WWE To Offer Live Events On ESPN's Streaming Service Earlier Than Expected, Starting With Inaugural ‘Wrestlepalooza' In September
WWE is no longer waiting until next year to bring premium live events to ESPN's new direct-to-consumer streaming service and will instead kick off the recently announced partnership next month. The wrestling promotion announced Wednesday that the first live event offered on ESPN platforms will be the inaugural Wrestlepalooza on September 20. More from Deadline ESPN Finally Enters Its Streaming Tomorrowland, Taking Wraps Off Long-Awaited Direct-To-Consumer App Disney Adds Two EVPs In Adam Smith's Entertainment & ESPN Technology Group Stephen A. Smith's Straight Shooter Shingle Partners With Kevin Frazier: 'ET' Co-Host "A Force In This Industry", 'First Take' Boss Says The event, which will take place in 2025 Royal Rumble host city Indianapolis, will begin streaming live on the new ESPN service at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. This means that, as of September 20, ESPN will become the exclusive domestic home for all of the WWE's premium live events. The rest of this year's PLEs, including Crown Jewel and Survivor Series, will also stream on the new platform. Starting next year, marquee titles like WrestleMania and SummerSlam will also move to ESPN after concluding a five-year run on NBCUniversal's Peacock this year. 'On September 20, WWE and ESPN are coming together for a can't-miss event to kick off our new partnership,' WWE Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque said in a statement Wednesday. 'The biggest Superstars in WWE. The biggest brand in sports media. Are you ready?' Wrestlepalooza is expected to be a big one for WWE. John Cena is headlining the event, which will also feature Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre in major matches. This will officially mark Cena's last time wrestling in Indy. ESPN is launching its DTC streaming service on August 21. WWE Events Set To Move To ESPN Earlier Than Expected
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The WWE era on Peacock is ending sooner than expected. A new report has confirmed that WWE's premium live events will be moving to ESPN's new streaming platform starting next month, months earlier than the originally planned 2026 start date. According to a new report from Bryan Alvarez, WWE will fulfill its contractual quota of events for Peacock with the Clash in Paris show on August 31st. An Accelerated Timeline Alvarez has confirmed that due to an expanded premium live event schedule in 2025, which included the addition of a second night for SummerSlam and the all-women's Evolution event, WWE will have fulfilled its yearly PLE commitment to Peacock by the end of August. This paves the way for the new, lucrative partnership with ESPN to begin immediately after. This means that the upcoming, as-yet-unannounced premium live event on Saturday, September 20th, will be the first-ever main roster WWE PLE to air on ESPN's new platform. A new home. A new PLE. A new era. An historic partnership, a major step towards the future!!!@WWE Wrestlepalooza from Indianapolis on September 20 will air LIVE on @espn. — Triple H (@TripleH) August 20, 2025 A History Of WWE Streaming This is the third major evolution of WWE's streaming strategy in the United States. In 2014, the company launched the groundbreaking WWE Network, a revolutionary service that offered all pay-per-views for a monthly fee. In 2021, WWE licensed its US streaming rights to NBC's Peacock in a massive billion-dollar deal. Michael Tran / AFP/Getty Images Now, under the ownership of TKO Group Holdings, WWE is aligning itself with its sister company, the UFC, under one broadcast partner. The new five-year, $1.6 billion deal with ESPN will see all WWE PLEs move to the "Worldwide Leader in Sports," a move designed to further integrate WWE into the mainstream sports conversation. What It Means For The Fans The new ESPN direct-to-consumer service is set to launch this week at a price of $29.99 per month. However, it has been reported that existing cable and satellite subscribers who already receive ESPN will likely be able to access the new WWE content at no additional cost through authentication. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match One major question that remains is the future of WWE's vast historical archive, which is currently housed on Peacock. It is not yet known where that library of content will be hosted once the Peacock deal officially concludes. WWE is kicking off its new ESPN era with a stacked card. The September 20th event, reportedly titled "WrestlePalooza," is rumored to be headlined by two blockbuster matches: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre. Patrick Mahomes, other stars react to Scottie Scheffler's insane chip-in at BMW Championship
The post Patrick Mahomes, other stars react to Scottie Scheffler's insane chip-in at BMW Championship appeared first on ClutchPoints. The FedEx Cup Playoffs head into the final event after Scottie Scheffler won the BMW Championship. He secured his fifth win of the season thanks to an insane chip-in on the 17th hole. Even though he was likely going to take the title anyway, the birdie helped him pull away. Stars like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Hart reacted to Scheffler's inevitability after another great win. 'Scottie is crazy man,' Mahomes said, followed by a bunch of laughing emojis. That is the reaction that most golf fans and fellow professionals have when watching Scheffler. They can't help but laugh at how easy he makes the sport look. 'That was insane Scottie Scheffler,' Knicks' star Josh Hart posted. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr went with, 'Scottie is something else! Insane talent.' Kiper still has it when it comes to evaluating talent. His colleague Mike Greenberg said, 'You can't be serious. #Scheffler.' Scheffler won the BMW Championship without his normal caddie, as Ted Scott was tending to a family matter. But Michael Cromie helped guide him to victory, marking his 18th career win. The Tour Championship is next week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. Even though he won't get the starting strokes he got last year, Scheffler can become the first player to repeat as the Tour Championship winner. While the PGA Tour season ends next week, Scheffler has one big event left on his calendar. He has already clinched a spot on USA's Ryder Cup team, which is looking to avenge a brutal loss in 2023. The lowlight of that week in Rome was Scheffler and Brooks Koepka losing on the 12th hole in foursomes. Playing some of the best golf in recent memory, he is riding a hot hand with the Ryder Cup just over a month away. The Tour Championship begins on Thursday.
