Asheville police investigate motorcyclist death in crash
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – The Asheville Police Department (APD) is investigating a car crash after it left one motorcyclist dead.
On Tuesday, April 1st, officers were called out to the 320 block of New Leicester Highway. Authorities say that a 2008 Honda VT750C Shadow motorcycle, driven by the victim, was traveling south when a a 2014 Toyota Scion attempted to turn left from the Highway into a parking lot, colliding with the motorcycle.
The victim, 69-year-old Norman Lawrence Murray, was transported to Mission Hospital, and succumbed to his injuries on April 2nd.
The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing.

BMW Charity Pro-Am raises over $16 million for S.C. charities
GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — At the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament, their mission is all about giving back to local charities. For 25 years, the BMW Charity Pro-Am has been in 'full swing,' bringing a fun tournament to the Upstate while raising money for charities across the state. 'Oh, they love it,' Jeff Morris, Executive Director of Folds of Honor for the Palmetto State also said. 'They are calling me as soon as we are finished,' Chrystal Assadzandi, Charity and Volunteer Coordinator for the BMW Charity Pro-Am, said. 'I get a lot of calls saying 'how can we participate? How can we be a part?'' In 2001, the tournament was created to showcase the beauty of the South Carolina Upstate, while bringing locals, celebrities, and professional golfers together. It's aimed to raise money and awareness for South Carolina charities. One of those charities that has been impacted is Folds of Honor. 'I have had many veterans come up to me and they are so grateful to have the opportunity to come watch a golf tournament, come into the hospitality suite, interact with other veterans,' Morris said. 'It is amazing when you hear them, and they just go in there and they swap stories.' Morris said since Folds of Honor's involvement with the BMW Charity Pro-Am began in 2018, their group has been awarded around $250,000. The charity offers educational scholarships to the children and spouses of military and first responders. Funding for Folds of Honor, along with the more than 50 charities involved in this year's tournament, is raised in many ways, including through donations, ticket sales, and volunteer programs. BMW leaders said hundreds of charities have been impacted through this tournament over the past 25 years, and the money raised for them has not slowed down. 'We have given back in the past 25 years over $16 million to charities right here in the Upstate,' Assadzandi said. The BMW Charity Pro-Am will run through Sunday, June 8. Suspects charged for stealing over $3K of items in Austin, Buda: APD

In total, over $3,000 worth of items were stolen from various stores. Officials conducted a "shoplifting blitz" operation in the Lakeline Mall area. This operation was conducted as an ongoing effort to help local retailers to stop shoplifting. The backstory On Tuesday, June 3, around 12:50 p.m., officers responded to a report at Kohl's, at 11111 Lakeline Blvd., regarding two people who were removing security tags and unpaid hiding merch while in the store. When officers arrived, they spoke with store employees, who told them the suspects hid several items in reusable shopping bags and a woman's purse. Officers then found the suspects as they left the store with the stolen items. The suspects got into a black Tesla with the stolen merch and were then taken into custody. About $1,600 worth of merch was stolen from Kohl's. They also found several other stolen items worth around $2,000 that were taken from H-E-B and Home Depot on the same day. There were even stolen items from a Walmart in Buda a few days prior. Officers also found evidence of identity theft and fraud, as well as meth. Ada Johnson was charged with theft with two prior convictions and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Daryl Johnson was charged with theft. APD: K-9 killed by ‘friendly' fire during SWAT standoff
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 has learned the Albuquerque police dog that died in the line of duty last week was killed with friendly fire. 'You know, our canines are here to save and preserve human life. They are here to preserve human life, both of suspects and officers. And this was a difficult situation like mayor said, you know, he did lose his life to friendly fire,' said Albuquerque Police Department Chief Harold Medina. VIDEO: Police interview suspects in fatal robbery involving teens in Albuquerque Chief Medina made that statement Friday morning during a fundraiser announcement honoring Rebel, the K-9 shot and killed at the Comfort Suites near the Albuquerque International Sunport on May 29. Police were trying to arrest 39-year-old Jorge Dominguez, who had fled from a SWAT standoff earlier in the week. Police said Dominguez, armed with a loaded gun, tried to flee again from the hotel when he was spotted, ran back into his room, and jumped out a window. SWAT officers then deployed the rebel. Gunshots rang out at some point, and Rebel was hit. Dominguez was also killed. APD said while it's still early in the investigation, they do not have any evidence at this point that Dominguez fired his gun. 'As we get closer, we will be able to explain and show the specific dynamics that were occurring that day that really limited our officers and their response to this situation,' said Chief Medina. To honor Rebel, the Sandia Peak Tramway will donate $1 from every ticket purchase to APD's K-9 Unit. The city said those funds will go toward a new training facility near Daniel Webster Park.
