I just found the best straight jeans on the high street – they're only £35 and perfect for autumn
Daily Mail journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more A couple of weeks ago, I popped into Uniqlo's showroom in central London for a sneak peek of the AW25 collection. From cashmere knits to collared jackets and cord trousers, there was a lot to preview – and to get me excited for autumn. I left that afternoon thinking about one item in particular: a pair of straight jeans from the JW Anderson collection that I knew were going to be the perfect fit as soon as I'd pulled them from the rack. So, a few days later, I set out to find the pair in the Uniqlo store on Kensington High Street. As I swerved the rows of tees and parkas, and headed straight for the denim section, I was prepared to leave disappointed and place an online order (the collaboration with JW Anderson often sells out, after all). But, as luck would have it, the jeans were still in stock in different washes and a decent number of sizes. After beelining for the fitting rooms with three pairs, I ended up leaving with just one, though I'm already thinking about splurging on another colour when my next pay day rolls around. So, let's get into the details. I'm talking about are Straight Jeans from the Uniqlo x JW Anderson collection. They're a classic, five-pocket style with a mid-rise waist, and are available in three washes (light, mid and indigo blue) and three lengths (29inch, 31inch and 33inch). While they're made from 100% cotton (a composition I usually avoid when I'm shopping for jeans because it means there's no stretch), these don't need to be 'worn in' and are very comfortable to wear from the start. Plus, their clean straight cut (bar from a discrete JW Anderson logo on the back pocket) makes them look far more expensive than their high street price tag. They're also some of the best-fitting jeans I've ever tried on. After some hesitation (I wanted to size up for a more relaxed fit), I ended up going for a size 30 as there is minimal gaping at the back. And the 31inch length is just right for my 5ft 8inch frame, hitting at the ankle when I'm wearing trainers or loafers (although I think the 33inch length would be better come autumn, when I want to team the jeans with heeled ankle boots). They're just £35, too. Get a pair before they go viral on TikTok. It's 30°C This Weekend – This Is The Heatwave-Proof Uniqlo Dress I'm Reaching For
@@tonediscoveries via TikTok and @ Rogue August showers may have led you to believe that summer is nearing its end, but the UK weather has a few surprises in store. In fact, the weather apps are now predicting a heatwave over the weekend. Good news, if like me, you were looking for a reason to snap up another breezy frock. While there's plenty out there worth considering, none have caught our eye quite like Uniqlo's Gathered Mini Dress, and if Instagram is any indication, the style set agrees. Made from lightweight cotton to keep you cool once temperatures skyrocket to the late twenties, the mini dress is also incredibly affordable, meaning you won't regret only getting a few wears out of it before the September chill (until next summer, of course). So what is it about the dress that's us charmed? Well, to start with, the silhouette. Designed with an elegantly gathered bodice that cinches the waistline, it bears a striking resemblance to some of Dôen's whimsical frocks, namely the viral Ischia dress, minus the signature, extravagant puffed sleeves. Its fit and flare shape is also flattering across a range of body types, with sizes XXS through XL available to buy. Cotton Gathered Mini Dress, Olive Price: £12.90 (was £34.90) If you're looking for something lightweight that will see you through the stifling heatwave, consider this cotton Uniqlo mini dress. Fashion insiders have taken a liking to the olive green version. Of course, as with any Uniqlo staple, the brilliance of the dress doesn't end there. It comes in a conveyor belt of colours and patterns to cater to every mood. The classic black iteration is ideal if you're looking for something a little more traditional and chic, while the mossy olive is an excellent option if you want to inject a touch of (muted) colour into your wardrobe. Meanwhile, the ditsy floral versions have become a big hit among well-dressed women and are, surprisingly, still in stock in all sizes. Oh, and did I mention it comes with pockets (!)? Plenty of stylish dressers have worn the Uniqlo dress on its own with western and biker style boots. For a touch of boyish charm, retro style trainers are your best bet, and for a pop of colour, choose Adidas Gazelles in either pink or blue. We've also seen plenty of fashionable people wearing mini dresses like this one as blouses, layered on top of wide-leg jeans and trousers. For casual outings, sling a best-selling Uniqlo Round bag across your body, or for an elevated touch, opt for a designer-inspired tote bag such as the Ellyla Woven Leather Hobo Bag. Cotton Gathered Mini Dress, Light Blue Ditsy Print Price: £12.90 (was £34.90) The darling ditsy version of the Uniqlo is simply pretty, and is available in two colours, including this light blue iteration. 3. Cotton Gathered Mini Dress, Off White Ditsy Print Price: £12.90 (was £34.90) The off white version is equally as charming. 4. Cotton Gathered Mini Dress, Black Price: £12.90 (was £34.90) For a chic put together look, consider the black shade, which can be dressed up or down depending on your mood. UNIQLO work 'real joy' says golfer Adam Scott as Glasgow store nears
Adam Scott, who won the 2013 Masters in a playoff over Angel Cabrera on a rainy Sunday afternoon to become Australia's first champion in the tournament, was the first professional golfer to be a brand ambassador for UNIQLO, and has worked with the retailer on the technical development of a major product. This has been an ongoing collaboration, with enhancements made each year, and has involved the golfer providing technical input on his requirements when out on the course. The golfer, who was in Scotland last month for the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, says: 'Ultimately, my goal in working with UNIQLO is to create clothing that genuinely improves people's lives whether they're playing golf, working, or simply going about their day.' How did you become a brand ambassador for UNIQLO? I became a global brand ambassador for UNIQLO in 2013, and I'm proud to say I was the first professional golfer to represent the brand in that role. Before that partnership officially began, I had already encountered UNIQLO many times during my travels. Whether I was competing around the world or spending time off the course, I often found myself stopping into their stores. I was always drawn to the simplicity, functionality, and quality of their clothing. What stood out to me about UNIQLO was their deep commitment to innovation and craftsmanship. They consistently deliver high-quality garments made with thoughtfully selected materials and an incredible attention to detail. When the opportunity came to partner with them, it felt like a natural fit. It has been a real joy to collaborate with a company whose values align so closely with my own especially when it comes to performance, simplicity, and design with purpose. How long ago was that? 2013, 12 years ago! What were the aspects you considered most important, from a golfer's perspective, when providing input to the design of AirSense? When I'm out on the golf course, I obviously want to play well but just as importantly, I want to feel comfortable. I want the freedom to move naturally, without being restricted by what I'm wearing. That was a key priority when developing the AirSense trousers with UNIQLO. From the beginning, there was a clear function and purpose behind these trousers. They needed to perform exceptionally on the golf course, but like all pieces in the UNIQLO LifeWear they also had to be versatile enough for everyday life. That meant designing a pair of trousers that not only support athletic performance but also look smart enough for the office and feel relaxed enough for casual wear. It was a real pleasure to collaborate with the UNIQLO team on this, and to see that philosophy brought to life through the design process. Read more Ease of movement was one of the most important aspects we focused on. The golf swing is a powerful, dynamic motion, and the trousers had to allow for that range and fluidity without any restriction. Each year, we've refined and improved the AirSense design, and it's been incredible to witness its evolution. The fabric keeps getting better, lighter, more technical, and more comfortable. One feature I particularly appreciate is how lightweight the trousers are. For a technical garment, they have an incredibly soft and airy feel, which is especially important in the summer months. When the temperature rises, you want something that feels light and breezy, and these trousers really deliver on that front. Plus, the quick-drying, moisture-wicking technology helps maintain that same level of comfort you had when you first put them on, even after hours of wear. Read more Ultimately, my goal in working with UNIQLO is to create clothing that genuinely improves people's lives whether they're playing golf, working, or simply going about their day. With the AirSense trousers, I believe we've made something that blends functionality, comfort, and style in a way that truly supports how people live. What AirSense items do you wear when playing? When I play, my go to pieces are the AirSense trousers cotton-like and AirSense trousers wool-like. How do these help your game? What's so great about these trousers is that they are lightweight, so easy to move in and also breathable. All of that to say, I can concentrate on my play and not be concerned about my apparel. They also have such a clean and sophisticated silhouette which I feel good wearing. To what extent has AirSense clothing been adopted by fellow golfers? I'm often asked by both professional [and] amateur golfers about the AirSense trousers. Some of them have tried them and are always amazed by their functionality and comfortability. They are also versatile, you can wear it to the office, onto the green and all the way through the weekend. What does being a brand ambassador for UNIQLO involve? As UNIQLO global brand ambassador, UNIQLO and I work together on various initiatives such as introducing my favourite UNIQLO items and hosting [the] Next Generation Development Program for young golfers. I'm honoured being an ambassador together with other top athletes from around the world.
