Prithviraj Sukumaran, promoting his OTT film Sarzameen, addressed the Marathi language row in Maharashtra, emphasizing India's unity in diversity.
Prithviraj Sukumaran is currently busy promoting his recently released OTT film Sarzameen, starring Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan. During a promotional interview, the actor was questioned about the Marathi language row in Maharashtra. While addressing the topic, Prithviraj Sukumaran clearly stated that, in all of this, we have forgotten how India stands for 'unity in diversity, not uniformity."
'Maybe I'm just old-fashioned because I come from a time and generation where you grew up with none of this even being a topic for discussion," Sukumaran said in an interview with HT, while talking about the growing language-based violence in the country, especially in the state of Maharashtra.
He further continued and shared, 'I am a Sainik School product. I spent most of my schooling years in Sainik School, and even at the schooling stage, I had friends from the North and from different states. We all had different languages being spoken amongst us. So, it was just part of who we are as a country. I just think that in the heat of all these discussions and conversations, we forget that the ethos of this great nation is unity in diversity, not uniformity in spite of diversity."
Several celebrities have spoken about the ongoing Hindi-Marathi row in Maharashtra. While speaking about the clash, Shikhar Pahariya had said, 'Marathi Asmita is real. It is deep, emotional, and rooted in our way of life," he wrote, but warned, 'That pride cannot come at the cost of others' dignity… We cannot keep a language alive through fear."
Recently, at the trailer launch of Son of Sardaar 2, Ajay Devgn was asked to comment on the ongoing Hindi-Marathi language debate. The actor kept his response brief but impactful, slipping into his 'Singham' avatar with the popular line, 'Aata Majhi Satakli."
Earlier, while speaking to IANS, R. Madhavan said, 'No, I have never experienced it. I speak Tamil. I speak Hindi. And I have studied in Kolhapur also. I have learnt Marathi as well. So, I have never had any problem because of language—neither because of knowing it nor because of not knowing it."

Did BTS Record A Michael Jackson Song For A Tribute Album?

Big Hit Music claimed that BTS never visited the studio in Ireland or took part in any recording for the album related to the Michael Jackson tribute. BTS fans were very excited recently when news of them recording a Michael Jackson song for a tribute album started spreading online. It was reported that Jin, Suga, J Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook had worked on the track last year. However, this turned out to be false, and it was septet's agency, Big Hit Music, who recently denied these reports. They said BTS never visited the studio in Ireland or took part in any recording for the album. The agency made it clear that the group is not involved in the tribute album in any way. Taking to X (Formerly Twitter), the agency wrote, 'We would like to address recent media reports concerning BTS's alleged participation in a Michael Jackson tribute album. BTS has neither visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland nor taken part in any recording sessions at the location for the mentioned project. The group is not involved in the tribute album in any capacity. We are continuing to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of inaccurate information. We express our sincere gratitude to fans for continuously showing support for BTS. We remain fully committed to supporting the artists and their endeavours." These tracks were reportedly found in a storage unit and had never been shared with the public before. Speaking with The Irish Sun, he said, 'The sessions started last year and we have already had the Korean boy band BTS over with us in Grouse Lodge, recording one of the songs. There's about ten more, written especially for Michael by the collaborators he worked with in Ireland, including producer Rodney Jerkins and rapper Nephew, who have signed up for the project." Paddy Dunning further shared that he had a conversation with Michael Jackson's estate and got their approval to move forward with the release of an unreleased song and a documentary. The documentary will show Michael's time in Ireland, where he enjoyed special moments with his three children. Paddy mentioned that the estate supports the project because they also see it as a respectful way to honour Michael's memory. Currently, BTS is in the USA, where they are busy working on their comeback album. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
