3 face gun, drug charges in Asheville
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Three people face gun and drug charges after police conducting crime prevention measures made arrests in Asheville Saturday.
The Asheville Police Department said officers approached three individuals around 12:20 a.m. near the 490 block of Haywood Road Saturday and found them to be in possession of drugs and guns. According to reports, one of the guns was reported stolen.
Officers on scene seized two Glock 19s, .73 grams of fentanyl and 79.83 grams of marijuana.
According to reports, Damon Tyrique Smith Jr. was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule II, simple possession of schedule VI, driving while license revoked and received a citation for stop sign violation. Smith Jr. was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,000 bond.
Reports state Samar Arkey Peake was released from the Buncombe County Detention Facility under written promise and faces the charge of carrying a concealed gun.
Daiquan Aijah Ray is charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed gun, according to reports. Ray was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $25,000 bond.

Three arrested after probation officers find meth, firearms in Lincoln St home
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Three people were arrested on Tuesday after a search of a home on Lincoln Street led to the discovery of drugs and weapons, according to the Kern County Probation Department. On June 3, probation officers conducted a home call in the 1400 block of Lincoln Street, according to officials. During the search of the home, officers found about 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a loaded improvised 12-gauge shotgun frame and barrel, a loaded .38 special single shot pistol, a .22 caliber revolver, several rounds and U.S. currency. Bakersfield man on probation arrested on suspicion of drug sales under Prop 36 Juvenal Alva, 36, was on active felony probation, officials said. Alva was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possessing ammunition by a prohibited person, resisting an officer by force, possessing a controlled substance for sale and other drug-related charges. The probation department said Alva also had an active felony warrant. Ramiro Vasquez, 47, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale and an active felony warrant. Rogelio Alba, 39, was arrested on suspicion of resisting officers and possessing a nunchaku, the department said. Man sentenced for Lancaster County street racing death
LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Chester County man was sentenced for his role in a high-speed street race that killed a Manheim Township man in 2023. According to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, Judge Thomas Sponaugle sentenced Brandon Gentile to an aggregate sentence of nine years to include time served in custody awaiting trial, additional prison time and consecutive probation with restrictive conditions. In May, Gentile pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle, firearms not to be carried without a license, four counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of driving under the influence and other offenses. Ghost guns, drugs seized from Franklin County apartment
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A search at a Franklin County apartment in May led to the seizure of multiple 'ghost guns' and drugs, charging documents show. Charges were filed Wednesday against Giovanie Alvira-Garcia, 33, of Chambersburg, after detectives searched an apartment in the 1000 block of SummerBridge Court in Guilford Township on May 20, according to charges filed by the Franklin County Drug Task Force. 400+ bags of marijuana seized after high-speed I-78 chase The charges show two 9mm 'ghost gun' pistols that had no serial numbers were found inside the apartment, along with cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy pills, marijuana, and packaging material. 'A 'ghost gun' is a homemade firearm assembled from unfinished gun frames and receivers, often purchased from companies that sell gun parts or parts kits that buyers can use to construct firearms at home, according to Brian Zeiger's firm's website. Alvira-Garcia was sitting inside a vehicle on the property when he was taken into custody after the apartment was searched, the criminal complaint shows.
