Oman gifts a plaque to WTO commemorating Sayyid Bilarab's visit
This mural is a symbolic gift from His Highness to the organisation, an initiative that embodies the depth of bilateral relations and mutual appreciation between the Sultanate of Oman and the organisation.
It highlights three main themes: Historical civilisation, natural diversity, and a bright future, in an artistic representation that reflects Omani values, openness to global issues, and sustainable development.
This initiative was supervised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, with the participation of the Omani Society for Arts, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth.
This initiative reflects institutional cooperation and affirms Oman's active presence in international forums through arts and culture.
Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said: 'This initiative expresses the Sultanate of Oman's appreciation for its constructive relations with the World Trade Organisation and embodies its commitment to promoting cultural communication and dialogue with various countries around the world through art.'
He added: 'This initiative comes under the guidance and follow-up of His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, who attaches special importance to the arts as an effective tool in promoting cultural dialogue and building bridges of communication between the Sultanate of Oman and the world."
The minister emphasised that HH Sayyid Bilarab support for this project reflects his belief in the role of culture in consolidating Oman's presence on the international stage and underscores the Sultanate of Oman's commitment to presenting a bright image of its cultural and human heritage.
Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, said: 'This artistic initiative embodies a civilisational, cultural, and artistic dimension that reflects the Sultanate of Oman's vision of using the arts as a bridge for global dialogue and understanding, and a belief in the importance of culture and the arts as a tool for representing national identity in various forms.'
He expressed his pride in presenting the commemorative plaque to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, which is part of the institutional partnership and cooperation supporting the integration of national efforts to represent the Sultanate of Oman in international forums, enhance its national and cultural identity, and disseminate it globally, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
He said : "This plaque, which reflects Omani civilization, natural diversity, and a vision for the future, has highlighted the creative energies of young Omani artists and contributed to conveying the message of authentic Omani art to the World Trade Organisation, thereby affirming the role and importance of the arts in building cultural and diplomatic relations."
Idris bin Abdulrahman Al Khanjari, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, explained that this cultural initiative reflects an important cultural and diplomatic dimension in the Sultanate of Oman's relations with the WTO. It also demonstrates the Sultanate's commitment to the approach of human communication through the arts.
Al Khanjari expressed his pride that this painting will remain present at the WTO headquarters as a symbol of mutual appreciation and the strong relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the WTO.
The Ambassador explained that the painting will be hung in a central hall in the WTO building, called the "Salle des Pas Perdus," which serves as a living museum of pluralism, art, and shared history, with its walls echoing the footsteps of generations of diplomats.
It is worth noting that an art competition was organised with the participation of six Omani artists, taking eight months of continuous work under the supervision of a specialised art committee and in coordination with relevant authorities.
The painting by Omani artist Salem bin Khamis Al Salami was honoured by His Highness Sayyid Bilarab to represent the Sultanate of Oman and is on permanent display at the World Trade Organization headquarters, as an artistic blend that combines Omani cultural identity with global openness.

Social innovation conference opens in Salalah
Salalah: A social innovation conference was organized today in the city of Salalah by Al Roya newspaper in cooperation with the Regional Network for Social Responsibility. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. Hatim Hamad Al Taie, Editor-in-Chief of Al Roya newspaper, gave a speech in which he addressed the importance of ethical responsibility in the use of artificial intelligence (AI). In his speech, he laid emphasis on striking a balance between innovation and protection of privacy, ensuring the fair use of data and implementing principles of transparency. Al Taie also called on companies to adopt models of responsible use of AI as part of their social responsibility strategies. The speech was followed by the conference statement delivered by Dr. Youssef Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility. Dr. Youssef stressed the importance of adopting national policies that support social innovation, building partnerships between the private sector and youth and providing digital platforms to showcase emerging social solutions, enhancing training and empowering young leaders. He outlined the experience of Nama company in the Sultanate of Oman, which launched 150 innovative social projects over three years. He also spoke about an initiative named "Feena Khair" in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that benefited more than 500,000 students, as part of a drive to promote volunteering and active citizenship. Mohammed Bakhit Al Shahri, a representative of Dhofar branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), highlighted Oman Vision 2040 which, he said, makes innovation a pillar of sustainable knowledge economy. Al Shahri stressed the importance of supporting entrepreneurs and innovators and linking promising ideas with investment opportunities through strategic partnerships. For his part, Eng. Hamid Abdullah Al Abdali, General Manager of supply chains at Oman Broadband Company, spoke about the company's contributions to self-employment and training of jobseekers on fibre-optic connectivity. Al Abdali pointed out that the company's initiatives included launching a new programme to support local added value for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with total spending worth about RO 36 million. The conference discussed three main topics. The first was titled "Arab Youth: From initiatives to entrepreneurship and social innovation". The second topic focused on empowering youth to engage in social innovation and the third topic dealt with the role of establishments and institutions in empowering youth to engage in social innovation. The conference also included 8 working papers, a number of presentations, a panel discussion and three training workshops titled: 'Using AI in innovation to enhance community projects"; "Using inspiration economy to empower youth to address social challenges" and "Designing innovative community initiatives."

UAE conducts 76th airdrop of aid over Gaza Strip
Gaza: The United Arab Emirates is continuing its humanitarian support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip by carrying out today the 76th airdrop of aid under Birds of Goodness Operation, part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, in cooperation with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and with the participation of Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Singapore and Indonesia. The shipment included quantities of essential food supplies, prepared with the support of Emirati charitable institutions and organisations, to meet the needs of the population amid the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. With the completion of this airdrop, the total aid delivered by air under the operation has surpassed 4,020 tonnes of food and other essential supplies, reaffirming the UAE's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and strengthening their resilience. These initiatives highlight the UAE's pioneering role in international relief efforts, mobilising regional and international cooperation and reinforcing the nation's approach of giving to alleviate the suffering of those affected by crises.

Forum in Salalah recommends unifying national efforts in document management
Salalah: A forum on "Archival Experiences" in Salalah has recommended unifying national efforts in document management, enhancing training and capacity-building programs, and adopting modern technologies for digitization and electronic preservation. The goal is to ensure the sustainability of documents as an integral part of the national memory. This came at the conclusion of the 3-day forum, which was organized by the National Records and Archives Authority at the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate. The final day of the forum included three main sessions. The first session addressed document sorting, discussing mechanisms and projects for sorting through practical case studies from the work environment. It also highlighted the public document sorting project as a fundamental step in a document's lifecycle. The second session, titled "Document Digitization and Storage Locations," featured four presentations by different institutions showcasing their efforts to link digital and physical preservation. This included the experience of Oman Airports in establishing a document management center, an initiative by Nama Dhofar Services Company, and presentations on Dhofar Municipality's files and the Environment Agency's secure document preservation initiative. The session was held in line with the national push towards digital transformation and information security.
