Dakota Johnson Learned ‘Dating Sucks' Amid Chris Martin Breakup Rumors
Dakota Johnson shares what she learnt about dating amid Chris Martin split rumors
Rumors of Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin's breakup have recently made headlines, with the actor revealing her thoughts on dating. Amid the speculations, she appears to be focused on her career. Her latest movie, 'Materialists,' has been generating buzz among fans and critics alike. While promoting the film, the actor told Deadline what she had learned about dating. Without missing a beat, she admitted that 'dating sucks.'
Johnson described 'Materialists' as a movie with frequently asked questions about love at its core. The actor explained that the on-screen dilemma mirrors a concern many face in reality. The 35-year-old said, 'People think they're supposed to have a certain kind of life, because of what it looks like on the internet.' She emphasized it would 'feel better to just feel truly loved.'
Johnson also talked about the film's director, Celine Song. She shared, 'She [Song] felt people were more honest with her than they would be with friends or family, or even their therapist.' Reflecting on the reason, the actor said, 'People become so desperate to lock down a certain ideal.' She further shared how it was fascinating that 'it was more about material aspects of living than it was about emotional, visceral, soulful aspects.'
Finally, she told the outlet, 'And I also learned that dating sucks.' Clarifying her stance, she explained, 'I don't have personal experience, but I know from friends of mine that trying to find your person is just difficult.' She added, 'It's both beautiful and scary and I think it makes every human question their worth, which is sad.'
Despite Dakota Johnson's ongoing rumors about a potential breakup with Chris Martin, the actor acknowledged that there was no guaranteed path to love and dating. She said, 'There's no right or wrong answer to love.'

Cameron Boyce's mom thanks Adam Sandler for honoring son in ‘Happy Gilmore 2'
Cameron Boyce may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. The late actor was just 20 years old when he died in 2019 after experiencing an unexpected epileptic seizure in his sleep, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. At the time, Boyce was expected to appear in Adam Sandler's 2020 film 'Hubie Halloween.' Sandler included a tribute for Boyce following a blooper sequence at the end of the film. 'In loving memory of Cameron Boyce. Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew,' the 2020 tribute read, according to Deadline. 'You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day,' the tribute concluded. Now five years later, Sandler is still finding ways to honor Boyce with his newest film, 'Happy Gilmore 2,' which was released July 25, per IMDB. At one point in the film, Sandler is walking up to a check-in booth with a golf bag on his shoulder. The people working the booth were watching a show on TV. The show was Disney Channel's 'Jessie,' according to People, and the the TV was playing a scene that included Boyce — who played Luke Ross in the series from 2011 to 2015. On July 28, Boyce's mom, Libby, took to Instagram to personally thank Sandler for including her son in the movie. 'Thank you (Adam Sandler) for honoring Cam's legacy in Happy Gilmore 2,' she wrote in the caption alongside a photo of the scene. She also included a photo of a younger Boyce with Sandler and a video of Sandler talking about her son during an appearance at the 2024 Cameron Boyce Foundation's 3rd Annual Cam For A Cause Gala. 'He was one of the nicest kids I've ever met, funniest kids I ever met,' he said in the interview. 'I just love talking about him and thinking of him and his parents. Proud to be here.' In a separate Instagram post, Boyce's mom shared a screenshot of a Hollywood Reporter article about her son's surprise cameo in 'Happy Gilmore 2.' In the caption, she opened up about the bond her son had with Sandler. 'Adam and Cameron talked quite a bit in the days leading up to his death,' Boyce's mom wrote. 'Cameron was supposed to be in Hubies Halloween and they were strategizing.' 'They had a bond I think related to being authentic, funny and just keeping it real. Adam always finds a way to keep Cams memory alive which warms our heart,' she added. Sandler and Boyce first worked together in 2010 on the set of Sandler's 'Grown Ups' film, where Boyce played Sandler's on-screen son, per IMDB. Both Boyce and Sandler reprised those roles in the 2013 sequel 'Grown Ups 2.' After Boyce died, Sandler took to X (formerly Twitter) in memory of his former co-star. 'Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around,' the actor wrote at the time. 'Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken,' he added.

We Just Got Our First Look at Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet in Netflix's "Pride and Prejudice" Series
"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." It is a truth universally acknowledged that Jane Austen fans must be in want of a new Jane Austen adaptation. Luckily for us Austen devotees, Netflix has come to the rescue. Production on Pride & Prejudice, a new six-part limited series helmed by beloved UK author Dolly Alderton, is officially in production. Published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice is arguably Austen's most famous novel. The story has previously been adapted into multiple formats, notably with the BBC's 1995 miniseries that starred Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth and Joe Wright's 2005 film that starred Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. Pride and Prejudice will be Netflix's second stab at an Austen adaptation, following their divisive take on Persuasion back in 2022. The news comes amid Netflix's recent success with another Regency-era romance series: Bridgerton. Adapted from Julia Quinn's romance novel series, the show follows the courtships and eventual marriages of siblings from the noble Bridgerton family. It is currently in production for its fourth season. Ahead, everything we know so far about the latest entry to the Jane Austen cinematic universe. Meet the cast. It's official: Emma Corrin (The Crown, Nosferatu) and Jack Lowden (Mary Queen of Scots, Dunkirk) will officially take on the roles of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy in the six-part limited Netflix series. Corrin will have an onscreen reunion with her former costar on The Crown, Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Lost Daughter), who will play family matriarch Mrs. Bennet. 'Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,' Corrin, who is also executive producing, said in a statement provided to Deadline. 'To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly's phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honour. I can't wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.' Iconic Pride and Prejudice adaptations in the past have featured Jennifer Ehle and Keira Knightley as protagonist Elizabeth Bennett, the witty and second-eldest sister of the Bennett family. Meanwhile, Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen have previously portrayed Elizabeth's love interest, the haughty and incredibly wealthy Fitzwilliam Darcy. Other cast additions include Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourg. Newcomers Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery will make their onscreen debuts as Mary Bennet and Kitty Bennet. Here's our first look at the series. On July 29, Netflix dropped the first still from the adaptation, which showed the five Bennet sisters walking in a field with their mother, Mrs. Bennet. Dolly Alderton is writing the scripts. Deadline reports that Dolly Alderton, a novelist and screenwriter, has been tasked with bringing Austen's manuscript to life. 'Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,' Alderton said in a statement, per Deadline. 'Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy—it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr. Darcy.' Alderton has previously adapted her debut book—a 2018 memoir titled Everything I Know About Love—into a BBC rom-com series. Most recently, she released her debut novel, Good Material, in 2023. If you're worried that Netflix might Bridgerton-ify Pride and Prejudice, lay your fears to rest. Netflix promises that the show 'will be a faithful, classic adaptation of the novel.' In 'Freakier Friday,' Manny Jacinto plays Lindsay Lohan's love interest. Why his leading man status is a big deal.
Jacinto hive, rejoice: Our boy's a romantic lead. At this point, it's an undeniable fact: Manny Jacinto is in his leading man era. It's been a whirlwind few years for Jacinto, who is currently on the press tour for Freakier Friday, the Freaky Friday sequel out Aug. 8. A follow-up to its 2003 predecessor, Freakier Friday sees Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprise their roles as body-swapping mother-daughter duo Anna and Tess Coleman, who find themselves in familiar territory two decades later, only this time, Anna's daughter and stepdaughter-to-be are thrown into the mix. Jacinto plays Eric Davies, Anna's husband-to-be, who's completely unaware that his fiancée has swapped places with his stepdaughter-to-be, and that his daughter has traded places with his soon-to-be mother-in-law. The 37-year-old actor is aware of how big this opportunity is. 'It's wild that I get to do this. I never would have thought I'd play the love interest to Lindsay Lohan; I watched Lindsay Lohan as a kid,' he told InStyle in an interview published Tuesday morning. 'It's wild what you can do if you put your mind to it.' More than starring opposite Lohan, Jacinto was mostly drawn to the role because of its significance to the Asian American community. It's not often we see a man who looks like Jacinto in such a mainstream role — and he knows that. 'I mean, you don't get to see a lot of Asian American males as a love interest, or as a solid father figure, and that was definitely the part that enticed me about it,' Jacinto told Deadline last week. With Freakier Friday, Jacinto fully seizes his leading man potential. For fans who have been following him since The Good Place, his rise to fame — and newly minted heartthrob status — is a point of pride. 'Without giving the algebra of representation too much credit, there's something pleasurable about seeing an Asian man romancing anyone and getting a break from the more familiar interracial combo of white man/AAPI woman,' Veronica Fitzpatrick, a Filipino American adjunct assistant professor of modern culture and media at Brown University, told Yahoo. 'That we're seeing it in a mainstream film like Freakier Friday … helps further normalize the very normal, very not-novel idea that AAPI men have sex appeal and romantic currency.' Raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Filipino Canadian actor nabbed his breakthrough role on NBC's The Good Place, where he charmed audiences as the often aloof but well-intentioned Floridian Jason Mendoza. From there, Jacinto landed a starring role on the Nicole Kidman-led series Nine Perfect Strangers before appearing in her ex-husband's blockbuster hit Top Gun: Maverick a year later, despite all his lines famously being cut. Jacinto's rise to the top has been slow and steady, though his portrayal of brooding Sith Lord the Stranger on Disney+'s The Acolyte triggered a shift in how Hollywood perceives him: as an Asian male worthy of a lead role. Jacinto has even received the TikTok treatment: He was the subject of several shirtless, lustful edits on the app that had loyal Acolyte fans rethinking their allegiances. 'The Stranger flips classic gender tropes of hypersexualization,' Leslye Headland, The Acolyte's creator and showrunner, previously told GQ. 'But a true sex symbol is someone who resonates emotionally with fans. Manny's magnetism is rooted in his acting, not just his physique. His ability to access vulnerability, empathy and longing is very compelling.' Women, it seems, have played a crucial part in Jacinto's continued success and rise to stardom. His female fans are plentiful, but Jacinto is especially moved by the championing that women behind the scenes are doing for him. Without them, he told InStyle, his career wouldn't have gone in the direction that it has. 'Women have been a huge champion for me. It's always been women who have been able to look past what I have done and see the potential of what I can do,' he said, naming Kidman, Headland and Freakier Friday's Nisha Ganatra. 'Thank God I get to do this during this day and age when there are so many women at the top … who see my potential and are not afraid to explore that.' Solve the daily Crossword
