Princess Sofia Missed a Dazzling Tiara Moment After Debuting Baby Princess Ines at Royal Event
State banquets are always a highlight on the royal calendar, filled with pomp, ceremony, elaborate decor and, of course, tiaras. The Swedish royal family owns quite the collection of jewels, and they brought out the bling for a state banquet in honor of an Icelandic state visit on Tuesday, May 6. While King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine and her husband, Chris O'Neill, attended the glittering event, Princess Sofia was notably absent.
Although 40-year-old Sofia, who is married to Prince Carl Philip, recently brought her three-month-old daughter, Princess Ines, for her first balcony appearance on April 30, she stayed home from the banquet.
The Swedish princess gave birth to baby Ines on Feb. 7 and therefore is officially on maternity leave, but she did step out on the palace balcony last month as it was her father-in-law the king's birthday.
Along with baby Ines, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip are the parents of three boys: Prince Alexander, 9, Prince Gabriel, 7, and 4-year-old Prince Julian.
Sofia might have skipped this week's state banquet, but her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law dazzled in heirloom family jewelry—and even sneakers—at the event.
Queen Silvia kept it comfy in white trainers as she recovered from a foot surgery, pairing her sneakers with a sparkly pink gown and matching wrap. And although her footwear might have been sensible, she went big with her jewels. The Swedish queen wore a diamond tiara known as Queen Sofia's tiara, adding a massive pink topaz and diamond necklace and matching earrings.
As for Crown Princess Victoria, she repeated a white gown covered in colorful floral appliqués, adding the Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik tiara to her look. Meanwhile, Princess Madeleine—who wore a strapless, berry-hued gown—debuted a special family diadem, wearing the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara. Per The Court Jeweller, Madeleine is the only modern royal to have worn the 120-year-old piece other than Queen Silvia.

Simon Kinberg cites Andor as his inspiration for the new Star Wars trilogy

I thought that was about as good of science fiction storytelling as you can do in any franchise.' Looking to that Emmy-nominated show as a stepping off point should certainly reassure fans and suggest that he has something exciting stored away, but even now it sounds like he's still in the "pinch-me" phase of the process. 'It's not even a dream come true—I couldn't have dreamed it,' he explained. 'Just to be told there'd be more movies would have been unbelievable. To be allowed on the set of any of them was already a dream. My enthusiasm only grows with working on and around it." While there's minimal detail on just what Kinberg's planned trilogy will include, what we do know is that it'll take place after the events of Rise of Skywalker. Kinberg will both pen and produce the new trilogy, which is confirmed to see the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker. Dave Davies on how You Really Got Me saved The Kinks, those Jimmy Page rumors – and what he really thought of Van Halen's cover

But right now he's busier than usual, promoting The Journey – Part 3, which documents The Kinks' late era. Though the band is best known for You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola from the '60s and '70s, the new set reminds us that late-stage cuts like Come Dancing, Destroyer and Better Things have earned pride of place in the band's catalog, too. 'We had a great comeback,' Davies reflects. 'We had many comebacks! It was like a renaissance with that era. There's so much stuff there. At that point we were playing more live shows. We had new songs, new management, and there was a lot of stuff to go through. It was like a rebirth in America. We were blossoming.' It's no revelation that Davies is a proverbial godfather of distortion, inspiring players who came after him by using new levels of gain, distortion, and fuzz without the help of stompboxes. He achieved his sound by slashing the cone of his amp's speaker, leading to a gnarly, garage-meets-heavy rock tone that, in some ways, launched hard rock and heavy metal. That might sound hyperbolic – but for Davies it's just the truth. 'Well, yes, we did do that,' he states proudly. 'And we did it without any pedals. It just happened, you know? It was really spontaneous. I think I'm most proud of You Really Got Me. It was a great song, and it remains a great song. And it really had a great attitude for the time.' What's your perspective on how The Kinks had impacted heavy rock music and distorted guitar after you tore up your amp's speaker cone? 'I just did that, and it came out as You Really Got Me. Man, we didn't know, but it worked.' What prompted you to tear the cone? 'If I knew I'd tell you! I came up with it one afternoon, and that sound came about. It was like a piece of magic.' There's been a lot of speculation over the years that Jimmy Page recorded the solo for You Really Got Me. 'It's quite ridiculous. It's totally ridiculous that someone can merely try to take credit. It was me – it was a Kinks song. It was The Kinks' sound on a Kinks record. So of course I recorded the solo.' Have you ever spoken to Jimmy Page or session engineer Eddie Kramer about the claims? 'I've never talked to Jimmy about it, no. But I have talked to Eddie, and he denies Jimmy did it.' Was the You Really Got Me solo off the cuff, or did you plan it out? 'It was probably off the cuff. There's really no way one could plan that. I don't remember the gear; it all happened so quickly. We were thankful for it because we maybe wouldn't have been The Kinks if we hadn't found that sound. The albums hadn't been doing well; we weren't doing great, really. And suddenly, with You Really Got Me, we kind of surprised people.' What were your thoughts on the Van Halen version of You Really Got Me from 1978? 'Well, I thought it was quite funny-sounding! It was very good as well, though. I've gotten used to it!' Did you ever talk to Eddie Van Halen about how you influenced him? 'Sadly I never got to meet him. He had great success with that version of You Really Got Me. He even played it on tour. Anne Hathaway Reveals First Devil Wears Prada 2 Costume, Now Give Me Another Fashion Montage

The Devil Wears Prada is a wildly successful book-to-screen adaptation, and is arguably one of Anne Hathaway's best movies. As such, fans were thrilled when it was confirmed a long-awaited sequel was coming, with both Meryl Streep and Hathaway returning to their roles. The latter actress recently offered the first look at Andy Sachs' return, and I need another fashion montage ASAP. What we know about The Devil Wars Prada 2 is limited, but fans were sold thanks to its returning actors. On top of the story, moviegoers are hyped to see the fits of fashion in the follow-up movie. We all remember Andy' fashion montage to Madonna's "Vogue" in the original, and Hathaway posted on Instagram revealing one of her many looks for the sequel. While the sequel's story is currently a mystery, that hasn't stopped hype from growing. And once we get to see Meryl back as Miranda Priestly, I have a feeling the internet is going to explode. There are two sequel novels already released, so there will presumably be some content to farm from the source material. Although I also wouldn't be surprised if a new story comes together, one that can properly highlight returning actors like Hathaway, Streep, Tucci, and Emily Blunt. On the other hand, a number of the Devil Wears Prada cast aren't expected to return for the sequel. Arguably the biggest absence is Adrian Grenier's Nate Cooper (aka the real villain of the original). Still, there are some exciting newcomers joining the burgeoning franchise such as Conrad Ricamora, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux and Kenneth Branagh, who is playing Miranda's new husband. Photography for The Devil Wears Prada 2 began June 30th, so they're about one month into production. As such, Hathaway has probably worn plenty of gorgeous costumes for the fashion-focused sequel. And I'm going to need a sneak peek of Miranda Priestly sooner rather than later. All will be revealed when The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1st, 2026. Since it's not on the 2025 movie release list, fans like me might have to be patient while we wait for more information/footage from the project.
