Police arrest wanted man on gun, drug charges in Asheville
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A wanted man was arrested Saturday morning while police conducted proactive efforts in Asheville. The Asheville Police Department said 37-year-old Brandon Norrelle Miller was a wanted felon who was taken into custody Saturday while officers conducted proactive efforts near the 100 block of Atkinson Street. According to reports, officers saw Miller in possession of an AR pistol and made contact. Police said Miller was arrested without incident but, during the arrest, was found to be in possession of a firearm and drugs. Miller has been arrested and charged with the following: Firearm by felon Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver schedule IV Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver within 1,000 feet of a school Going armed to the terror of the public Carrying concealed gun Second degree trespass Miller was also served a warrant on the felony charge of flee to elude. 3 face gun, drug charges in Asheville
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Three people face gun and drug charges after police conducting crime prevention measures made arrests in Asheville Saturday. The Asheville Police Department said officers approached three individuals around 12:20 a.m. near the 490 block of Haywood Road Saturday and found them to be in possession of drugs and guns. According to reports, one of the guns was reported stolen. Officers on scene seized two Glock 19s, .73 grams of fentanyl and 79.83 grams of marijuana. According to reports, Damon Tyrique Smith Jr. was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule II, simple possession of schedule VI, driving while license revoked and received a citation for stop sign violation. Smith Jr. was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,000 bond. Reports state Samar Arkey Peake was released from the Buncombe County Detention Facility under written promise and faces the charge of carrying a concealed gun. Daiquan Aijah Ray is charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed gun, according to reports. Asheville police mourn the passing of K-9
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – The Asheville Police Department said they are mourning the passing of K-9 Bolo. Bolo passed away from an aggressive medical condition on Thursday evening, the Asheville Police Department said. He joined the police department in 2018 and was partnered with Senior Police Officer, Nathaniel Smith. Bolo was trained in explosive ordinance disposal and patrol apprehension roles, the Asheville Police Department said. The Asheville Police Department said Bolo's service will soon be honored and will share that information once it becomes available so the public can also honor his memory. Asheville police investigate motorcyclist death in crash
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – The Asheville Police Department (APD) is investigating a car crash after it left one motorcyclist dead. On Tuesday, April 1st, officers were called out to the 320 block of New Leicester Highway. Authorities say that a 2008 Honda VT750C Shadow motorcycle, driven by the victim, was traveling south when a a 2014 Toyota Scion attempted to turn left from the Highway into a parking lot, colliding with the motorcycle. The victim, 69-year-old Norman Lawrence Murray, was transported to Mission Hospital, and succumbed to his injuries on April 2nd. The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing. An Asheville, North Carolina man wielding a machete was arrested for armed robbery after he allegedly stole a cinnamon bun from a grocery store before fleeing on foot, according to police. The Asheville Police Department said 33-year-old Jeffrey Dewayne Bradburn has been charged with armed robbery, shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. The department said in a press release that its officers responded to the grocery store at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday after receiving reports of an armed robbery.
