Kanye West Calls Drake The 'New Generation R. Kelly' As He Praises Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime Show

Yahoo11-02-2025

Kanye West must really be enjoying the attention he is getting with all of his antics as he continues to share his thoughts about any topic he wishes.
This time, the rapper has chosen to comment on Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime Show, declaring his love for it.
Ye's comments come after he deactivated his X account following a series of provocative posts, including expressing his love for Adolf Hitler and calling for Sean "Diddy" Combs' release from prison.
Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime show performance is stirring diverse reactions among netizens, with some describing it as the worst ever while others hailed the "Loyalty" rapper for his creativity.
Kanye gave his verdict on Lamar's Super Bowl performance in a video obtained by HotNewHipHop.
He began, "Few people have been asking me like 'what did you think of Kendrick's halftime show?'"
The "Jesus Walks" rapper confessed that he "really loved the show" before adding, "It was my favorite halftime show since, like the Michael Jackson era, which I kind of just barely remember. I've just been seeing clips of it."
Kanye analyzed Lamar's performance, saying it was "super simple. The flag was fresh. They did "Be Humble," and the way people's heads were moving, I was just like shook. This is like super fresh."
The "Never Let Me Down" rapper also praised Lamar's voice control and how he eventually performed "Not Like Us" after people speculated about him doing it.
Kanye shared that he saw people saying Lamar's halftime show was the worst ever, which he didn't agree with as he feels it is the "best halftime show."
Afterward, he shifted the conversation to Diddy's incarceration to drive his point home.
The Yeezy founder said, "When I say one man's in jail. One superstar, one black superstar, is in jail. The next black superstar is on stage. They take one rapper to take another rapper down."
Kanye then compared Drake to the imprisoned R&B singer R. Kelly. He said, "It's like Drake is almost like the new generation R. Kelly..."
He explained that R. Kelly is in jail for doing something similar to what Lamar accused Drake of doing in his song "Not Like Us." Recall that Lamar accused Drake of being a pedophile on the track.
Kanye said, "The idea that was put out in the Kendrick song is what R. Kelly is actually locked up for. Now, this information is out here. This could be used, right? And either they give Kendrick everything, he wins everything..."
He added, "Then he does this amazing Super Bowl performance, and right after, they say it's the worst Super Bowl performance."
Kanye explained that the scenario highlighted all he's been saying about black people being used against each other.
He concluded, "This is what I've been saying. They use black people against each other and when they are done with their agenda, they're gonna kick you out. That's my perspective on it."
Before Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, Kanye raised eyebrows when he asked the rapper to call for Diddy's freedom.
In a now-deleted X post, Kanye wrote, "KENDRICK LAMAR NEEDS TO SCREAM FREE PUFF FROM THE SUPER BOWL STAGE AND WE ALL KNOW WHY."
He added, "AND IM GOING TO RESPECTFULLY LEAVE IT LIGHT JUST LIKE THAT, BUT THATS THE HYPOCRISY ONE N-GGAS IN JAIL, AND THE OTHER N-GGA IS AT THE SUPER BOWL."
Lamar, who performed "Humble," "Not Like Us" and many of his hit songs at the halftime show, didn't heed Kanye's call. However, that didn't stop Ye from praising his performance.
Kanye had engaged in an antisemitic rampage on X, infuriating many people with his antics.
Besides posting offensive comments about Jews, Ye also posted pornographic content, made questionable comments about his wife, and even had some things to say about former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Following Kanye's X rants, many celebrities, including "Friends" star David Schwimmer, criticized him and called for X owner Elon Musk to take action against him.
Eventually, Kanye decided to leave the social media platform on his own terms.
Per Sky News, he posted the following, "I'm logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. Till we connect again. Good afternoon and goodnight."
After the post, Kanye seemingly deactivated his X account, bringing an end to his venomous posts on the platform.

There's only one Jordon Hudson confidant willing to talk about her — here's what he said

There have been many descriptors added to Jordon Hudson's name over the past 12 months as her relationship with Bill Belichick has come under intense scrutiny. For the lone Hudson confidant who has spoken publicly about the former college cheerleader, one label transcends new heights. 'I consider her a supernova,' celebrity hairstylist Dougie Freeman, who likened his one-time employee to the phenomenon described by NASA as the 'extremely bright, super powerful explosion of a star,' said in a new interview with The Athletic. Facebook/West End Salon and Spa Freeman believes the Massachusetts town, regarded as one of the most welcoming and friendly LGBTQ+ locales in the country, helped to broaden Hudson's horizons. 'Growing up in this town, she saw how alternative relationships work. They can work,' Freeman said. 'I think that validated it for her.' WireImage 'She seems to be doing fine,' said Freeman, who 'last spoke to Hudson via a series of internet DMs,' per The Athletic. 'She said, 'I understand you're going to do an interview with the Washington Post.' And I said, 'I said a lot of nice things about you, I think you'll be pleased with it.' And I assume she was.' Getty Images Although there has been much speculation about Hudson's role in Chapel Hill — much of which began after a disastrous 'CBS Sunday Morning' appearance in April, when she punted a question about the origins of the Belichick relationship — the eight-time Super Bowl winner clarified her position in an ESPN interview last month. 'That's really off to the side, it's a personal relationship. She doesn't have anything to do with UNC football,' Belichick said. With the Tar Heels' season opener against TCU approaching on Sept. 1, all eyes remain on Belichick and Hudson — something Freeman cautioned as her star continues to rise. 'Fame comes with some barbs,' he said. 'And it doesn't always come with fortune.' Hudson and Belichick first crossed paths aboard a flight in 2021. They celebrated their four-year meet-iversary in February.

Here's What Advice Kendrick Lamar Gave Ray Vaughn During His Battle With Joey Bada$$

When you have a cerebral rap savant like Kendrick Lamar in your Rolodex, who wouldn't take advantage of that? Ray Vaughn revealed that he sought out Kendrick's guidance on certain tracks during his battle with Joey Bada$$. The Top Dawg Entertainment rapper stopped by The Bootleg Kev Podcast on Friday (June 6), where he opened up about what advice he received from Lamar. More from Billboard BRIT Awards 2026 to Be Held Outside London for First Time Mariah Carey's 'Type Dangerous' Tops This Week's Favorite New Music Poll Wayne Lewis, Atlantic Starr Singer and Founder Member, Dies at 68 'I can call him,' he said of Lamar. 'I'm on the phone when I'm going at Joey [Bada$$], 'Ay, do you f–k with this?' I always get feedback. It still got a protocol.' Vaughn said some of the advice he got from Lamar was that less is more at times, as suggested he remove ad-libs from tracks. 'If anything, it's take something out. Like ad-libs, take some ad-libs about,' he continued. 'Or if it's not, it didn't come out… It's still the way we run TDE, it's still the same thing. You've got to go down the line. When they post it, it's going on TDE's page. N—a, you speaking and it's coming from our side, come correct.' The Long Beach rapper also confirmed that he received advice from TDE's Ab-Soul, but stated that he 'couldn't go too far' due to the nature of Soul's relationship with Joey. Joey Bada$$ continued to bait Kendrick Lamar by taking swipes at the Compton MC, but Lamar never ended up issuing an official response. After a series of jabs earlier this year, Ray Vaughn lit the fuse with his 'Justin Credible Freestyle' in May, which sparked over a dozen diss tracks being heaved back-and-forth with drops from Bada$$, Daylyt, Ray Vaughn, Reason, Az Chike, Kai Ca$h and even Ab-Soul and YG. Vaughn contributed plenty of fuel to the fire with 'Crashout Heritage,' 'Impossible Patty,' 'Hoe Era' and 'Golden Eye.' He clarified to Bootleg Kev that there's 'no real beef' with Joey and claimed, 'It's good for the sport.' 'We got all the podcasters [and] hip-hop media talking about hip-hop. Not who's texting who, not who's f—ing who,' he added. 'We pushed hip-hop to the forefront again.' Watch Ray Vaughn speak about Kendrick Lamar below. SiR Claims Drake, Kendrick Lamar Beef Resulted In Toronto Concert Cancellation

SiR is pointing fingers at Drake, claiming the rap superstar may have had a direct hand in the cancellation of a scheduled concert in Toronto last year. During a recent live show in Canada, the Top Dawg Entertainment singer opened up to fans about the behind-the-scenes drama that led to the nixed tour date, which would've occurred in July 2024. 'So the venue in Toronto, which was partially owned by Drake, cancelled the show completely,' SiR revealed to the crowd in a now-viral clip. 'Then when we tried to switch venues, the next venue was like, 'Nah we ain't f**cking with it, I ain't taking no motherf**cking chance.'' The Inglewood native went on to explain that he 'kinda got caught' in the crossfire of the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, citing 'complications' that were 'too close to home for a lot of people.' The cancellation came in the wake of Lamar's explosive diss track 'Not Like Us,' which took direct aim at Drake and has since become central in the latter's ongoing lawsuit against Universal Music Group. Initially, SiR took a diplomatic stance, apologizing to his Toronto fans and attributing the cancellation to the venue. 'So sorry to my Toronto fans. The show has been cancelled. We're working on rescheduling for a later date,' he wrote on social media. 'For those wondering, we sold that show out. It was cancelled by the venue. Not sure why. My apologies again to those that came just to see me.' SiR isn't the only TDE member affected. In 2024, ScHoolboy Q hinted that his own Toronto stop was similarly blocked, writing on X (formerly Twitter), 'THey just cancelled my sHow in TORONTO,' followed by a laughing emoji. 'CANADIAN POLICE DONT WANT NOBODY FROM TDE PERFORMING.' See footage of SiR addressing his cancelled Toronto concert below.
