📈 MLS Power Rankings: Miami fall off their perch, Cincinnati climb

Nashville rejoin the top-10 after a historic 7-2 win over Chicago over the weekend. Sam Surridge bagged four goals as B.J. Callaghan's side cruised back into the top-six in the Western Conference.
9. LAFC (👎)

LAFC just simply can't find the consistency they have been regularly hailed for over the years. A stoppage-time equalizer saved the SoCal club against St. Louis City on Sunday, meaning LAFC have dropped points for the second straight week.
8. Portland Timbers (👍)

The Timbers are on an absolute roll. Phil Neville's side have won five of their last seven games, and are unbeaten in eight. In the process they have racked up the joint-most goals scored in MLS. Look out Western Conference foes, Portland have found their counter-attacking feet once again.
7. Minnesota United (👎)

April has been a test of Minnesota United's mettle. The Loons have failed to win in three straight, two of which were goalless draws. But with the addition of Julian Gressel they should be getting better service into the dynamic duo of Tani Oluwaseyi and Kelvin Yeboah going forward.
6. Charlotte FC (👎)

Charlotte slip this week after their first defeat at home this season, falling to New England in a sluggish match. But thanks to three straight victories before tasting defeat at the weekend, Dean Smith's side remain right in the heart of the hotly-contested Eastern Conference.
5. Philadelphia Union (👍)

The Union are back up into the top-five after a comfortable victory over D.C. United. Philadelphia have now won their last two games by a combined score of 6-0 and look well on track to rediscover the red-hot form we saw in the opening few weeks of the season.
4. Inter Miami (👎)

The Herons have fallen off their perch once again after tasting defeat in dramatic fashion at home against FC Dallas. Defensive vulnerabilities have been apparent for Javier Mascherano's side all season, but somehow it took until the last weekend in April for a team to really exploit them.
3. FC Cincinnati (👍)

Look out ladies and gentlemen, FC Cincinnati are flying once again. Pat Noonan and the club's decision makers put together one of the strongest squads during the winter transfer window and they are finally reaping the rewards after a fifth-straight victory.
2. Columbus Crew (👍)

After the Crew saw their unbeaten run come to an end against Inter Miami, they bounced back in superb fashion with a gutsy win over San Jose on Saturday. It may not be the same superstars pulling the strings for Columbus as we've seen in recent seasons, but Wilfried Nancy's team always seems to find a way to perform.
1. Vancouver Whitecaps (👍)

Look it is, folks. The Vancouver Whitecaps are back on top and deservedly so. Just days after a stunning Champions Cup win over Inter Miami, Vancouver collected a comfortable victory over Minnesota United. Jesper Sørensen's side should not be considered a Cinderella story anymore, they are simply just one of the best teams in the league.

Details Emerge on New York Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns Decision
Details Emerge on New York Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It was an impressive season for the New York Knicks despite them coming up just short of reaching the NBA Finals. Advertisement New York finished third in the Eastern Conference in the regular season and they were then able to make a run to the Eastern Conference Finals after they eliminated both the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. This was the Knicks' first Conference Finals appearance since 2000 but they were unable to advance to the NBA Finals after being eliminated in six games by the Indiana Pacers. Of course, New York's addition of Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the offseason was a huge factor to their success this season and a new report by The Athletic's James L. Edwards III and Jon Krawczynski recently revealed why New York made the trade. Advertisement 'New York saw Towns and (Jalen Brunson) as a damaging offensive duo,' Edwards III and Krawczynski wrote. 'One of the best scoring guards in the league could have one of the greatest shooting big men at his disposal. The organization also viewed it as a way to get value back for (Julius) Randle, as the two sides were nowhere close on a deal to keep him in New York long term.' This is a key report as it is clear that the Knicks and Randle were destined to be heading in opposite ways down the road, which allowed New York to capitalize on his value to add a superstar center next to Brunson. The two also reported that the Knicks were 'initially reluctant' to include Donte DiVincenzo in the deal but they decided to do so anyway to land Towns. Advertisement Despite this, the addition of Towns has made the Knicks into title contenders and they will now look to upgrade their roster again this summer to try and make a championship run next season. Kevin Love compares James Dolan to Vince McMahon after Tom Thibodeau firing
The post Kevin Love compares James Dolan to Vince McMahon after Tom Thibodeau firing appeared first on ClutchPoints. When the New York Knicks officially fired Tom Thibodeau after coming up short in the Eastern Conference Finals, it took the sports world by storm. Advertisement Fans in New York were decidedly mixed, outside observers put the move into the context of their preferred fandoms, and some folks even had jokes on the matter, be they with lighthearted jabs or as biting rebuttals of his unique style of coaching. Five-time All-Star Kevin Love firmly fell into the final category but whether he meant to be funny or pointed remains to be seen, as he used the opportunity to compare Knicks owner James Dolan to disgraced former WWE owner Vince McMahon, who would often fire his employees – at least in a televised kayfabe sense – with the dramatic flair of a certified entertainer. Now, on the surface, this post is very funny, with Love's former teammate LeBron James yucking it up in the comments section with a series of laughing emojis, but underneath, what is the NBA Champion forward trying to say? Is he suggesting that Dolan is using the loss as a chance to shake things up in dramatic fashion, even if it was against his own self-interest? Advertisement As Love pointed out, Thibs was the first head coach to take the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years, and as was often the case with Mr. McMahon, the shortsighted decision to fire folks in the heat of the moment would often come back to bite him in the end. Is Dolan the heel running wild over the Knicks organization just like Mr. McMahon was in WWE? Or was this simply a funny opportunity for Love to make light of the situation? Whether the Knicks' decision was right or wrong remains to be seen, but with the proverbial deed officially done, fans will now have to wait and see what Dolan has cooking to get his organization past the highest ceiling they've reached this century. For the sake of Knicks fans, let's hope firing Tom Thibodeau doesn't blow up in Dolan's face like so many of McMahon's choices in WWE.
