Texas A&M receives prediction to land elite 2027 4-star QB out of Georgia
Texas A&M's quarterback future presents an interesting discussion in today's transfer portal age, as 2025 starting QB Marcel Reed will need to succeed this season to continue in his role, while the depth chart includes redshirt freshman Miles O'Neill, who looks like the next man in line if Reed fails to deliver.
However, 2026 four-star commit Helaman Casuga, who was one of the top performers during On3's Elite 11 event last week, looks like the future starter after Reed and O'Neill, so looking ahead to the 2027 cycle, coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein have their eyes on four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson, who is one his way to becoming a five-star prospect by this time next year.
After landing in his top-five program list this week, Johnson is down to Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Florida State, and Texas A&M. According to a source, Johnson and Collin Klein have developed a strong relationship based on what the Valdosta, Georgia native could do in his offense.
On Saturday, it was revealed that Rivals recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman has predicted that Texas A&M will land Jayce Johnson, who is expected to announce his commitment on August 3. This isn't a shock given the staff's closeness to his development, combined with Elko's recruiting pipeline in Georgia, which features three high-ranking 2026 commits from the Peach State.
Set to enter his all-important junior season at Lowndes High School, Johnson made his mark during his 2024 sophomore season after throwing for 1,799 yards, 16 touchdowns, and three interceptions, paired with over 300 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
According to Rivals, Johnson is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 5th-ranked quarterback, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia.

For Texas A&M to make it to the expanded College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, winning two out of three against Texas, Florida, and Auburn is mandatory; a nine or ten-win total will likely be enough to earn a bid. The Texas Longhorns will be led by sophomore QB Arch Manning and defensive standouts, linebacker Anthony Hill and defensive end Collin Simmons, paired with an elite secondary. Meanwhile, Florida QB DJ Lagway and Auburn wide receivers Cam Coleman and Erik Singelton Jr. will pose problems for every defense they face. TexAgs co-owner Billy Liucci provided an interesting take, noting that, while all three games are crucial to making the postseason, A&M's Week 3 road trip against Notre Dame should also be included. 2027 4-star OL remains highly impressed with Texas A&M after recent visit

During this week's Next Future 50 event, Camara, similar to 2027 five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, Camara's recent visit to Texas A&M during the program's annual OL/DL camp resulted in building bonds with several of the Aggies' coaches, especially offensive line coach Adam Cushing. Cushing's success on the recruiting trail has been praised nationally after landing three of the top offensive tackles in the 2026 class over the last two weeks, so it's no surprise that he's already made headway with Camara, who had plenty of good things to say during his recent interview with GigEm247's Andrew Hattersley. "I got to talk with Coach Cushing," Camara stated. "That was amazing. I learned a lot of stuff. I'm looking forward to being back here maybe once or twice this summer. I love it." Last week, during the Next Future 50 media availability, Camara continued to praise Texas A&M, noting that the Aggies have made a significant impact on his recruitment, as Cushing's coaching tactics and the program's O-line recruiting success in the 2025 and 2026 classes have certainly played a part. Notre Dame receives a prediction for ‘26 DL Elijah Golden, who will commit in late July
Notre Dame football's 2026 class has grown exponentially over the last two weeks, but they will have to wait until the end of July for another one of its top targets to make his decision. Elijah Golden, a 6-foot, 4-inch and 275-pound Floridian, will make his commitment on July 26th as reported by On3's Kyle Kelly, as he will decided from Alabama, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and the Irish. The good news for Notre Dame is that On3's Mike Singer has put in a prediction for the star defensive lineman to go with the Blue and Gold. With all of his official visits concluded, he will now have about a month the finalize his decision. Golden visited South Bend during the weekend of June 20th, his last trip that was scheduled. While Notre Dame has multiple edge rushers committed, they lack a big body on the outside to compliment them. Golden would be that perfect addition, and if Singer is correct, they will be doing just that.
