John Cena Talks SUPERMAN's Impact on PEACEMAKER Season 2 and His Loyalty to James Gunn — GeekTyrant

With James Gunn's Superman soaring high in both critical and box office circles, eyes are now on what that success means for the second season of Peacemaker . According to series star John Cena, the positive momentum is a good sign for the future of the DCU—and for the man behind the vision. When asked about his surprise Superman cameo, Cena didn't hesitate to credit Gunn for the easy decision to jump in. "The cameo came about because he asked me, and he could ask me to go to the ends of the Earth and if I could do it, then I'll do it. He's one of the people on a short list, which I admire and respect and really do as much as I can for them. He's changed my life completely, as I stand here in [the Peacemaker costume]." It's that deep respect for Gunn that makes Cena especially excited to see the audience rally behind Superman as the new DC Universe's foundation. "I think to have audiences around the world, embrace James' vision of Superman, which is James' vision for the DCU, is exciting for all of us. It shows that people are interested and they know that Superman is more than just a standalone movie. It's an installment in something larger and I think everyone is eager to see the next chapter." That next chapter is Peacemaker Season 2, which will keep its gritty, unfiltered tone but go even deeper into the DCU web Gunn is weaving. The new season finds Peacemaker facing a version of life he's always dreamed of, only to be forced into a reckoning with his past and an uncertain future. James Gunn returns to write all eight episodes and directs three, including the season opener. Cena is back in full gear, joined once again by Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, and Steve Agee, as the crew steps into a bigger narrative than ever before. This time, the story stretches far beyond Team Peacemaker. Frank Grillo enters the scene as Rick Flag Sr., connecting threads between Superman , Creature Commandos , and what lies ahead for the DCU. Fans can also look forward to crossover appearances from Superman characters like Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Sean Gunn as the shady Maxwell Lord. On top of all that, Peacemaker Season 2 will introduce a new face with Red St. Wild, played by Michael Rooker, another staple of Gunn's cinematic world. With Superman clearing the runway and Peacemaker set to take off again, it's looking like a wild, fun, and connected ride ahead for DC fans.

Brad Pitt's mother Jane Pitt dies at 84, family mourns her loss

Brad Pitt 's mother, Jane Pitt, has died at the age of 84, the actor's niece, Sydney Pitt, announced this week. According to her obituary, Jane Pitt died on Tuesday, Aug. 5. She is survived by her husband William Alvin "Bill" Pitt and their children, Brad Pitt, Doug Pitt and Julie Neal (née Pitt). In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Sydney Pitt, Doug Pitt's daughter, wrote a touching tribute to her grandmother, celebrating her legacy and the love she gave to others. "My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier," she wrote in the caption alongside photos of Jane Pitt throughout her life. "If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked," she continued. "She taught me how to paint, how to be strong, how to lead with kindness, to love Jesus through everything, and to find joy in the smallest things. She made up the silliest games just to make us laugh, and she believed in fairness, in putting others first, and doing good simply because it was the right thing to do." Sydney Pitt also recalled how every year before school, Jane would give each grandchild a "special day," filled with activities like banana splits, board games and rides at Silver Dollar City. "She could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat. There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it," Sydney Pitt added. "I don't know how we move forward without her. But I know she's still here in every brushstroke, every kind gesture, every hummingbird. She was love in its purest form." "We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up and I know she lives on through each of us ♥️🪽✨🦜," she concluded the post. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Jane Pitt was a former elementary school teacher who raised Brad Pitt and her two other children with her husband, Bill Pitt, in Springfield, Missouri. While Jane Pitt and Bill typically avoided the spotlight, they occasionally accompanied their famous son on the red carpet, including at the 2012 Oscars and the 2014 premiere of Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken." Her obituary also highlights Jane Pitt's passion for art and her devoted role as a grandmother. "Jane was a gifted artist who expressed herself most vividly through painting," the obituary read. "Her love for art became a cherished bond between her and her grandchildren during craft sessions and painting lessons that created lasting memories." "Known affectionately as 'Grammy,' Jane found immense joy in celebrating each grandchild's uniqueness through one-on-one traditions lovingly known as 'Your Special Day,'" the note continued. "These treasured moments remain among the fondest memories for all fourteen of her grandchildren."

THE BATMAN: PART II Production Start Date Confirmed For Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight Return — GeekTyrant

The Batman: Part II has locked in its production start date, and the wait for the next chapter of Matt Reeves' brooding Bat-saga is finally moving forward. Ever since The Batman hit theaters back in 2022 with Robert Pattinson donning the cape and cowl, fans have been waiting to dive back into Reeves' gritty, noir take on Gotham City. The film cleaned up at the global box office, raking in $772.3 million and setting the stage for Reeves' Batman Epic Crime Saga , which expanded with this year's The Penguin starring Colin Farrell. Now we've got a solid update on when cameras will start rolling. According to a listing on via ComicBookMovie, The Batman: Part II is set to begin filming on January 1, 2026, at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London. The listing reveals that 'pre-production is ramping up in London,' and adds: 'Production leads are organizing departments and hiring for production design, art direction, stunt coordination, costume, makeup, grip, lighting, camera, VFX, and post-production planning. 'Leavesden offers access to high-end soundstages and set-building facilities—ideal for Gotham's gritty transformation and sweeping practical environments.' Plot details are still tightly sealed, but there is a glimpse into what the sequel will explore. According to the listing: 'The sequel explores Gotham's slow recovery from the devastating flood caused by the Riddler in the previous film, tackling themes of societal division, power dynamics, and moral ambiguity. 'Reeves has described Batman's new journey as operating in a more complex and 'greyer' world — raising the stakes for character-driven tension and visual storytelling.' The script, written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, was just recently completed. So while we're still in the dark on specific story beats, it's clear this next chapter will dive deeper into the psychological and political turmoil brewing in Gotham. Of course, Pattinson will return as the Dark Knight. The returning cast also includes Farrell, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. The site also notes that Barry Keoghan is 'expected' to return as the Joker, though Warner Bros. hasn't officially confirmed that just yet. The Batman: Part II is set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
