British Supersport race tragedy as two riders dead after 'catastrophic' crash
Tragedy struck on just the first lap of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park, in Chesire on Monday.
Two motorbike riders have tragically died and six more injured in a 'catastrophic incident' at a British Championship race.
Tragedy struck on just the first lap of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park, in Chesire on Monday. Owen Jenner, 21, and Shane Richardson, 29, both suffered fatal injuries after a horror chain reaction saw 11 riders all crash from their bikes.
As the Mirror reports, the harrowing crash took place on the opening weekend of the British Superbikes season, which is scheduled to run for eight rounds across the UK, before three 'showdown' events. Australian Richardson was racing for the Astro-JJR Hippo Suzuki team, while British star Jenner was with Rapid Honda.
The Supersport Championship serves as a support series to the main Superbikes event. Richardson finished eighth in last year's standings after earning 146 points, while this was Jenner's second year racing in the championship.
Tom Tunstall, a 47-year-old rider for SRG Specialist Risk Group Ducati, has been transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital with significant back and abdominal injuries. Five other riders were treated at the track for minor injuries, while three more escaped unharmed.
Monday's tragic incident led to the cancellation of the remainder of the event. Motor Sport Vision Racing, who operate the Oulton Park track, confirmed a full investigation had been launched in conjunction with the Coroner and Cheshire Constabulary.

Lennon Miller cool on Celtic transfer interest as Sunderland join hunt for Motherwell sensation
The starlet is into the final 12 months of his contract at Fir Park and is not short of suitors Scotland new boy Lennon Miller has insisted his focus is more on pre-season with Motherwell than speculation over his future. Celtic are keeping close tabs on Miller's situation and were in contact with the Fir Park board in the last window. The talented teenager has also been linked with a list of European clubs including Eintracht Frankfurt and Royal Union St Gilloise. And English Premier League new boys Sunderland are also monitoring the playmaker's situation. All-action midfielder Miller is into the final year of contract with the Lanarkshire side. Michael Wimmer, before he left the Fir Park hot seat, predicted Miller would be sold this summer but the player is still in the dark over his future. He said: 'You never know. "I've got a year left on my contract so my focus is to go back into pre-season, work as hard as I can and get ready for the season. 'You get these big clubs mentioned, but it is only speculation. 'You just need to try and focus on what you're doing and that will all take care of itself.' The Steelman have already turfed out bids from Udinese and Gilloise. Disgraced NFL star Greg Hardy slams 'rumors' after shocking arrest for allegedly assaulting family member
Disgraced former NFL star and UFC fighter Greg Hardy is calling for privacy after his latest domestic violence arrest in Texas. On Tuesday, the 36-year-old posted video of himself at a trampoline park with a woman and two young children, presumed to be Hardy's partner, son and daughter. Hardy is seen kissing the woman in the video while the smiling children are playing on the trampoline. 'Please stop spreading what these chaos machines post, they don't know any facts then fuel the fire that effects (sic) my kids and my wife,' he wrote. 'Things get emotional but has never and will never be what you clowns are trying to spread. I ask with all my heart please, My family and I are all perfectly fine.' Hardy ended the post: 'Please stop spreading lies and rumors and give our family the time and space to work through it all in private.' Although he refers to her as his 'wife,' it's unclear if Hardy and the woman are actually married. Daily Mail has reached out to the Richardson (Texas) Police Department for further information and an incident report. Last week, the department reported Hardy allegedly put his hands on his partner after she accused him of infidelity. The one-time Dallas Cowboys defensive end is accused of pushing the woman and putting his hands around her neck. Police also reported scratches and redness on her body they believed to be 'consistent with a physical altercation,' according to police documents obtained by TMZ. Tai Tuivasa of Australia (top) takes down Greg Hardy in the first round in their heavyweight bout during UFC 264: Poirier v McGregor 3 at T-Mobile Arena on July 10, 2021 in Las Vegas Hardy admitted to police he was involved in a dispute with his partner, but claimed he simply moved her out of his way. He was arrested on a charge of 'assault causing bodily injury family member.' Hardy was infamously arrested on domestic violence allegations in May of 2014 when he was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend in Charlotte during his time with the Carolina Panthers. As the woman told Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, Hardy threw her down on a sofa that was covered in 'assault rifles and/or shotguns.' Hardy was found guilty of assault and communicating threats. He sentenced him to 18 months' probation, but appealed the decision, requesting a jury trial. When the accuser did not show in court, prosecutors dropped the charges. The prosecutors later claimed to have received 'reliable information' the two sides reached a settlement. Hardy was ultimately suspended 10 games, but that ban was then reduced to four games. He went on to sign with the Cowboys before embarking on a combat career in 2016. In total he has 13 MMA fights and four boxing bouts, although he's failed to distinguish himself in either arena.

Hamza Igamane sparks Rangers transfer battle as EPL and French clubs line up bids as stellar price tag set
The Moroccan frontman only joined Gers for £1.7million last summer Rangers striker Hamza Igamane is reportedly the subject of interest from clubs in the Premier League and Ligue 1. The Morocco international enjoyed a productive first season at Ibrox following his £1.7milion move from FAR Rabat last summer, notching 16 times in 46 matches in all competitions. Those displays have helped the 22-year-old make the breakthrough at international level, with Igamane making his senior bow for Morocco in a World Cup qualifying victory against Niger back in March. But reports out of France claim that new Gers boss Russell Martin will have a fight on their hands to keep a hold of the frontman ahead of the new season. Foot Mercato state that Igamane is a target for seven clubs from the top tiers in England and France. They claim that Everton, West Ham and Brentford have been joined by Lens, Lille, Rennes and Strasbourg in the race to land the Ibrox ace. Lille are in the market for a new attacker following talisman Jonathan David's pending exit on a free transfer while Rennes may look for a replacement for Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi, who is said to be surplus to requirements after just six months with the Ligue 1 club. However, they add that Rangers are under no pressure to sell the forward and that an asking price of €15million (£12.7million) will have to be met to take Igamane away from Govan. Fellow Ibrox frontman Cyriel Dessers has also been linked with an exit this summer, with Greek outfit AEK keen on the Nigeria international. But Record Sport has learned that Rangers won't be willing to listen to any offers of less than £5million for the 30-year-old. Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell's transfer coffers are set to be given a boost after new Ibrox owners 49ers Enteprises pledged to pump £20million into the recruitment drive. We have also has revealed that talks over potential deals for Leicester City defender Conor Coady and Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman are ongoing.
