Even when things were looking grim Saturday, Mika Buchnik took a moment to stop and look around.

She was on Court 5 of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, trailing badly in a first-round Wimbledon Girls' Singles match. Still, she wanted to capture the moment.
'This place is amazing,' Buchnik said. 'At one point when it was 4-love down, I just wanted to look around and remember how it feels, because I want to be back here. I really hope I can come here again. It's a reminder of why you're doing this.'
'This' is competing at the highest levels of pro tennis, and Buchnik is getting closer and closer to doing that. The 18-year-old Israeli has risen up the junior ranks to now being ranked No. 31 in the world.
Last September, she became the first Israeli – boy or girl – to win a J500 singles title, claiming the Osaka Mayor's Cup in Japan.

And Saturday she was back at Wimbledon, competing in singles for the second time in her career. She put up a great fight against No. 15 seed Ruien Zhang of China but ultimately lost, 7-5, 7-6(6).

Buchnik will also compete in the girls' doubles tournament; her first match there will be Monday at the earliest.
'If things had gone better lately, maybe I would take pride [in today's match],' Buchnik said a few minutes after walking off the court. 'But since things haven't gone well, it feels like another loss and I'm not happy.'
In Saturday's match, Buchnik played evenly with Zhang through the first set. But with Buchnik serving to force a tiebreaker at 5-6, Zhang was able to break serve for the first time and claimed the set.
The second set saw a wild swing of momentum. Zhang raced out to a 4-love lead, and it looked like the Israeli teen was about to be out of the tournament in a matter of minutes.

But then Buchnik's ground game steadied, Zhang started making errors, and suddenly it was 4-3 – and Zhang needed a medical timeout for treatment on her calf.
'For me, I don't think she was really injured, but that's part of the sport,' Buchnik said. 'I knew even if it was 4-love, that I could push a lot more, I had a lot more to give, and I could come back.
'I knew that she was getting worried, though, if she wanted to stop the match like that.'
The two battled all the way into a tiebreak, and there Zhang went up 6-3. But Buchnik saved three match points – helped by a crowd that had grown steadily and was supporting her – before finally succumbing.

Buchnik's parents, Golan and Lilach, looked on with pride as their daughter competed.
'We always enjoy seeing her playing, and are so proud of her,' Lilach said. 'Always a pleasure seeing her.'
Leaving Dudi Sela to train at Rafael Nadal for a week
Buchnik has seen her tennis level rise significantly over the past year. Last summer, she made the decision to leave the Dudi Sela Academy and train for a week at the prestigious Rafael Nadal Academy.
She loved the enormous number of coaches and staff there, and the setting in Manacor, Mallorca, Spain, where Nadal grew up.
'It's amazing because they have a coach for you for absolutely everything,' Buchnik said. 'A swing coach, a forehand coach, a mental coach, a physio—everything you could want.'

After a week there, Buchnik, from Tel Aviv, decided she wanted to stay – and the decision has done wonders for her tennis. (She is coached there by Miguel Fragoso and Polina Radeva.)
'There are so many great players there, so it helps training with them,' Buchnik said. 'I think I have definitely improved.'
The Buchniks have been traveling to major tournaments with Mika for a long time, even going to Australia for this year's Australian Open.
'They came all that way and I lost [in the] first round in singles and doubles,' Buchnik said with a laugh. 'I felt so bad. But they've been so incredible and supportive.'

Also in attendance at the Wimbledon match were a host of US college coaches, hoping to get Buchnik into their program. The University of Tennessee, Texas A&M, and the University of Virginia all had coaches watching her play.
But she's not sure if that's the next path for her.
'I still need to think about it – maybe go to college, maybe go back to the Academy,' Buchnik said. 'I have a lot of options, so I'm just not sure.'
Whatever path she chooses, this won't be the last time the tennis world hears from Mika Buchnik. Not even close.

Knebworth 2024 hint as Oasis star Noel Gallagher heaps praise on brother Liam

Noel Gallagher has given his inaugural interview since the commencement of the Oasis reunion tour, lauding his brother Liam for "smashing it" while confessing that his own legs "turned to jelly" on the opening night. He remained tight-lipped when questioned about the likelihood of the band performing at Knebworth next year, a milestone concert that many fans are eagerly anticipating and now hope might be possible. The 58 year old guitarist and Oasis songwriter chatted with his mates Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent on TalkSport about his favourite football team, Manchester City, before the conversation shifted to the monumental tour. This follows after Peggy Gallagher was spotted with a big star at an Oasis gig as she finally gets to see her sons' reunion tour. READ MORE: Nottingham Forest v Brentford player ratings as sensational duo on a different level in super win READ MORE: Nottingham Forest transfer need is clear but one move won't be beaten amid 'telepathic' beauty Regarding the reunion with Liam, Noel expressed: "I've been completely blown away. It's difficult to put into words. It's kind of every night is the crowd's first night, so every night has kinda got the same energy to it. But it's been truly amazing. I'm not usually short for words, but I can't really answer." Reflecting on the first night in Cardiff, the band's initial gig in nearly two decades, he added: "We're not really a band who kind of have huddles before we go on or anything like that.", reports the Mirror. "I can't speak for anywhere else, but for me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. After about five minutes I was like can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again. "I don't mind telling you my legs went to jelly about halfway through the second song and I could have done with going back. It has been an amazing thing." Noel then shared some warm words about his brother Liam. The duo have made a habit of walking out hand-in-hand for every show in Dublin, Edinburgh, London, their hometown of Wembley, and the opening weekend in Cardiff. Speaking about their on-stage embraces, he said: "We are not those kinda guys. It is great just to be back with Bonehead and Liam and just be doing it again. I guess when it is all said and done we will reflect on it. It's good being back in the band with Liam, I forgot how funny he was!". Commenting on Liam's universally praised vocals, he said: "Liam is smashing it, I am proud of him. Having fronted a band for 16 years I know how hard that is. I couldn't do the stadium thing like he does, I have gotta say man I look at him and think 'good for you mate'." When asked about Knebworth or the end of the tour, Noel responded with a chuckle: "Lets talk about football." He discussed Manchester City's recent victory and expressed his excitement for Oasis' upcoming performance at the River Plate stadium in Argentina this November. He added: "It's the penultimate show, and we've played there a few times before. Without a doubt, Argentina is one of our top five favourite places to perform worldwide. "We are going to Toronto on Friday and then we're in the States for the best part of a month and then Mexico and then back for two more Wembleys. "When it all started there were a few people who I thought would come looking for tickets but after the first gig my phone exploded. Once they had seen it online there was a mad scramble for it." He confessed it was extraordinary to witness countless supporters outside the venues singing along to the performances and remarked: "Something else is happening that we haven't put our fingers on yet." Oasis are touring for the first time in 16 years and have now finished their UK and Ireland dates apart from two additional Wembley performances when they return from America. Tickets became available last year and triggered extraordinary demand. The concerts, which kicked off in Cardiff on July 4, have garnered glowing reviews across the board and generated emotional moments both amongst audiences and on stage.

Today's Chelsea Daily Headlines

Chelsea Battle for Top Signings Amid Transfer Drama Chelsea's €50m offer for Alessandro Bastoni was rejected by Inter Milan. Nicolas Jackson linked with a move to Aston Villa as talks intensify. Xavi Simons prioritises Chelsea over Bayern and Man City amidst high demands from Leipzig. Teen sensation Estevao Willian impresses on debut against Crystal Palace. Injury-hit defence requires quick reinforcement ahead of challenging fixtures. Chelsea's transfer activity heats up as the squad battles on the field and in the market. Transfer Watch Chelsea's efforts to bolster their backline hit a hurdle as Inter Milan rebuffed a €50m bid for Alessandro Bastoni. With Levi Colwill sidelined due to an ACL injury, the hunt for a solid defender continues to be a priority. Bastoni's Champions League pedigree makes him a coveted target, but Inter's valuation exceeds Chelsea's initial offer. Meanwhile, in a potential exit, Nicolas Jackson has caught the eye of Aston Villa. With Chelsea open to selling, Villa may look to capitalise, although the Premier League summer window's end looms large. Another exciting transfer narrative is Xavi Simons' preference for Stamford Bridge. Despite RB Leipzig's hefty demands, the Dutch starlet has set Chelsea as his preferred destination, a testament to the club's lure over Bayern Munich and Manchester City. Leipzig's valuation of around €80m remains a stumbling block, but Chelsea hope to fund the move by offloading Christopher Nkunku, potentially to Bayern Munich. Injury News Chelsea's defensive frailties were further exposed after a goalless draw against Crystal Palace. With Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana out, and Tosin Adarabioyo on the mend, Enzo Maresca finds himself relying on young prospects like Josh Acheampong. The teenager, thrust into action due to necessity, shone with a poised performance that belied his years, earning him plaudits despite the lack of goals from Chelsea's attacking unit. Tactical Notes The Blues were unable to break down a stubborn Palace defence, despite dominating possession. Newcomer Estevao Willian was a bright spark, showcasing flair and creativity on his debut, suggesting he could be pivotal in unlocking defences going forward. Yet, the need for more clinical finishing remains a concern, highlighting a possible area for tactical refinement from Maresca as Chelsea aim to regain momentum for upcoming fixtures against West Ham and Fulham. Quick mentions Chelsea's 19-year-old defender Josh Acheampong was voted the club's Star of the Match against Palace. Former star Eden Hazard visited Stamford Bridge, bringing nostalgia and excitement to the fans. Manager Enzo Maresca remains optimistic despite a lacklustre start, with upcoming fixtures providing a platform to rebound. The Club World Cup success augments Chelsea's prestige despite recent on-field struggles. Estevao Willian's debut reminiscent of past stars, ignited the crowd's hope for a creative spark this season. 📸 Maurizio Lagana - 2025 Getty Images

Dillon Danis, Warren Spencer erupt over Misfits title bout: 'You're going to be taken out on a stretcher!'

Misfits Boxing is getting into the MMA game for its Aug. 30 event in Manchester, England. Before the headlining boxing bouts featuring ex-UFC stars Luke Rockhold, Darren Till and Tony Ferguson, Dillon Danis will return to action against Warren Spencer in a battle for the inaugural Misfits light heavyweight MMA title. It's been nearly two full years since Danis last competed in combat sports, coming up short in a boxing match against Logan Paul in October 2023, which ended a four-year hiatus from combat competition for the former Bellator MMA prospect. Danis went 2-0 in Bellator from 2018-19, however his upcoming match against Spencer marks his return to the sport for the first time in six years. Spencer, on the other hand, makes his MMA debut on Aug. 30 after starting his pro boxing career with a win in April. Calling in through Zoom to confront Danis on Tuesday's edition of "The Ariel Helwani Show," Warren revealed that he has no intentions of playing on the ground with the jiu-jitsu specialist. "I'd be stupid not to think that Dillon wasn't going to come and dive for my legs," Spencer said. "I think he's going to dive for my legs, I really do. I'm going to hit him with a big fresh one-two [combination] down the middle. He's going to go, 'Oh s***, this is real power,' and then he's going to dive for my legs and try and sniff my balls and tap me out. I'm not going to let him. I'm not going to let myself get my leg ripped off on live television or get strangled on live television. I'm tapping. "We're fighting for real. Punches, kicks, knees, elbows, flying dragon kick, or I'm tapping. ... You've shown the world now that when you've got nothing left — look at the Logan Paul fight, when there's nothing left, you die. You shoot for the legs and you die. When you know you've lost, you die." Never one to shy away from a verbal exchange, Danis quickly bantered back and forth with his upcoming opponent. Danis scored first-round submissions in his lone two MMA fights and advised Warren not to follow the footsteps of his previous foes. "I hope you tap quick because it's going to be a bad night," Danis responded. "You're not going to be able to walk. You're going to be taken out on a stretcher when your knees are mangled. "I'd fight you right now in this f***ing room, and I would whoop your ass 10 times out of 10. You don't understand it." Obviously, keeping the fight on the feet is the best path to victory for Spencer, as he admitted and desires. The Brit took it a step further, praising Danis and stating that there was no point in wasting his time learning jiu-jitsu ahead of the match. Before this fight came together, Danis was lined up to take on the aforementioned UFC veteran Ferguson in the now-defunct Global Fight League (GFL). Thanks to his brash, outspoken personality, Danis has previously found himself linked to much more experienced fighters than Spencer, and "The Mechanic" is aware of that. Therefore, he insists he's only trying to help Danis, to an extent. "I want to see Dillon come out and show everybody he's a well-rounded fighter," Spencer said. "He's calling out Jon Jones, all these big, crazy names. Look, you've got to get through 'The Mechanic' first. If you want to show everyone you're a well-rounded fighter and you want to show you can strike, then do it. "I'm going to make you richer. I'm going to give you a stepping stone to be a UFC legend, so you have to like me. Dillon's like my little stepson. What kind of father would I be if I wouldn't support my son?" Ultimately, Danis wasn't overly amused by Spencer's overtures and promised their upcoming fight would be his own return to the win column, while also keeping Danis undefeated in MMA. "It's going to be f***ed up when your stepson takes you down and puts you on your ass," Danis said.
