EastEnders' Ravi Gulati takes brutal revenge as Bernie Taylor's exit 'sealed'

Daily Mirror5 hours ago

It's set to be an eventful week for Ravi and the Panesar family in EastEnders next week as they discover someone has been stealing from their business accounts
Next week is set to be a big week for the Panesars in EastEnders as it's revealed that Bernie has been stealing money from their business accounts.
This week, we'll see some suspicious behaviour from Bernie, as we're aware Clair Norris is soon set to leave the soap. We'll see Vicki notice something suspicious later in the week when she notices some strange invoices - although Bernie's quick to dismiss.

However, it won't last for long, as next week it will be revealed she's stealing from the family's business account. It's an unwritten rule in Walford not to mess with the Panesars - but it's not Bernie who will bear the brunt of the revenge. In fact, it's Vicki.

It all starts when Vicki loses her job after asking Bernie for an advance on her wages. In retaliation she steals Bernie's work laptop, and as she finds something suspicious she decides to blackmail her. With that, it is revealed that Bernie has been stealing money from the Panesar business accounts.
However, things get messy when Vicki blackmails Bernie for half of her stolen profits in return for her silence.
Of course, Bernie knows Ravi and the Panesars better than anyone, so she sets Vicki up, allowing them to think Vicki is a thief, as she realises she has no where to hide.
Ravi and Priya are then determined to teach Vicki a lesson, although Suki is adamant she'll sort it. After a confrontation with Vicki, Bernie heads to No.41 to question the Panesars on their lack of action leading Ravi to lure Vicki into a trap at Walford East.

If there's one thing we know about Ravi - it's that you shouldn't get on the wrong side of him. What could he have in store for Vicki?
Bernie's huge predicament comes as we know Clair will be leaving the soap - as it's been teased the latest stories are the beginning of her exit storyline. However, it's not yet known how she'll be leaving Walford.
Elsewhere this week, The Six storyline is revisited as Bernie's cousin Felix wants him to give Johnny her seal of approval, unaware that he helped cover up Keanu's murder. Denise then fears that if Johnny doesn't win Bernie over, it could bring the past back to haunt them all....
Clair's exit was confirmed by an EastEnders spokesperson last month, who said: "We can confirm that Clair will be leaving EastEnders later this year and we wish her all the best for the future."
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Amazon Fire Stick users could face a £1,000 fine for watching Glastonbury

It is the most hotly anticipated music festival of the summer. But if you try to tune in to Glastonbury this weekend on your Amazon Fire Stick, you might end up facing a massive fine. Using a Fire Stick means you will be able to watch all the action streaming on BBC iPlayer from 19:00 BST on Friday. However, you could face a fine of up to £1,000 if you don't have a TV licence - that's almost three times more than a ticket to see Glastonbury live. The issue is that Glastonbury is a live broadcast, which you'll need a TV licence to watch. At £174.50 per year, this isn't cheap - but it is certainly less expensive than the hefty fee you'll face if you ignore it. 'Not paying for a TV Licence could lead to a £1,000 fine if we find that you have been watching, recording or downloading programmes illegally,' TV Licensing explains on its website. 'The maximum fine is £2,000 in Guernsey. Plus any legal costs and/or compensation you may be ordered to pay.' Amazon Fire Sticks' main appeal is that they give users access to a mixture of popular streaming services, including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV+. However, a lesser-known benefit is that they also let you access a wide range of BBC content. Earlier this year, Amazon quietly added the option to watch 10 BBC channels through the 'live' tab on the Fire Stick. Those include BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News, BBC Scotland, and BBC Alba, as well as BBC iPlayer. Although you don't need a TV licence to watch on-demand streaming services, you do need one to watch anything on BBC iPlayer. That means tuning into Glastonbury through the BBC's streaming service is a breach of the rules. Likewise, you also need a TV licence if you watch any live broadcasts like Glastonbury. This includes any live broadcasts, such as sporting events, on streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. TV Licensing explains: 'You need to be covered by a TV Licence to watch live on streaming services - such as ITVX, Channel 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now, Sky Go, YouTube, Netflix and Freely. 'You don't need a TV Licence if you never watch live on any channel, pay TV service or streaming service, or use BBC iPlayer.' These rules also apply to anything that has been broadcast live in the past, even if you're watching a recording on catch-up services. So it won't matter if you watch the Glastonbury broadcast as it happens or catch up the next day, you still need a licence to avoid getting fined. The cost of a TV Licence recently increased by £5 per year, rising from £169.50 to £174.50 on April 1. While you can pay this in one go, most people choose to spread the cost by Direct Debit - this works out at £14.54 per month. 'We could visit your address to confirm if you need a TV Licence,' TV Licensing warned. 'If we find that you have been watching, recording or streaming programmes illegally, you risk prosecution and a fine for not having a TV Licence of up to £1,000 plus any legal costs and/or compensation you may be ordered to pay.'

Watchdog warning over spray foam insulation as show celebrates 40th year

Watchdog warning over spray foam insulation as show celebrates 40th year The consumer rights programme is currently fronted by Allwright and Nikki Fox, who have marked the milestone by discussing some of its success stories, which include undercover investigations and policy changes. Watchdog's Matt Allwright has found himself in some sticky situations over the years. (Image: BBC ) Homeowners should be wary of companies trying to dishonestly sell spray foam insulation, BBC Watchdog presenter Matt Allwright has warned as the show celebrates its 4Oth year. The consumer rights programme is currently fronted by Allwright and Nikki Fox, who have marked the milestone by discussing some of its success stories, which include undercover investigations and policy changes. ‌ The pair said inflated ticket prices and mis-billing by energy companies were some of the biggest cases they had covered, and the show has seen "tens of thousands of pounds" returned to customers. ‌ "I think being part of that process is a real privilege, and those sorts of roles don't come along very often. I really cherish it. I love it," Allwright said. Asked about the most shocking story he had covered recently, Allwright said it was the misselling of spray foam. Article continues below "Most homes don't need spray foam insulation," he said. "You can use fibreglass matting, like most of us have in a loft. "The problem with it is that it can also cause damage to a home in certain circumstances, and as a result, a lot of mortgage lenders aren't happy about lending on a home that's got it. It's also very difficult to remove. "You've got to make that sort of thing really clear – if you're selling something that costs thousands of pounds and would cost thousands of pounds to remove and could therefore stop the sale of your home at the point where you need it." Article continues below Watchdog has been fronted by various presenters since it first aired on BBC One in 1985, perhaps most memorably by Anne Robinson and Nick Frost. In 2020, the BBC announced it would cease to be broadcast as a standalone programme, and would be shown as a feature within The One Show. Fox and Allwright discuss their memories of the show during a special programme, Watchdog At 40, which will air on The One Show at 7pm on Wednesday on BBC One.

Huge EastEnders horror in early BBC release as the police are summoned

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs at 7.30pm on BBC One or can be streamed now on iPlayer. The police have arrived at The Queen Vic – spelling trouble for the landladies. As viewers have seen recently, Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe) has entered self-destruct mode in the wake of her separation from husband George (Colin Salmon). She decided to cheat on him with a Prince Albert punter after deciding he'd been emotionally unfaithful on numerous occasions with his ex-wives Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Sabrina. Finally snapping, she confessed everything and ordered him out. This has come as a huge annoyance to her daughter Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who has been having to run the pub single-handedly, while also trying to maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle for herself in sobriety. In scenes that have aired this week, George has made it clear that he intends to take half of The Vic in the divorce settlement, something which has only further infuriated Elaine. Her careless behaviour has continued, however. After handing 5k to Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) for a singles cruise, she agreed to host Patrick Trueman's (Rudolph Walker) birthday party despite being ridiculously understaffed. In today's instalment she demanded an extra 80 quid out of Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) for the celebration, which was bold and brash and decked out in kitsch decorations – something which Patrick's family hadn't expected. She then knocked back the booze and joined in the atmosphere, dealing a menacing glare to George when he arrived. Elaine didn't think twice about handing over a glass of punch to Howie's 16-year old son Denzel (Jaden Ladega) and his mate Joel Marshall (Max Murray), but was unaware when they whipped off with the pitcher jugs instead.
