Five Keralites From Qatar Killed in Tragic Bus Accident
The deceased have been identified as Riya Ann (41) and her daughter Tyra Rodrigues (8) from Palakkad, Geetha Shoji Isaac (58) from Thiruvalla, Jasna Kuttikkattuchalil (29), and Roohi Mehreen (18 months). Reports indicate that the group included 14 Malayalis, with the deceased hailing from the districts of Palakkad, Thrissur, and Pathanamthitta.
According to Kenyan media, a total of six people died in the accident, which occurred while the group was travelling in a private tour bus.
The accident happened at around 4:00pm on Monday in the Gichakha area along the Ol Kalou–Nakuru Road in Kenya's Nyandarua County. The tourists were en route from Nakuru to a resort in Nyahururu, where they had planned to spend the night.
Amid heavy rainfall, their bus lost control while navigating a steep curve on a downhill slope. The vehicle veered off the road, overturned several times, and crashed onto a farm below. The impact was severe enough to tear off the bus's roof. Six people died instantly on the spot.
At least 20 others sustained injuries, five of whom are reported to be in critical condition. Among the injured are Riya's husband, Joel, and their son, Travis, who are currently undergoing treatment.
Local residents and police quickly responded, rushing the injured to a hospital in Nyahururu, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The Indian Embassy in Qatar confirmed the incident and expressed condolences in an official statement: 'A group of 28 Indians from Qatar were visiting Kenya, where their bus met with an unfortunate road accident yesterday. As per available information, five Indian nationals have lost their lives.'

The Embassy assured that its officials in Nairobi are on the ground to support those affected. Community organisations like ICC and ICBF are also coordinating relief efforts.

The Indian Embassy in Bahrain has announced that all consular services will be shifted from the embassy premises to a new Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) at Bahrain Mall starting tomorrow. The newly opened centre, located at K.A. Visa Services on the first floor of Bahrain Mall in Sanabis, will handle passport, visa, attestation, and other miscellaneous services previously offered at the embassy. These include form filling, document photocopying, photographs, and courier service, at no extra cost to applicants. They are also reminded to bring original documents for verification, as mandated by embassy procedures.

India Launches E-Visa For Kuwait From July 14: 5-Year Tourist Visas Available
Beginning Monday, July 14, 2025, Kuwaiti citizens will be able to apply for Indian e-visas — a move hailed as a significant step in easing travel and strengthening bilateral ties. 'Kuwaiti citizens will now be able to apply for Indian visas entirely online,' announced Dr. Adarsh Swaika, India's Ambassador to Kuwait, on Sunday. Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Swaika described the launch of the e-visa platform as a 'qualitative shift' in the way the two nations engage. 'This has been a long-standing request from Kuwaiti citizens,' he noted, 'and it reflects the enduring historic ties between our countries.' The digital platform allows Kuwaitis to apply under five visa categories — tourism, business, medical, conference, and AYUSH (which covers alternative medicine, including yoga and Ayurveda) — without the need to visit a visa centre. All steps, including application, documentation, and payment, can now be completed online. Dr. Swaika said biometric data will be collected upon arrival at Indian airports. Most applications are expected to be processed within three to four days, although some minor technical issues may arise as the system is rolled out. Among the system's highlights: tourist visas will be valid for up to five years and will cost $80. Other visa types range from $40 to $80, depending on the purpose and duration of the visit. The ambassador called the initiative a gesture of goodwill aligned with India's broader effort to modernize consular services and deepen engagement with the Gulf region.
