on a yellow convertible Ferrari 812 Superfast, which would have set back the forward £320,000. His collection also includes an Aston Martin DBX 4x4 worth £350,000, a £250,000 Mercedes Maybach and a £120,000 Audi RS6 Avant Quattro. The forward in the past has been seen driving a Ferrari Monza SP2, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and a Range Rover Sport. Haaland is preparing for the new Premier League season with Man City and will be crucial in their bid to reclaim the title. The Manchester City forward's car collection also includes a £120,000 Audi RS6 Avant Quattro The star will expect to lead the line when Man City open their campaign against Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Haaland, who celebrated his 25th birthday this summer, should be fresh after enjoying a break with his girlfriend Isabel Johansen following the Club World Cup. The couple, who welcomed their first child in December, were pictured on holiday in Ibiza last month.

Major driving theory test change learner drivers must know about
Learner drivers will be tested on CPR and defibrillator skills as part of an update to the theory test from early next year. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is implementing the change, noting that motorists are often the first on the scene during cardiac arrest incidents. The update aims to provide candidates with a better understanding of life-saving skills, potentially improving survival rates for the over 40,000 people who experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK annually. Research highlights that survival rates can increase significantly if CPR is given and a defibrillator is used within three to five minutes of collapse. The push for this change was led by Professor Len Nokes, chair of the Save a Life Cymru scheme, whose daughter died from cardiac arrest complications.
