Shah Rukh Khan's most expensive film became India's biggest flop, earned Rs 9 crore, budget was Rs..., name is...
Shah Rukh Khan continues to be one of the biggest and influential Indian stars over the last three decades. He has consistently proved his mettle as an actor with numerous box office hits and captivating performances. But like every other superstar, there are some box office bombs amid his superhits.
In 1995, Shah Rukh Khan had seven film releases, and among there were massive hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Karan Arjun , along with semi hits like Guddu and Ram Jaane . However, it was his final release of the year that proved to be the biggest flop of his career. The film was Mukul Anand's Trimurti , that saw Jacky Shroff and Anil Kapoor too in pivotal roles.
Bankrolled by Subhash Ghai, the film was mounted on a budget of Rs 11 crore, the biggest for an Indian film at the time. Moreover, it even surpassed the record of Shanti and Ajooba for being the most expensive Indian film.
Released on December 22, 1995, the film had earned Rs 1 crore on day 1 at Indian box office, a record-breaking opening for any Indian film. However, bad reviews and negative word of mouth led to the film's downfall and impacted overall collections. In the end, Trimurti's final earnings were just Rs 9 crore, less than its budget. Despite the massive star power, the film couldn't be saved and was disappeared from theatres in just two weeks.
Trimurti was the last release of filmmaker Mukul S Anand, who passed away due to heart attack while filming for Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt-starrer Dus in 1997. Anand is known for his previous hit directorial projects such as Agneepath, Hum, Khuda Gawah, Sultanat, and Insaaf.

Actor questioned over use of live python in opera

Jajpur: An Odia opera actor on Wednesday appeared before the Forest department officials in Jajpur district and explained the controversy surrounding his use of a live python during a rehearsal performance. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media, triggering concerns over the illegal use of wild animals in live performances. According to reports, the rehearsal of Tulasi Gananatya troupe for Odia play 'Ei Bodhe Sesha Dekha' (This is likely to be the last meeting) took place near Chandikhole on Tuesday. In the viral video, the actor Sai Satyajit Panda was seen holding a live snake, identified as an African ball python, on stage as part of a dramatic sequence. The video footage drew sharp criticism online and prompted wildlife advocates to flag the use of wild animals in entertainment, which is prohibited under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Following social media outrage, Bayree Forest Range office issued a notice summoning the actor. While presenting his side before the Forest department, actor Panda said the snake was a legally purchased exotic species, not protected under the Indian wildlife schedules. He claimed to have bought it in compliance with the rules and insisted no harm was caused during the performance. 'The snake I was holding at rehearsal was not venomous. It is an African bell python, and many people in Bhubaneswar keep these snakes as pets. It is allowed to be kept as a pet under Indian laws. Since I am an actor and a celebrity, the video got more attention online,' Panda said. He also claimed to be a pet lover and denied that the snake was harmed or 'misused'. Bayree Forest Range Officer Adwit Kumar Pradhan confirmed Panda's appearance and stated that no FIR in connection with the incident has been filed yet. He said under the Wildlife Protection Act, the public display or use of wild or exotic animals without clearance from the authorities can invite legal consequences, regardless of whether the species is native or imported. The matter is under investigation and action will be taken as per law, he added.

‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu' box office collection day 1: Pawan Kalyan's epic opens strong; mints Rs 44.20 cr

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Pawan Kalyan 's much-anticipated period film 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu – Part 1: Sword vs Spirit' finally arrived in cinemas, and as expected, the film opened to a powerful box office debut. Despite its long delays and production hurdles, the film saw massive turnout, especially in the Telugu states. Early estimates from Sacnilk suggest that the film collected Rs 31.50 crore on Day 1 (Thursday) in India across all languages, adding to the Rs 12.7 crore it had already grossed in paid premieres a day prior. This brings its total collection to Rs 44.20 crore which is a solid start by any measure. Hari Hara Veera Mallu Movie Review Occupancy reflects mixed momentum Reportedly, the Telugu version recorded a strong average occupancy of 57.39% on its opening day. Regions like Hyderabad (66.75%) and Vijayawada (77%) showed consistent footfalls throughout the day. Morning shows across most Telugu-speaking areas witnessed a sharp start. The numbers stayed reasonably high in evening and night shows. Hindi occupancy hovered around 12.43%, while Kannada and Tamil versions trailed at 9.96% and 8.24% respectively. Hari Hara Veera Mallu | Song - Evaradi Evaradi Will it hold through the weekend? While the box office numbers are impressive, the mixed reception might affect the film's trajectory in the coming days. Initial reviews have praised Pawan Kalyan's presence and the scale of the production. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Access all TV channels anywhere, anytime Techno Mag Learn More Undo Mixed reviews raised concerns about pacing and visual effects. ETimes gave the film a rating of 2.5 stars out of 5 and our review reads, "Hari Hara Veera Mallu might appeal to Pawan Kalyan's core fanbase and those drawn to visually grand period dramas with action and mythic flair. For most viewers, however, it may feel like a missed opportunity — a film rich in ambition but short on cohesion. Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit rides on Pawan Kalyan's charisma and MM Keeravaani's compelling score, but falters in storytelling, visual polish, and emotional depth. It is an ambitious spectacle that only occasionally lives up to its potential." With a runtime nearing three hours and expectations sky-high, it remains to be seen whether 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' can maintain its momentum beyond the opening weekend. The film also has Nidhhi Agerwal, Bobby Deol, Nargis Fakhri, Nora Fatehi, and others in pivotal roles.
