Lahore rout defending champion Islamabad by 95 runs to reach PSL final
Lahore Qalandars qualified for their third Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in four years after an emphatic 95-run win against defending champion Islamabad United on Friday night at Gaddafi Cricket Stadium.
Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi grabbed two wickets for three runs in his three overs as Islamabad was routed for 107 in 15.1 overs in reply to Lahore's imposing 202-8.
Islamabad struggled to get going in the chase in the absence of star opener Alex Hales, who missed the crucial eliminator to attend a friend's wedding in Spain.
Afridi got a wicket with his third ball when he uprooted the middle stump of Mohammad Shahzad for a duck.

Lahore pace bowler Salman Mirza (3-16) took all of his wickets inside the powerplay as Islamabad never recovered after crumbling to 33-4. Mirza bowled league leading run-getter Sahibzada Farhan for 3.
Pakistan Twenty20 captain Salman Ali Agha top-scored with 33 off 26 balls and Islamabad skipper Shadab Khan made 26 off 14 balls. Nobody else reached double figures.
Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain picked up 3-34 and Afridi bagged the last two wickets to seal the win.
Earlier, Lahore's faith on rookie opener Mohammad Naeem paid off in the crunch game when he smashed 50 off 25 balls with seven fours and two sixes.
Sri Lankan left-hander Kusal Perera added 61 off 35 and countryman Bhanuka Rajapaksa made a valuable 22. Asif Ali smashed two late sixes to ensure Lahore breached 200.
Lahore won the league in 2022 and 2023 and will meet 2019 winner Quetta Gladiators in the final on Sunday at Lahore.

Opener Sahibzada Farhan notched his maiden half century and spinner Abrar Ahmed grabbed three wickets to guide Pakistan to another convincing 57-run win over Bangladesh in Lahore on Friday night. Farhan smashed a 41-ball 74 and Hasan Nawaz made 51 off 26 balls to help the home team post 201-6 before Abrar grabbed 3-19 to keep Bangladesh to 144-9 in 19 overs, with the last man Shoriful Islam unable to bat due to injury. Agha and Hasan star in Pakistan's win over Bangladesh in first T20
Skipper Salman Agha hit a career best knock and pacer Hasan Ali grabbed his first five wicket haul as Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 37 runs in the first T20 international in Lahore on Wednesday. Agha struck a career-best 56 to guide Pakistan to 201-7 before Hasan took 5-30 to dismiss the tourists for 164 in 19.2 overs at Gaddafi Stadium. The win gives the home team a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Allrounder Shadab Khan, who also struck a quick 48, then dismissed rival skipper Litton Das for a 30-ball 48 to break a fighting 63-run stand for the third wicket that lifted Bangladesh from 37-2. Litton hit three sixes and a boundary and had steadied the innings with Towhid Hridoy who scored 17, but the later batters could not capitalise on the platform. Pacer Hasan ended Jaker Ali's knock of 36 (21 balls with three sixes and a boundary), Tanzim Hasan for one and Shoriful Islam for five to cap a succesful return to international cricket after a year-long injury lay-off. Hasan said he was happy and satisfied. "The last eight months were very tough because it was a career-threatening injury so I am happy to have contributed to the team's win," said Hasan, who underwent elbow surgery last year. Journeyman Raza blasts Lahore Qalandars to PSL title
Lahore Qalandars won the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with a six-wicket win against Quetta Gladiators on Sunday night, with Sikandar Raza hitting the winning runs after only landing back in Lahore minutes prior to the start of the final. The 39-year old Zimbabwean landed in Lahore just ten minutes before the toss, after scoring a half century in his country's innings defeat in the Nottingham Test against England a day before. Needing 13 in the last over to complete a 202-run chase set by Quetta, Raza completed the task during his seven-ball 22 not out with two sixes and as many boundaries. However, the league resumed on May 17 after a ceasefire between the two countries.
