LeBron James is very 'intrigued' by different goaltending rules in basketball

LeBron James
has completed 22 seasons in the NBA and played for the Olympics as a member of the United States team four times. And over the years, he has seen many rules change and evolve as the game itself has evolved with time.
And one such rule that he would like to see changed is that of goaltending. The rules for goaltending in the NBA and the international games that he has played as a member of the United States team are vastly different, and James thinks this change could be implemented in the NBA.
LeBron James would like to see some changes in the rules in the NBA
When it comes to goaltending, in international play a player can knock the ball off the rim if it's bouncing around during a bucket. But if the same happened in the NBA, the basket would count. This is one rule that the Los Angeles Lakers star player,
LeBron James
thinks could be changed in the league. Recently, during his latest Mind the Game podcast episode with co-host Steve Nash, James said:
"I've been very intrigued with the goaltending rule. I actually love it. I love it. It's exciting."
LeBron James & Steve Nash Answer Fans Burning Questions | MIND THE GAME
He further added that while it's not a common occurrence, this change could bring some excitement to the game.
"It doesn't happen as much as you would think. Even when you're playing against the international guys and this is their rule, sometimes the ball is tinkering around the rim and they just kind of…"
It could bring some animation to the game, as a bucket could very well be thwarted if defensive players take the chance in these situations. Whether the NBA brings this change into the game or not is a completely different aspect, but James does make a good point.
Is LeBron James staying with the Los Angeles Lakers next season?
LeBron James has completed 22 seasons in the NBA, and with what fans have learned so far, he will be playing his 23rd season in the league as well. Whether he stays with the
Los Angeles Lakers
or shifts his allegiance elsewhere is the question in everyone's mind at the moment.
The Lakers themselves are in for some big changes over the summer, as the Buss family is selling the LA team to Mark Walter, CEO of TWG Global and co-owner of the Dodgers, for a staggering $10 billion. With that happening right now, whether LeBron James stays or goes will be something to witness in the near future.

Drake reveals losing $8 Million in sports gambling, weeks after betting $750K on Royal Challengers Bengaluru: ‘So fried right now'
Drake, apart from music, is known for his high-stakes sports gambling. From the NBA to cricket, the Canadian rapper's presence at major global events, often tied to his infamous 'Drake curse' is hard to miss, especially with huge amounts at stake. However, while he may make it look easy, the rapper recently opened up about the downside of such gambles and revealed that he lost a massive $8 million in a month. He didn't mention which games exactly wiped him out, but last month, the NBA and NHL playoff season were in full swing. Drake even recently put a risky bet on Royal Challengers Bangalore during the IPL 2025 finale, where the team surprisingly ended up winning after 18 years. Also read: 'Ee sala cup namde': Drake bets Rs 6 crore on RCB ahead of IPL final against PBKS On June 18, the rapper took to Instagram Stories and shared a screenshot of his latest financial losses, saying, 'Gotta share the other side of gambling… Losses are so fried right now.' Over the past month alone, the rapper has reportedly placed nearly $125 million in bets. One of those bets was a massive $50 million wager placed last week, where he ended up losing $5 million. He continued, 'I hope I can post a big win for you all soon, cause I'm the only one that has never seen a max these guys max once a week.' Drake had earlier placed a $750,000 bet on a cricket match, backing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru against the Punjab Kings. A few months back, he put $1.25 million on the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL playoffs. They lost badly. He lost even worse. Drake lost $124m in a month to gambling. If he continues like this, sooner or later he'll be in debt. That's 2billion naira gone. — Ser Chukwuka (@official_papson) June 19, 2025 Fans are even joking that his curse turned on him instead, and the Toronto-based rapper didn't shy away from accepting that fact as well. He even joked in a recent promo video for Stake, his betting partner, with whom he is currently locked in a one-year endorsement deal, that he's a flawed sports bettor. In the video, he said, 'I will not deny that. That's not my gift. I'll let everybody roll with it. I'm sure if you're a Drake curse believer, there will be plenty more content in the future to confirm your theories because my slips do not cash out. But one day I'm gonna have a parlay that's insane.' Also read: Drake warns fans his 'next chapter' may leave them 'feeling uneasy' in cryptic post alluding to Kendrick Lamar beef Last month, the Hotline Bling crooner, to everyone's surprise, actually blamed Justin Bieber for one of his failed bets. Drake had placed $1 million on the Maple Leafs again, and Bieber showed up during the game. The team lost. Drake wrote 'Bieber curse' in a story, blaming him for the loss. But despite this, Drake admits he is not the 'gambling king'. He openly admits that Michael Jordan beats everyone, calling him the 'real-life gambling GOAT (greatest of all time)', saying that he has an ability to 'gamble on anything.' Drake said MJ once wouldn't stop betting him during a ping-pong match—'$10,000, $20,000, again and again.' Meanwhile, some netizens weren't exactly kind to Drake's recent admission of loss. Many called him out for throwing away millions while people are struggling to survive. One user called him a 'Certified Loser Boy,' and others labelled him a gambling addict.

NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers predicted to land $84,322,418 Utah Jazz duo to support LeBron-Luka power duo; Austin Reaves key trade asset?
Austin Reaves key trade asset for blockbuster deal with Utah Jazz (Image Source: Instagram/austinreaves12) The Los Angeles Lakers could make a major roster shakeup this offseason by trading fan-favorite Austin Reaves to acquire Utah Jazz standouts Walker Kessler and Collin Sexton . According to Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus, this move would address key weaknesses while giving the Jazz a promising young core in return. Why the Los Angeles Lakers Could Move On from Austin Reaves The Los Angeles Lakers have relied heavily on Austin Reaves as a secondary playmaker and scoring threat, but his limitations on defense and inconsistent shooting have raised questions about his long-term fit. Pincus suggests that trading Reaves could bring in much-needed reinforcements. "Lauri Markkanen was an All-Star two seasons back and was nearly as productive in 2023-24," Pincus wrote. "While his volume and efficiency plummeted this past season, a big part of the problem may have been his lack of support. Reaves would help alleviate that problem." (H/t: Sporting News) Proposed Trade Details Walker Kessler and Collin Sexton (Image via Getty) Here's the full trade scenario outlined by Pincus: Lakers Receive: - Walker Kessler (C) - Collin Sexton (PG) - No. 43 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft Jazz Receive: - Austin Reaves (SG) - Jarred Vanderbilt (PF) - Dalton Knecht (SG/SF) - 2030 first-round pick swap (top-three-protected) How Walker Kessler Elevates the Los Angeles Lakers' Frontcourt Walker Kessler, a 23-year-old center, would immediately bolster the Lakers' interior presence. His elite rim protection and efficient scoring make him an ideal fit alongside Luka Doncic and LeBron James. Walker Kessler's 2023-24 Stats: - 11.1 PPG - 12.2 RPG - 2.4 BPG - 66.3% FG Key Strengths: - Elite shot-blocker (7-foot-4 wingspan) - Strong pick-and-roll finisher - Reliable offensive rebounder Collin Sexton's Offensive Boost Collin Sexton, a dynamic 26-year-old guard, would provide scoring punch and three-point shooting—two areas where the Lakers struggled last season. Sexton's 2023-24 Stats: - 18.4 PPG - 4.2 APG - 48.0% FG - 40.6% 3PT Key Strengths: - Explosive slasher - Improved playmaking - High-energy defender What the Jazz Gain in This Deal For Utah, this trade accelerates their rebuild by adding young talent and future assets: - Reaves: A proven scorer and playmaker - Vanderbilt: Versatile defensive forward - Knecht: A promising rookie with scoring upside - Future pick flexibility This trade would be a gamble for the Los Angeles Lakers, but the potential payoff is significant. Walker Kessler and Collin Sexton fill critical needs, while Utah gets a solid return for two players who may not fit their long-term timeline. As Pincus notes, "The Lakers could offset some of the scoring void left by Reaves by adding Sexton, and they'd pick up another throw at the dart board with that mid-second-rounder."
