The fitness guru died one day after celebrating his 76th birthdayRichard Simmons' longtime Los Angeles home where he died has been listed for sale, one year after his death.
The fitness guru died in the Hollywood Hills home one day after celebrating his 76th birthday, his longtime publicist, Tom Estey, confirmed to PEOPLE on July 13, 2024.
At the time, a law enforcement source told PEOPLE, "The LAPD are not pursuing the investigation as if foul play was involved at this point."
The Richard Simmons Estate, as the $7 million property is called, was built in 1937. Sitting on a half-acre lot above the Sunset Strip, it spans approximately 4,119 sq. ft. and has four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
John A. Lucy of Keller Williams Hollywood Hills is the listing agent of the home, which is described as a Neo-Classical Revival colonial.
Features include a gated motor court, separate from the stately front portico with grand columns.
Once inside, the front doors lead to a formal center hall entry with custom wood flooring, an updated kitchen featuring Thermador appliances and breakfast area, plus a formal dining room spacious enough to hold 10 guests.
Additional areas for entertaining include a step-down living room and music room with a double-sided fireplace. Palladian fan windows and French doors are among the carefully thought-out architectural detailing.
An added maid suite for staff or guests has its own laundry, pantry and service entrance.
With a home this special, of course, the primary suite — with its two levels and four rooms — would also be designed to impress.
The area is home to a dressing room, bathroom and a large finished upper level Keiser-equipped gym or additional living space.
A pool and pool house are some of the perks to be enjoyed, along with the landscaping design that offers a scenic backdrop.
Simmons, known for his vibrant personality, had not been publicly seen since 2014 and became increasingly private as time went on. However, he posted on social media the day before his death, letting fans know he was grateful for the 'many messages' he received for his birthday.
Teresa Reveles lived with Simmons for 35 years and was often erroneously referred to as his housekeeper.

After his death, she recalled how every night a family of skunks would arrive at his back door in West Hollywood, Calif. Simmons would feed them peanuts by hand, getting so close that the animals became accustomed to him.
''Richard! They probably have rabies!' I would tell him,' Reveles told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.
'He died happy,' she added of her longtime friend.

John Cena Got A Hair Transplant

John Cena is the latest celebrity to get candid about his cosmetic surgery procedures. In an Aug. 6 interview with People, the WWE champion opened up about his life-changing hair transplant and facing the pressures of aging in the spotlight. Last July, John announced that he's retiring from the ring in 2025, and explained that "age plays a factor." The 17-time WWE World champion wants to make room for young, new wrestlers. "I'm not as strong or as fast as I used to be. I made a promise when I started gaining some notoriety that when I'm a step slower, I will go, because there will be kids just as hungry as I was who have earned a shot to see if they can make it," he said. As his retirement from wrestling approaches, he's focusing on his health and 4-year marriage to Shay Shariatzadeh. "My health and my dedication to my partner are the tip of my spear in life right now, so I think every time I go out [in the ring], I just want to make sure I'm able to give my all, but it's time to step away," John continued. The Peacemaker actor said his "farewell" tour will serve as a closure for his fans, who he described as "the reason for my optimism, my perserveance, my passion." "They don't let you get away with phoning it in, because they'll eat you alive," he added, before opening up about a topic that he's addressed recently after bullying from fans: his hair loss, and whether or not he got a hair transplant. "As I was trying to hide my hair loss, the audience was bringing it to light," John said. "I saw their signs that said 'The bald John Cena,'" he said. "They pushed me into going to see what my options were. I now have a routine: red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, conditioner — and I also got a hair transplant last November." "I hate the fact that if there wasn't so much shame around it, I'd have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness." The bullying doesn't work on John in the same way at this point in his career. He's actually "fired up" about the topic of his hair. "If somebody's going to sweat me for that, I don't think there's any shame in that," he said. "It completely changed the course of my life." "They don't do anything except move your hair, one by one, from one area to another," he added. The wrestling superstar has established himself as an actor with recurring roles in action movies like the Fast and Furious franchise, Heads of State (2025), or comedies like 2023's Vacation Friends 2 and Barbie. And John said his hair has given him more range to continue his acting. "A different hairstyle can identify a part that can get me more work, do the thing I love to do." The Married... With Children alum, 53, recorded the Tuesday, Aug. 5, episode of MeSsy, the podcast she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, from an L.A. hospital as she struggled with severe pain that made her feel like her appendix was bursting. While in Europe visiting family, Applegate said she began to feel unwell. On the flight back, however, she decided to go straight to the hospital, explaining she didn't want to wake up at 3 a.m. and need to run to the emergency room. 'I'm like, I wanna be admitted,' Applegate said, sharing her frustration with treatment during her multiple sclerosis struggle. She continued, 'I'm staying here because I want answers. I want every test that you can possibly think of or ones that you haven't even thought of, and I want them done.' The next day, she said, she woke up with an extreme pain on her right side. 'Of course, my brain's like, 'Oh, my appendix is bursting,' " Applegate recalled. The pain, she shared, was 'radiating' from the back to her front: 'So much pain. 'I'm just gonna be here,' she said, referring to her hospital stay and explaining, 'Because of this kidney infection, I have to have intravenous antibiotics right now. And that's where we're at.' Like, seriously, I'm 53,' she said, explaining that at a previous visit to the hospital, she'd been asked if she was wiping from front to back, as is recommended by doctors. Applegate said she has 'the cleanest vagina … I'm a clean girl down yonder.'
