Experts from Carmoola have recently released their new Car Depreciation Index, developed with vehicle data specialists Brego, which ranks the top-performing family cars for resale value.
They found that the Porsche Macan is the slowest-depreciating family car sold in the UK - losing just 19.9% of its value over three years.
The Macan is particularly popular in the UK due to its blend of sporty performance, SUV practicality and the prestige of the Porsche badge.
It's championed for being agile and powerful, with a well-tuned suspension that makes it enjoyable to drive on various UK roads, from city streets to country lanes.

What's more, it offers a comfortable and refined experience, even at higher speeds.
Close behind is the Toyota Yaris Cross, another small SUV, which boasts a similarly impressive depreciation rate of 20.2%.
Other well-known nameplates such as the Land Rover Discovery and Toyota RAV4 also ranked highly.
In stark contrast, fully electric models like the Jaguar I-PACE and Audi E-Tron were found to lose over 65% of their value - making them among the fastest-depreciating family cars.

The I-PACE, which was recently discontinued by Jaguar along with their entire line-up of cars, is a simply gorgeous-looking SUV that looks like good value when bought used.
However, the model has been the subject of a number of recalls in recent years and it has since gained a reputation for reliability issues.
EV6 Kia EV6 GT is a ridiculously fast SUV that even boils your kettle - but can it beat £158k Porsche 911 in drag race
The study also found that MPVs retain value better than other family car types, with an average depreciation of 28.8%.
Saloons, though, depreciate the quickest, losing nearly 36% of their value.

This research comes as July is traditionally seen as the peak season for family car purchases in the UK - with cars able to retain their value often something financially conscious drivers think about.
Aidan Rushby, founder and CEO of Carmoola, said: 'Buying a family car is an exciting and important decision that brings convenience, comfort, and peace of mind to everyday life.
Family cars with the lowest depreciation over three years or 36,000 miles Porsche Macan - 19.9% Toyota Yaris Cross - 20.2% Land Rover Discovery - 24.1% Toyota RAV4 - 24.3% Volkswagen Tiguan - 25.3%

'Our latest data shows that depreciation is often the largest hidden cost of ownership, so choosing a vehicle that holds its value well is a smart way to protect your investment.
'With July traditionally the busiest month for family car sales and potentially a busy summer of travel ahead, having a reliable car that retains its value like the Porsche Macan or Toyota Yaris Cross can save families thousands when it is time to upgrade or sell.

'As summer holidays approach, many families will be planning road trips and preparing for back-to-school costs.
'Selecting a car with strong resale value not only safeguards your investment but also ensures you have dependable transport for all your journeys.'

Half of drivers motor along for longer than three hours leading to accidents & near misses

DANGEROUS DRIVING Half of drivers motor along for longer than three hours leading to accidents & near misses HALF of drivers have been found to push on for three hours or more without stopping, according to a recent poll. This is despite advise from the Highway Code that drivers should take breaks before reaching this time. 2 A poll of 2000 motorists found more than half do not follow official guidance Credit: Getty 2 People were also found to be unaware of the guidelines from the official Highway Code Credit: PA:Press Association The Highway Code advise drivers take a 15-minute break every two hours, but the poll of 2,000 motorists found 55 per cent didn't know about this official guidance. Nearly one in two (47 per cent) admit they simply keep going because they're desperate to reach their destination faster. But 13 per cent have had a near miss after once fatigue set in, and six per cent have been involved in a crash due to drowsiness. The research was commissioned by GRIDSERVE to encourage drivers to pause and relax during their drives this summer. The findings also found those driving electric cars are the most clued up on the guidelines from the Highway Code - as 63 per cent are aware of the 15-minute break suggestion. Whereas 46 per cent of petrol drivers and 44 per cent of diesel motorists knew this. Daniel Kunkel, CEO of the EV charging company, added: "We want everyone to enjoy their journey safely, and it's promising to see that EV drivers are leading the way when it comes to taking adequate breaks. "EV drivers' natural stopping patterns help avoid the dangers that come with the lack of breaks taken. "Taking breaks along road journeys doesn't have to feel like a chore. "There are various facilities available alongside motorways, with access to food, drinks, and entertainment. Drivers targeted with toll fine text message after cruising on highways - but three words reveal red flag "Our forecourts offer a place for all drivers to not only recharge their vehicles but also themselves." But overall, 36 per cent don't see the point in stopping unless they actually feel tired, while 34 per cent are determined to finish their journey before it gets dark. With 55 per cent of motorists planning a long journey in the next month, 39 per cent would be more likely to take breaks if the stop-off points were a bit more relaxing. Scenic spots could do the trick for 34 per cent of those polled, via OnePoll, while a quarter long for peace and quiet with no noise at all. When it comes to enjoying their breaks from long drives, EV drivers appreciate these the most (30 per cent), compared to 19 per cent of petrol drivers and 14 per cent diesel drivers. Road safety expert, Graham Feest, said: "The two-hour mark is when fatigue can start to seriously impact concentration, reaction times, and awareness. "Even if you don't feel tired, your brain is working harder to stay focused, especially on long, monotonous stretches of road. "That creeping tiredness can lead to missed signs, slower responses, or even micro-sleeps behind the wheel. "A short 15-minute stop is the sweet spot, as it gives your mind and body enough time to reset without breaking the flow of your journey. "Stretching your legs, getting some fresh air, or having a quick snack or drink can make all the difference. It's not just about comfort, it's about arriving safely."

More than 150,000 vehicles per day are reported to rely on the Dartford Crossing. It has been considered a vital cross that enables vehicles to commute or carry freight between the south-east and the rest of the country. It is the only way to cross the Thames river by road east of London, and links the counties of Essex and Kent. This is via the QEII bridge for southbound traffic, and two 1.4km-long tunnels for travellers going northbound. The closures will only occur overnight across the week, where driver's may be hit by disruptions. Diversions via the National Highways' network and local routes will be clearly signposted during this time. The QEII bridge will be fully closed from Saturday, August 16 to Sunday, August 17, between 10pm to 5am. The diversion route will be through the an installed contraflow through the Dartford east tunnel from 9:30pm on Saturday night. The Dartford west tunnel will remain open overnight for travel in the northbound direction. M6 and M4 closed over serious crashes with drivers facing long delays However, height restrictions will apply to vehicles going in this direction between 4.8 to 5 metres high. It involved the M20 motorway which was closed between Maidstone and Ashford overnight ahead of the spring bank holiday weekend for Operation Brock. The Dartford Crossing is also set to become more expensive next month. The cost of using it is expected to jump from £2.50 to £3.50 in September. This will mark the first price increase for the crossing since 2014. Transport Secretary, Lilian Greenwood, explained the toll increase was necessary in order to manage the almost 200,000 vehicles that use it everyday. Analysts have suggested that these increased charges could be used to fund the upcoming Lower Thames Crossing mega project. The project is set to ease congestion, and provide an alternative route for vehicles between Essex and Kent.
