This week, Taylor Swift announced her highly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, during an appearance on New Heights, the podcast co-hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Now, Swift's excited fans have a theory that she left an Easter egg in the episode. Swifties believe the singer has left a trail of clues suggesting that she is performing as the halftime entertainer at the upcoming Super Bowl.
Newsweek has contacted a representative for Swift for comment via email outside regular working hours.
Why It Matters
The Life of a Showgirl marks Swift's first album release since her record-breaking Eras Tour—the highest-grossing tour in history—wrapped in December.
Earlier this year, Swift bought back the rights to the master recordings of her first six albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation. "You belong with me," she wrote on social media on May 30 alongside a photo of herself surrounded by her albums—a reference to her 2008 song by the same name from her sophomore album.
The Life of a Showgirl is Swift's 12th record and the fifth one she has released in the past five years, following Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020), Midnights (2022) and The Tortured Poets Department (2024).

Swift's fans have been buzzing with excitement and theories following the pop superstar's announcement earlier this week, but one theory in particular is gaining ground with her fan base.
During the two-hour-long podcast, which has been viewed more than 16 million times on YouTube, Swift discussed her hobbies outside making music, which include baking sourdough bread. She said, "I'm really talking about bread 60 percent of the time now."
While this may seem like an innocuous comment, in the Taylor Swift fandom nothing is ever treated as such. In an Instagram reel from Grind City Media, Jessica Benson, a reporter who covers pop culture and sport, said, "I think Taylor Swift is going to be the Super Bowl halftime show performer."
"I don't think Taylor Swift is actually baking sourdough bread. I think it was an Easter egg," Benson said.
The Super Bowl LX is scheduled to take place at Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, and Benson noted that the 49ers' mascot is Sourdough Sam.
The Grind City Media reel has been viewed more than 7 million times.
The account @swiftiesforeternity also promoted the theory, writing in the text overlay of an Instagram post: "Taylor's 47th show was at Levi's Stadium. That's where super bowl 60 is... which is the 49ers stadium... and their mascot? 'SOURDOUGH SAM,' Taylor said she talks about sourdough 60 percent of the time, and kept saying 47 in the podcast."
Swift is known for leaving a trail of clues for her fans that hint to upcoming albums, song lyrics or other key events for the singer.
"I want Easter eggs to be a certain thing where if you are part of the fandom and you want to experience music in a normal way, then you don't even see these," she said during the New Heights episode, adding, "But if you want to look at that then it's there."
For those searching for potential Super Bowl-themed Easter eggs, the podcast itself may be one. Some Taylor Swift fans were a little dismayed by the superstar choosing to announce her new album on a sports podcast, but if she is hinting at a Super Bowl performance, it could all be part of a bigger picture.
It wouldn't be the first time that an appearance of Swift's has been an Easter egg. During the podcast, she referenced what she described as one of her favorite Easter eggs: the commencement speech she gave when she received an honorary doctorate from New York University in 2022.
"I put so many lyrical Easter eggs in that speech that when the Midnights album came out after that, the fans were like, 'The whole speech was an Easter egg,'" Swift said on the podcast.
Fans on social media have also noted that a silver football and a silver microphone were sitting behind Swift during her podcast appearance and that the singer made multiple references to the number 47 during the episode. Fans believe this is an Easter egg because her 47th show of the Eras Tour was at Levi's Stadium.
It is important to note that Swift's fans regularly theorize about the singer's next move, and their theories often fall short, a phenomenon known in the fandom as "clowning."
The theories about Swift being a halftime performer are all speculative and fan-driven. There has been no confirmation from the signer or the NFL that she will perform at the Super Bowl.
What People Are Saying
Taylor Swift said on the New Heights podcast: "As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and um, I think we all know that if there's one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it's more of me."
X user @chartstswift wrote in a post viewed more than 1.4 million times: "Taylor Swift could be hinting at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show: On 'New Heights,' Taylor said she has watched every Super Bowl halftime show, thinks about sourdough '60 percent of the time,' and mentioned the number 47 several times. Coincidentally, or not, Sourdough is the San Francisco 49ers' mascot. The 49ers will host the 60th Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium—which also happened to be the 47th stop on the Eras Tour. And, of course, 2026 will be Travis Kelce's 13th NFL season."
What Happens Next
Super Bowl LX is scheduled for February 8, 2026, in Santa Clara, California. The halftime performer is often announced in the early portion of the regular NFL season, around September.

Margaret Qualley awkwardly answers Taylor Swift album question
Margaret Qualley awkwardly answers Taylor Swift album question originally appeared on The Sporting News If you want new information on Taylor Swift's upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, you're not getting it from Margaret Qualley. The Maid star gave an awkward answer to whether she knew any details about her close friend's new project. "I don't know anything," Qualley said during an Aug. 14 appearance on the Today show. She took a long pause, seemingly to gather her thoughts, and added, "But we'll all be excited to listen to the music.' Qualley's husband, Jack Antonoff, is a frequent collaborator of Swift's as they worked on her albums: 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. However, for The Life of a Showgirl project, she worked alongside producers Max Martin and Shellback. All three musicans previously worked together on hit records for Swift, including "Blank Space," "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," and "...Ready For It?" Swift spoke about how the album came together on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. "When I was on tour in Stockholm, I had Max Martin come out to the show," Taylor explained during an Aug. 13 appearance. "I was talking to him and I was like, 'I just feel like we could knock it out of the park if we just went back in.'" "We've never actually made an album before where it's just the three of us," she continued. "It felt like catching lightning in a bottle, honestly." In addition to the production process behind the project, Swift shared that she wrote the album while she was on her record-breaking Eras Tour and was inspired by how she felt. 'This album is about what was going on behind the scenes of my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,' she said. 'It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervesence has come through on this record. And like you said, bangers." The Life of a Showgirl Tracklist 'The Fate of Ophelia' 'Elizabeth Taylor' 'Opalite' 'Father Figure' 'Eldest Daughter' 'Ruin the Friendship' 'Actually Romantic' 'Wi$h Li$t' 'Wood' 'CANCELLED!' 'Honey' 'The Life of a Showgirl' ft. Sabrina Carpenter While 13 is the singer's "lucky number" she shared that there will only be 12 songs and no bonus tracks. 'With 'Tortured Poets Department,' I was like here's a data dump of everything I thought, felt, experienced in two or three years. Here's 31 songs. This is 12,' she said. 'There's not a thirteenth, there's not other ones coming. This is the record I've been wanting to make for a very long time. I also wanted it to be every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons, and you couldn't take one out and it be the same album, you couldn't add one and be… It's just right. 'That focus and that kind of discipline with creating an album and keeping the bar really high is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time,' she continued. 'I tend to write lots and lots of music, so it's a temptation to release lots of music. But oftentimes, I wanted to do an album that was so focused on quality and on the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle that these 12 songs for my 12th album, I feel like we achieved that and I'm really happy about that.' Celeb Chef Bobby Flay Has One Major Rule For Guacamole
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links. The vast majority of the time, we're picking up what Bobby Flay is throwing down. His unique step for better fried chicken (spoiler: it has something to do with the buttermilk bath) is a game-changer. Flay's trick for perfectly melted cheese on burgers is so good, it gives us goosebumps. We're not quite so sure about his take on guacamole, however ... and we suspect we won't be the only people with strong opinions about it. In a social media clip that appears on multiple platforms, Flay discusses Super Bowl snacks and dives right into his recipe for guac. It's really simple, actually: Hass avocado, fresh lime juice, diced red onion, your choice of chili pepper, and plenty of cilantro. Maybe a little salt, pepper, and canola oil for consistency. But Flay absolutely does not use — he's really clear about this — tomatoes. What? Flay insists that tomatoes only muddy the clean, fresh taste of guacamole and that the freshest, ripest tomatoes aren't available during most parts of the year, meaning that the specimens at the grocery store are sad and mealy. Ubiquitous Tex-Mex fast food giant Taco Bell adds a surprising ingredient to its guacamole, and some celebrity chefs swear by secret inclusions, but Flay's "secret" is what he leaves out. In the clip, he admits that this approach to the beloved Mexican condiment is polarizing, to say the least, and shares that several of his acquaintances have taken him to task for omitting tomatoes. Read more: 11 Celebrity Chefs And The Foods They Hate Flay's Take On Tomatoes Isn't Without Precedent Flay knows he's being controversial here, as tomatoes are a common addition to guac. Indeed, quite a few Mexicans have written online that they happily add tomatoes to their guacamole. As one poster on r/mexicanfood said, "My mom was born and raised in Durango. She has made guacamole with diced tomatoes my entire life. My dad was born and raised in Jalisco. When he was alive, he would also make guacamole with tomatoes." They then acknowledged that Mexico is a big place with a diverse array of culinary traditions, so it's not as if they were speaking for the entire nation. If you are in the camp that firmly adheres to the mantra "guacamole is incomplete without tomatoes," you might be surprised to learn that the internet is ripe (pun fully intended) with folks who feel the same way Flay does. They actually go so far as to say that tomatoes ruin guac! Some write that they feel tomatoes ruin the taste and consistency of the guacamole and that they are simply not good when they aren't in season. Others have gone even harder and slammed the fruit, saying it was nothing more than filler that ruined the experience of eating guac. It was a sentiment echoed on Quora: "I can accept tomatoes in chunky guacamole, but they need to be ripe (preferably not store bought as stores carry unripe tomatoes that appear ripe) but it's not something I would add to guacamole." Maybe we owe Bobby Flay an apology for doubting his wisdom? Read the original article on Foodie.

Patrick Mahomes had doubts about Travis Kelce's romance with Taylor Swift at first
Patrick Mahomes was doubtful when Kansas City Chiefs team-mate Travis Kelce told him he was dating Taylor Swift. The Chiefs quarterback revealed that his friend Kelce had told him about the pair's relationship but explained that it was only when the pop star attended her first NFL game in September 2023 that he realised that the romance was genuine. Speaking in the ESPN docuseries The Kingdom, Mahomes said: "He told me during the week. It was one of those where I gotta see it until I believe it." Travis and Taylor's relationship was confirmed when the Blank Space singer attended the Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium for the NFL clash against the Chicago Bears and Mahomes admits that her presence at the game generated a "buzz". The 29-year-old sports star said: "You definitely felt the buzz and you could see people in the stadium gravitating towards where she was up there. At the same time, we had business to handle." Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones was astonished when the team discovered Taylor's relationship with Kelce. He recalled in the documentary: "We were in the locker room like, 'Taylor Swift's here. Taylor Swift? For real? With Travis? Oh my God!' "We were like, 'Oh my God Travis pulled Taylor Swift.'" Taylor recently compared Travis wooing her to being a John Hughes movie as she opened up about how the pair's romance came about. The 35-year-old singer said in a revealing interview on her boyfriend and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast: "This dude didn't get a meet and greet and he's making it everyone's problem. "That's what I thought at first... You realise he didn't even reach out to our management. He came with Pat [Mahomes] and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady, that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room." She continued: "It felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with a boombox saying, 'I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?" The Cardigan singer acknowledged that Travis, 35, turned out to be the guy she'd been manifesting in her songs. She smiled: "I was like, 'If this guy's not crazy, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.'"
