PM: Gov't looking forward to self-sustained economic system

CAIRO, May 21 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the government is working on detailed plan for 2030 that goes beyond the IMF program, which concludes by the end of 2026, or early 2027 at most.
'We are looking forward to a national program that does not depend on any other international institution,' the premier added during a news briefing following the cabinet weekly meeting on Wednesday.
He noted that the 2030 covers to a set of achievable targets, most prominent among which are sustaining of high growth rates, lowering inflation rates, reducing unemployment, and focusing on the social dimension.
In addition, many indicators, including industrial development and advanced technology, will gain the government primary focus over the period ahead, while working for maximizing of the potential of the tourism and ICT industries, and looking forward to optimizing all advanced systems and artificial intelligence tools in all aspects of life, Madbouly said during the press conference.
As for the challenges facing the Universal Health Insurance System, Madbouly said the government is considering adding a new governorate with a population of over 5 million to the second phase of the system roll-out, bringing total number of covered governorates to 12.
He said the government is keen on ensuring the financial sustainability of the universal health insurance coverage, pointing out that the government did not start with densely populated governorates in order to build a strong financial system from the system's revenues.
