Caernarfonshire takes centre stage at 2025 Royal Welsh Show

The former county of Caernarfonshire has been named the feature county for next year's event, which will be held in Llanelwedd from July 21 to 24.
As part of its role, Caernarfonshire is leading efforts to raise funds for improvements to the showground, with plans underway for new buildings and upgraded facilities.
John Owen, this year's Show President from Rowen near Conwy, said: "Funds have been raised in the past by the other counties to support the Show to erect new buildings and improve facilities.
"We have been raising funds for the show and we have something in mind but we are not there yet to reveal what this might be.
"Our main aim is to support the show and make 2025 one of the best Royal Welsh Shows."
Fundraising activities so far have included sponsored bike rides, car treasure hunts, sheepdog trials and a President's Ball, which will take place in Caernarfon in October.
Mr Owen and his wife Marian have been showing sheep at the Royal Welsh Show since 1989.
Their son Dafydd continues the family tradition, exhibiting Beltex and Cheviot sheep, as well as the rarer Black Welsh Mountain and Hill Radnor breeds.
Since 2012, the couple have also welcomed the Show President to Llanelwedd each year, guiding them around the showground—an honour they will receive themselves this year.
Mrs Owen said: "The show is an important part of the calendar for farmers across Wales and we are looking forward to going around the show and meeting our Royal guest."
That guest will be Princess Anne, who will make her seventh visit to the Royal Welsh Show.
In her role as President of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, Princess Anne will attend both the annual general meeting and the show itself.
Mrs Owen said: "Princess Anne knows what she is talking about and is very supportive of farming."
Caernarfon-based television production company Cwmni Da will film an episode of Garddio a Mwy at the event, airing at 8.25pm on Monday, July 28.
Presenter Adam Jones, who revived the horticulture section last year, will serve as honorary director, compete in several classes, and appear on the programme.

Mr Jones said: "I don't know how I'll get on because it's the first time I've entered.
"It's one thing to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers but it's another thing entirely to grow something that will catch the eye of the judges and win that coveted red certificate for a first place."
He is entering classes for sweet peas, pelargoniums, soft fruits and a display of five vegetables.
Mr Jones said: "It is encouraging a new generation of exhibitors and growers to compete and celebrate their work, with a big focus on education."
Euros Wyn, producer of Garddio a Mwy, said: "There will be something that will hopefully appeal to everyone in this special programme."

Surf's up, Archie! Prince Harry's son, six, follows in his footsteps as he embraces the California lifestyle and joins a large group of children for a day on the beach and a lesson in wave riding watched by his proud parents

The eldest child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is enjoying the quintessential Californian summer as Prince Archie, six, was recently spotted learning how to ride the waves at a popular surf camp. And it appears the young royal is a natural as Harry and Meghan beamed with pride while watching their son take part in a talent show organised by the surf school - after mingling with fellow parents of budding surfers last Friday. A video posted by Surf Happens, the Santa Barbara-based surfing institute that Archie is seemingly enrolled at, showed the six-year-old dressed in an orange t-shirt with the school's logo on it and a wetsuit. He could be seen showing off his dance moves on the beach while a large group of his peers cheered enthusiastically for Archie in the clip that also showed Meghan - dressed in a casual beach-ready outfit - on her phone. Harry, meanwhile, enjoyed a laugh with some of the other fathers present for the outing that was organised by Surf Happens at Santa Claus Beach in Carpinteria, just outside Santa Barbara. According to its website, the surf school was founded in 2000 and gives its students the opportunity to 'experience the spirit of Aloha and the lifestyle of surfing' as it organises lessons and camps for 'all ages and stages'. It is described as 'Santa Barbara's premier surf school' that offers year-round private and group classes while also running surf camps - as it appears that Prince Archie was part of the most recent batch for children between the ages of four and 17. He appeared carefree and excited for his turn in the spotlight as Archie - who seems to be following in his father's footsteps - performed during the school's talent show alongside 'happy campers' while Meghan and Harry watched from the sidelines. Earlier this year, the Duke of Sussex - who is an avid surfer himself - was spotted at a surf school with Archie, then five, in a since-deleted photograph. The image showed the Duke of Sussex wearing a black wetsuit alongside Archie on a jet ski in California. The photo was uploaded as part of an Instagram reel by professional surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer and taken at surfing star Kelly Slater's Surf Ranch in Lemoore. But the image was later removed from the reel, which the surf coach captioned: 'Don't hate but be happy & keep smiling. Brother HARRY, Let's go for 2025!' Other photos which remained in the reel included a selection of Harry riding a wave, one of him smiling with his board and another posing with Van Bastolaer. On Friday, the Sussexes looked worlds away from their royal selves as Meghan was dressed casually in a pair of denim shorts with a black tank top. She threw on a white linen shirt and a wide-brimmed hat as the sun shone brightly on the family's beach day. Harry also opted for a comfortable outfit, with the father-of-two seen wearing black shorts and a T-shirt with a khaki-coloured cap and sunglasses as he watched Archie participate in the surfing school's talent show. Their beach outing last week came just days ahead of Meghan's 44th birthday, which is on August 4. One day ahead of her birthday, mother-of-two Meghan took to Instagram to post a teaser for her lifestyle brand As ever. In a short video, she was shown carrying a wicker basket filled with flowers and bottles of As Ever Napa Valley rosé laid in white linen. While Meghan's face did not feature in the video, it showed her wearing a short white dress as she frolicked in the grass, thought to be at her Montecito estate near Santa Barbara, California. She showed off her stack of rings on her left ring finger, including her engagement ring, wedding ring and an infinity ring, estimated to be worth around £210,000. She also wore a gold Cartier Love Bracelet, which costs up to £7,050, and a gold Cartier Tank Watch that once belonged to Princess Diana, both of which she regularly wears. The clip later showed a view of Meghan's swinging feet as she sits atop a stone garden wall, clad in £720 tan-coloured Hermes Santorini sandals. The words 'Coming soon...' appeared over the video to tease the launch of her new 2024 Napa Valley Rosé. Shared on the official As Ever Instagram page last night, the caption read: 'Goodness in a glass. Right around the corner... Cheers to August!' Meghan's latest post comes after she announced another product coming to her As Ever line - although some of her customers were baffled as to what was actually new. The Duchess launched her lifestyle brand As ever earlier this year, releasing the first products in April, which included a range of teas, a raspberry spread, and a limited-edition wildflower honey with honeycomb, amongst other things. She followed it up with an apricot spread and another honey, and in July, she expanded into the world of alcohol when she dropped her own wine - the 2023 Napa Valley Rosé. Each release has been met with fierce excitement from her fans, and every product has sold out pretty quickly. Now, the Duchess of Sussex 's brand has announced its newest product... but it might not garner the same amount of enthusiasm since it's not very different from her last item. The company revealed on Wednesday that following the buzz surrounding the 2023 Napa Valley Rosé, it will be launching another wine, with a slight tweak - calling it the 2024 Napa Valley Rosé. And it vowed that it will pretty much taste the same as As Ever's first wine. 'It marries the same harmony of notes from our first blend and creates an elegant medley of delicate yet memorable flavor,' reads a press release. 'You'll want to clink glasses with friends as the sun sets, toasting to a summer of joy. 'Barefoot or in sandals, dressed up or dressed down, this rosé may become your favorite accessory for alfresco lunches and dinners at dusk.' In the release, As Ever listed some of the positive feedback customers had given the company over its first rosé. This included comments like, '10 out of 10,' 'perfect,' and 'elevated flavor'. 'This affirmed all of the love, time and effort our team, and our founder, poured into curating this blend to evoke the sun drenched spirit of Napa Valley, and the breathtaking tenor of the California Coast,' As Ever added. 'Thank you for filling our cup. Now it's time for us to fill your glass! We are pleased to share that our 2024 Napa Valley Rosé will be available for purchase next week.' The brand also posted to Instagram with a series of images showing the new wine resting in beach sand. It was uploaded alongside a caption that read: 'Oh, how we love seeing the world through rose colored glasses. Rosé colored glasses? Perhaps even better. Our new vintage of As Ever's beloved rosé is available next week. 'Stay tuned for more details and timing.' As Ever's first wine went on sale on July 1 and sold out within the hour. Customers were able to purchase three bottles for $90, six bottles for $159, and 12 bottles for $300. Last month, Daily Mail exclusively revealed that the alcoholic beverage is made by Fairwinds Estate, a California winery that creates bespoke wines for celebrities. The 2023 Napa Valley Rosé is described on the bottle as a 'delicately balanced rosé with soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish.' It has a 14.5 percent alcohol by volume for the 750ML bottle. The Daily Mail FEMAIL team tried the rosé and while the wine was smooth, we couldn't easily detect the notes of stone fruit. In fact, it tasted quite bland, and almost water-y. In addition, the rosé had some acidic notes, leaving a somewhat uncomfortable sensation at the back of our throats after swallowing. In the end, the verdict was the wine lacked flavor and tasted affordable and ordinary. It wasn't terrible - but it certainly wasn't great. We felt the rosé just didn't taste like you bought it at a fancy vineyard, where it's supposed to be made, but rather, like a wine you would be served at a work happy hour. The FEMAIL team also reviewed her initial set of products, and found that Meghan's raspberry spread was too thin, too sweet, and very runny. Her hibiscus tea was extremely bitter with heavy notes of floral, with one taste tester comparing it to 'drinking lip balm.' 'It tasted like dirty dishwater,' another FEMAIL writer shared. Some of us couldn't even bear to swallow it, as one person even spat it back into the cup.

Gayle King's CBS Mornings future 'murky' over $15m-a-year star's DEI agenda blamed for tanking ratings

Gayle King 's future at CBS Mornings is uncertain as networks boss are not happy with the star's focus on DEI and tanking ratings, according to a new report. King, who earns and eye-watering $15million a year, has reportedly refused to follow her bosses' attempts to move away from polarizing coverage, sources told the New York Post. The sources claimed that the 70-year-old anchor and her executive producer Shawna Thomas have alienated viewers with ultra-progressive programming, like an interview with RuPaul 's Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen, who was promoting his 'gender-bending' novel Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert. Ratings for the last-place morning show, once a cash cow for the network, have dropped to below 2million in recent months, according to Nielsen figures cited by The Post. Meanwhile Gayle lost between 20 to 30 percent of her audience in the last three weeks when compared to last year in the coveted 25- to 54-year-old demographic. 'The audience doesn't want woke. It doesn't like progressive and provocative bookings,' one of the sources told The Post. 'The morning show audience wants optimism and cheer and joy and what they were producing is at odds with audience expectations.' Gayle signed a contract extension last year for between $13 and $15million that is scheduled to end in May 2026, a source told The Post. Skydance Media, which is to take over running CBS likely won't offer Gayle the same deal given the ratings, the source added. The potential Mornings shake up come as CBS canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, whose own reported $15million contract also ends next May. Gayle's producer Shawna Thomas had reportedly already been told to tone down the progressive content, but just 'didn't do what she was told.' Thomas views herself as a 'major journalist who wants to heavy reporting and provocative interviews with edgy guests, insiders said. However, Thomas kept her job because she has Gayle's support. The Post, citing sources, reported that aside from the woke programming, viewers were 'alienated' by the fact none of the show's anchors, aside from Tony Dokoupil, are white. A shakeup is expected once Skydance, led by CEO David Ellison, takes over the network. As part of the deal with the FCC, Skydance pledged to monitor for political bias and Paramount eliminated its DEI policies. reached out to CBS for comment on this story. The network declined to comment to the New York Post. As previously reported, CBS Mornings is leaving its prized Times Square studio amid ongoing cost cutting efforts and plummeting ratings. The last-placed morning show spent big just four years ago to build the state-of-the-art studio, which reportedly cost tens of millions of dollars. But CBS Mornings is packing up and moving home to the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th Street. The move is reportedly slated for September and comes as CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon makes efforts to slash $500million from the network's budget.
