Residents mystified by naked ‘gimp mask' night stalker
He was first spotted after being captured on a car dashcam on Westby Street, in the heart of the Victorian resort, at just before 1am on Friday July 18.
Locals say the clip was then shared on the street's WhatsApp group and more footage from the night was revealed, which was posted on Facebook and has now gone viral.
The clips show a young man, calmly striding down the street, naked but for his trainers and black mask.
'It's a gimp mask, I've watched the footage,' said one resident, who did not want to be named.
'I've no idea what he thinks he's doing,' he added.
'In the days after, we saw a young man, fully clothed, walking around the streets, looking up and around, seemingly checking for cameras.
'We think it's the same man.'
The resident, who was stood alongside his wife, said he knew of no 'alternative lifestyle' establishments locally which may provide a clue to the mystery.
Locals also said Lytham, unlike its close neighbour Blackpool, does not get stag and hen parties visiting the town.
Lancashire Police said the incident took place on Westby Street, Cleveland Road and Bannister Street.
A spokesman said: 'We are aware of a concerning video circulating on social media of a naked male wearing a face covering walking around Lytham in the early hours of the morning.
'This incident was not initially reported to police and has only been brought to our attention after it has been viewed on Facebook.
'Fylde Rural Task Force are currently conducting CCTV and house‑to‑house inquiries and would like to reassure you that we are taking this matter seriously.'

WhatsApp's parent company Meta says it has taken down millions of scam accounts that were targeting users globally. Millions of scam accounts have been removed from WhatsApp. Meta, the popular messaging app's parent company, has claimed it took down 6.8million accounts which were linked to scams in the first half of this year. The tech giant says that many of these suspicious accounts were tied to organised criminals in South East Asia, who often used forced labour to carry out scams targeting users all over the world. It comes as Meta announced new safety measures for WhatsApp, which aim to warn users of potential scams and fraudulent activity. This mass deletion of millions of accounts specifically targeted criminal operations which involve adding users to group chats to promote false investment schemes and other scams. And as AI continues to evolve, these scams have only gotten smarter. In one case, WhatsApp worked with Meta and OpenAI to disrupt scams linked to a Cambodian criminal group. The scammers were offering cash for likes on social media posts promoting a fake rent-a-scooter pyramid scheme, reported the BBC. Meta said scammers had used ChatGPT to create instructions issued to potential victims, who the cybercriminals would first contact with a text message before moving the conversation to social media or private messaging apps. These scams were usually completed on payment or cryptocurrency platforms. But while Meta says it has deleted 6.8million fraudulent accounts in the first half of this year alone, many claim the company should be doing more to prevent cyber crooks from being able to set up their scams in the first place. Consumer law expert Lisa Webb said: "Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp users are being inundated with fraudulent ads for everything from fake investment opportunities to dodgy products and non-existent job offers. "Meta needs to ensure that scams are prevented from ever appearing on its platforms in the first place. "Ofcom must now take action to enforce the parts of the Online Safety Act already in effect, and to issue robust rules governing fraudulent paid-for ads, so that tech firms are forced to take full responsibility for the content on their sites." The scam crackdown coincides with the UK's new Online Safety Act, which now requires social media platforms and websites to add age verification features to prevent young kids from accessing inappropriate content or pornography. Back in March, new rules requiring sites to protect all users from illegal content were introduced. And as of July 25, the Act introduced new rules specifically to protect children. The Gov website says: "Platforms are now required to use highly effective age assurance to prevent children from accessing pornography, or content which encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorder content. "Platforms must also prevent children from accessing other harmful and age-inappropriate content such as bullying, hateful content and content which encourages dangerous stunts or ingesting dangerous substances. Platforms must also provide parents and children with clear and accessible ways to report problems online when they do arise." To adhere to these rules, sites, search engines and social media apps must also use algorithms that can filter out harmful material for younger users. But many people have complained that the new law puts age restrictions on vital content and sites that should not be deemed 'adult', including Reddit forum threads on alcohol and even some Wikipedia sections. Chelsea call in police as £30k of equipment disappears from training ground
Investigations are underway after Chelsea called in police following the disappearance of expensive equipment from the west London team's Cobham training ground Police have been called into Chelsea's Coham training base after the disappearances of £30,000 worth of materials. The Blues have been rocked by the vanishing of camera equipment from their training ground. The west London side called in Surrey Police, according to reports, after the hi-tech gear was lost and the incident was deemed suspicious enough to involve authorities. Despite that, it is said it remains unclear whether the equipment has been mislaid but the severity of the incident has seen action taken in a bid to resolve the mystery. The equipment is utilised by the world champions as they illustrate technical and tactical plans and issues. The Blues returned to training on Monday after requiring a late summer break following their Club World Cup campaign. They had little time to rest ahead of the tournament in the United States and defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the final to add a second trophy to Enzo Maresca's collection after UEFA Conference League success. The club's time in the US did not come to an end until July 13, meaning Chelsea's stars had just three weeks to recover. Maresca's side kickstart their Premier League term on August 17. The Blues have already been hit by injury in their preparations too. Glasgow mum who vanished from sun lounger in Greece 'spotted walking away' from beach

A mum who mysteriously vanished from her sun lounger in Greece almost a week ago was spotted walking away from the beach and had gone missing before, sources have claimed. A major search on land and sea was launched after the 59-year-old's Greek husband, Christos, woke to find her gone and her possessions left behind. Now Greek media has reported that sources saw her walking away from the scene, despite previous reports that the outdoor enthusiast had been seen swimming out in deep waters. Llia Live said information suggested Michele 'had disappeared in London in 2020' and was 'later found by the police'. It said: 'Some claim that they saw her swimming in the deep waters of the sea and others that they saw her walking away from the scene.' Michele was last seen on a sun bed at Ofryni beach on August 1, where she had been lying by her husband. Christos is said to have woken up to find her missing and her belongings abandoned before raising the alarm. Despite reports from a sports instructor that she had been seen out at sea and warned not to swim any further, no sign of her was found despite a major search operation by Greece's Hellenic Coast Guard. It is reported that three recreational craft, five fishing boats and two patrol boats were involved in looking for her. Police searches have been carried out on land in the area surrounding the beach, which is covered by extensive crops, houses and a large reservoir. Greek missing persons charity Lifeline Hellas put out a silver alert after police were unable to locate her. It read: 'Her life is in danger.' On Tuesday, a fresh image released to the media in Greece showed her eating alongside her husband at a beachside restaurant on the morning of her disappearance. Meanwhile, a local shopkeeper told the Greek media Michele's husband visited his store looking for his wife soon after she vanished. It has been reported the pair were staying in a village in Serres. Back home in Glasgow, worried neighbours of the pair, who have lived in the four-bed detached property in Crookston for several years after moving from England to be close to their son, have shared their shock. One said: 'It's just horrendous. I can't imagine what the family are going through. The more days that pass by the likelihood of finding her well gets less and less. They were just trying to enjoy their retirement.' Another neighbour said the couple had a property in Greece and would often holiday there for a couple of months in the summer. They described the couple as 'very private' and 'always together', saying: 'They are very outdoorsy and active. They go out hillwalking and wild swimming.'
