Sean McVay was excited about the way Matthew Stafford's workout went on Saturday when the Los Angeles Rams quarterback threw 60-plus passes without limitations. McVay anticipated Stafford returning to practice on Monday but things still aren't going according to plan.
Stafford was dressed in street clothes and is not practicing, which was supposed to be his first day back on the field since minicamp. He won't be participating as originally planned, once again raising concerns about his condition as the season approaches.
While players were on the field, Stafford reportedly went into an Ammortal chamber at practice.
Here's how the Ammortal Chamber is described on the company's website: "The Ammortal Chamber quickly calms your nervous system, shifting you out of fight-or-flight mode so your body can fully absorb the various modalities and stimulate recovery."
McVay will address reporters after practice and give an update on Stafford's status, hopefully explaining why he sat out Monday's session.

NFL analyst says this Rams defender could be a first-time Pro Bowler in 2025

The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of potential Pro Bowlers heading into the 2025 season. Jared Verse, the only Rams player to make the Pro Bowl in 2024, is the most likely one to earn another nod. Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and Kyren Williams are all good enough to make the team, too. But Kevin Patra believes one other Rams player has the chance to make his first Pro Bowl: Defensive end Braden Fiske. Seemingly every report out of Rams camp this summer has touched on Fiske standing out in a crowded defensive front. The focus most of the offseason had rightly been on Jared Verse, a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, but Fiske deserves some love. Last season, Fiske generated 44 pressures and 8.5 sacks -- not too shabby for a rookie DT. His 10.9% QB pressure rate ranked ninth among all defensive tackles last season. While big men rarely walk from college to the Pro Bowl, we do generally see sizeable leaps from the truly elite after a full offseason in the NFL. Fiske boasts the power, interior quickness, strength and hands to be a menace alongside Verse, Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Poona Ford and the rest of the Rams' fearsome front. Fiske had the accolades to make it as a rookie, but defensive end is harder with bigger names like Nick Bosa or Micah Parsons on the board. He'll need to have another insane season to make the Pro Bowl, but he's proven to have the ability to garner almost double-digit sacks on his own. If Fiske can make the Year 2 leap, there's no reason why he can't also earn a Pro Bowl nod in 2025.

Brian Baldinger loved watching Willie Lampkin dominate the Cowboys: 'He destroyed them'

Baldinger had so much fun watching Lampkin serve up pancakes and 'destroy' the Cowboys Willie Lampkin put himself on the map as a promising young player last week in his preseason debut, standing out in the Los Angeles Rams' win over the Dallas Cowboys. He was the Rams' highest-graded player at PFF, dominating at center from the second he stepped on the field. NFL Network's Brian Baldinger highlighted Lampkin's performance on social media in one of his 'Baldy's Breakdowns' segments, raving about the way the rookie played in his debut. 'He just put the Cowboys in an octagon and he destroyed them all game long,' Baldinger said. 'He just takes the Cowboys and he just disses them the entire time. It didn't matter who was there. Like, pancakes are being served.' Part of the reason Lampkin generated so much buzz last week is that he's only 5-foot-10, 270 pounds – or at least that's what he weighed in at during the Senior Bowl. He's tiny by NFL standards, but he plays much bigger than that. He naturally has great leverage as a shorter player, similar to the way Aaron Donald did at defensive tackle. And with a wrestling background, he knows how to take guys to the ground and erase them from the play. 'It's one play after another,' Baldinger said. 'Give me Dana White right here because he's going to flat-back this rookie right here, he's got him on his back, then he's got the knee to the head. Is that legal in MMA? I'm not sure. Ask Dana.' Baldinger had a blast watching all the pancake blocks Lampkin had, planting defenders on their backs. 'It just kept going on and on and it was fun to watch. Down he goes. It's just a pancake and a finish. Throw some butter on it, whip it with syrup, serve it for breakfast, serve it for lunch, serve it for dinner. I'm not supposed to do this rookie lineman, but it was so much fun to watch, like, the Cowboys never want to see this guy again. He literally threw them all out of the octagon.' Lampkin is competing to make the Rams' 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie out of North Carolina. He still has work to do but he's off to a great start and looks like he could have the makings of a gem for Los Angeles.

Sports Illustrated predicts Rams' 2025 season

The Los Angeles Rams' 2025 season can go in a few different directions depending on how the rest of the preseason unfolds. On its surface, this is a team that can go toe-to-toe with the defending NFC and Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. The Rams retained their best players and added additional weapons on offense in Davante Adams and Terrance Ferguson. The defense, too, is developing with one of the best young defensive lines in the league. However, the health of Stafford and the offensive line is a major concern. And those issues could trickle into the regular season and affect the Rams' ability to reach their potential. Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr went through every single game for the 2025 regular season and predicted the Rams will go 10-7. He has the Rams starting off poorly, again, with a 3-4 record heading into the bye week before finishing on a three-game winning streak. Let's hope the Stafford injury is the red herring of the offseason, though if it is not, we have the potential of a total exercise-imploding injury that can reshape the NFC West. I have early losses to Houston—DeMeco Ryans could bring the heat on Stafford, knowing his mobility is challenged—and Jacksonville. Who else with a bad back doesn't love a cross-the-globe flight to London and a 6:30 a.m. start time in your home market? Other highlights include: A Week 3 win over the Eagles, two losses to the San Francisco 49ers, two wins against the Seattle Seahawks and 1-1 vs. the Arizona Cardinals. Here is Orr's full prediction: A torrid end to the season should catapult the Rams into the postseason, as their record would be one game behind the 49ers' 11-6 record. L.A. would be the No. 5 seed in the playoffs and play ... the Eagles in the Wild Card round. Wouldn't that be a wild playoff rematch?
