Veteran Actor and General Hospital Star Tristan Rogers Dead at 79
Actor Tristan Rogers, best known for his role as wisecracking Australian lawman Robert Scorpio on General Hospital, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15. He was 79 years old. ABC's New York affiliate ABC 7 broke the news, which was confirmed by Rogers' manager, Meryl Soodak; she revealed the actor succumbed to lung cancer and was not a smoker.
Last month, the actor's publicist revealed he was battling cancer, and he and his family remained optimistic about the treatment. Rogers was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on June 3, 1946, and began his acting career on television in his native land, appearing in soaps such as Bellbird, Number 96, and The Box. He had become a series regular in the procedural The Link Men in 1970, which lasted for 13 episodes, and appeared in films such as Four Dimensions of Greta, The Flesh and Blood Show, and Sex Farm.

He got his break in American television when he signed on to play Robert Scorpio in 1980 until 1992, when he left the series. Rogers made guest appearances on GH in 1995 and returned full-time on the show in 2006, after the presumed-dead Robert returned to Port Charles and reunited with his daughter Robin (Kimberly McCullough).
He returned to the GH universe when he starred on the now-defunct spin-off series General Hospital: Night Shift for its second season in 2008 and later returned to GH that year. In 2010, it was announced he would be starring on as Colin Atkinson, the long-lost father of Cane Ashby (then-Daniel Goddard), on The Young and the Restless. He would star on the show for two years and return in 2014-2017 and 2019.
Rogers would also play double duty on GH and Y&R throughout the years, with him last being on GH from 2018 for a more extended stint and then in 2019; he appeared in recurring stints until November 2024, when viewers watched Robert and Holly (Emma Samms) reunite and leave town together. Rogers made his final appearance on GH in July when Sasha () came to stay with Robert with her newborn baby, Daisy.
Rogers also made appearances on streaming soaps The Bay and Studio City, and he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series for Studio City in 2020. Rogers is survived by his wife, Teresa Parkerton, children Sara Jane and Cale, and his grandchildren.

Justine eavesdrops as Drew tells Sonny to get Michael to petition the court to get immediate visitation and to sell his piers to Sidwell. Sonny says Drew is desperate because he'll never get Willow back no matter what happens. After Drew leaves, Justine is shocked Congressman Cain would resort to extortion, but Sonny says that's the real Drew. Sonny says nothing can be proven and she can't come forward to say she overheard because she'll be accused of corruption. Justine tells him he can't retaliate and she's going to bring Drew to justice. Josslyn shoots the hitman. Vaughn uses a pillow to finish him off. Vaughn thinks they should leave, but Josslyn wants to see if Britt will talk to them. Vaughn agrees for some time, but says they need to get rid of the body and dump it over a cliff. On today's General Hospital recap: Paramedics are called and take Maxie to the hospital where Liz and Lucas work on her, while Lucy and Felicia stand vigil. Brook Lynn reaches out to both Lulu and Spinelli who head to the hospital. Spinelli gets upset so Lulu calls Emma to go over and stay with the kids and reassures him Maxie will be fine. Lucas updates everyone that Maxie was having a heart attack and her heart did stop but they got her back. Lucas reassures them Maxie will be ok. Lucas asks Brook Lynn if Maxie ingested something as she might have had an allergic reaction to the facial cream. Lucy says they were all part of the product testing so it couldn't have been that. Carly says everything Willow has lost is Nina's fault. The two argue and scream at each other until Nina goes to hit her and Carly pushes Nina into the pool. Nina drags herself out of the pool for round 953 with Carly, who says Nina and Willow will never get near the kids again. Vaughn and Josslyn have sex. Afterwards, she says they need to stay to find out what's going on. Josslyn says she needs to get Britt one on one and maybe she'll talk. They decide to go to her in the morning. Jason tells Britt he saw her in Paris but Liesl still believes she's dead. He wonders if being dead was her choice. Jason says she can come home, but Britt says she's not going back to Port Charles again. Britt asks how he survived the collapse and he explains about being an informant. She realizes he did it to protect Carly, which upsets her. Jason asks how she survived but she refuses to tell him, saying she grieved him. She calls him a selfish son of a bitch and that she's wasted too much time on him. He turns it back on her, but she says she made the decision not to let her loved ones watch her deteriorate. Britt says she has a life here, living in a five star resort and that her Huntingtons is in remission. She tells him to leave, but Jason says the WSB has the place flagged which means she's in danger. Jason says he can have her out by tonight, but Britt says she doesn't need him to save her. She kicks him out of her room then calls someone to tell them to fix the problem right now. (** I get that they can't actually do CPR on a person, but they could make it look a wee bit more realistic. At one point, Liz' hands were on Maxie's neck.
