Britain's Adam Peaty eyes four medals at 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles
It was confirmed in April that the 50m breaststroke would be one of three disciplines added for the Games in three years' time, and the Team GB star said he is incentivised by the prospect of defeating the United States – the current world champions in the medley events – in their home Olympics.
'I'm very excited the 50m has been added but I will do the 100m as well, so that will give me four opportunities to (win a) medal,' he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

'We want to beat America on home turf in that medley. We've got the incredible Oliver Morgan on backstroke, some very strong times – and that's always been our weak link at previous Olympics. It's very exciting.'
The 30-year-old is aiming to get back to his best after taking breaks from swimming both in 2023 and again after bringing home silver from Paris last year in the 100m breaststroke, which has meant opting out of the World Championships currently being held in Singapore.
'I made the call in January or February, when I started to get back into training, that this Worlds wouldn't be for me because it would be too rushed,' Peaty said.
'I want to be at the (2026) Commonwealth Games. I want to be at the Europeans next year. I'm never going to take my spot for granted – just because I've got a world record doesn't mean I'm going to be there, it's ridiculous. I've got to earn those places, which excites me.
'I did some race prep before I came out here to see where I'm at and we're in a good place for October World Cups in America and Canada.'

Security video shows Olympic gold medallist attacking boyfriend at airport
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Footage of Olympic gold medallist Sha'Carri Richardson attacking her boyfriend at an airport in the United States has been released. A security video from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport shows Richardson angrily confronting her partner, the American sprinter Christian Coleman, and shoving him into a wall. Coleman was seen attempting to diffuse the situation by walking away from Richardson throughout the video, however, he was pushed and shoved on multiple occasions. Richardson, who won a silver mdeal in the 100m and gold in the 4x100m relay at the Olympics in Paris last year, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault. According to the Port of Seattle Police, Richardson told officers that the argument began because Coleman had taken her headphones. 'Richardson advised she did not assault him in any way and the dispute was only a verbal argument,' police documents said. Coleman, however, has since insisted that Richardson should not have been arrested and described them both as 'two dominant personalities'. 'For me personally, I feel like it was a sucky situation all round,' said Coleman, who declined to press charges against Richardson. 'I don't feel like she should have been arrested. 'I mean people have discussions and emotions and stuff like that. She has things that she needs to work on for herself of course. So do I, so do you, so does everybody. 'But I'm the type of guy who's in the business of extending grace, and mercy and love. Scottish clothing brand Trespass has been appointed as the official uniform partner for next year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The move makes the firm, which has roots going back to 1938, the first-ever brand to kit out the volunteers and workforce for two editions of the games - 2014 and 2026. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The firm, which is headquartered in Glasgow, will be responsible for designing, producing and supplying a uniform which will become a familiar sight in the city next summer, worn by thousands of team members and volunteers. Jade Gallagher, chief operating officer of Glasgow 2026, with Phil Batty, chief executive of Glasgow 2026, and the joint founders of Trespass - Afzal Khushi and Akmal Khushi. Picture by Craig Watson The appointment comes 11 years after Trespass kitted out the 2014 Commonwealth Games workforce in a red, white and grey uniform that became synonymous with the games' volunteers, known as Clydesiders. Running from July 23 to August 2, Glasgow 2026 will be the UK's biggest sporting event next year, bringing together 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories to compete across ten sports and six para sports at four of Scotland's most iconic venues. Originated in 1938 as Jacobs and Turner Limited, the Trespass brand was established in Glasgow in 1984 by Afzal and Akmal Khushi and now has 299 stores selling activewear and outdoor adventure equipment. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The joint founders of the Trespass brand said: 'It's great to be back. When we designed the uniform in 2014, we thought it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. So, getting the chance to be part of the games again, in our home city, and design a second uniform is truly special. 'We know how important the uniform is for uniting the Games workforce and we're now working hard to create a design that's the perfect fit for Glasgow 2026.' Jade Gallagher, chief operating officer of Glasgow 2026, said 'It's great to welcome back Trespass to the games as a returning sponsor for 2026. The games' uniform means so much to our volunteers and is the first thing athletes and spectators will see as they approach our iconic venues.

Joe Root's appetite for runs impresses fellow ‘Fab Four' member Kane Williamson
Root shows no sign of slowing down with 22 hundreds in his last 61 Tests and he recently moved up to second on the list of all-time top run-scorers in the format, now sitting 2,378 behind India's Sachin Tendulkar. Kane Williamson (pictured) has been impressed by Joe Root (Mike Egerton/PA) The 34-year-old's prolonged purple patch has so impressed Williamson – the former New Zealand captain – who is no doubt his contemporary seems like he could keep going for a lot longer. Williamson, who turned 35 on Friday, said: 'Joe's just remarkable with what he's doing and where he's going and the things he's ticking off, at the moment. It's incredibly special and great to follow. 'I'm just full of admiration for that. He's a little bit younger than me, which is even scarier, he could keep going and it feels like he could well do for about 20 years!' While Williamson, Root and Smith continue their Test careers, Kohli, the eldest of the quartet, called time on his career in the longest format earlier this year. Williamson said: 'You never really consider it and you do see some of your opponents and mates making some of these decisions and you think 'gosh, it has been a while', and you're not getting younger. 'It's a reality at some stage. For someone like Virat, who made that decision to go out on his own terms and do what he's done for the game, that's amazing. That's so special. 'Everyone was caught by surprise because you feel like it will never happen, but it does. I'm more aware of that than most – and that's great.' Williamson, with New Zealand's blessing after electing against signing a central contract, has skipped the Black Caps' ongoing Test series in Zimbabwe to play county cricket and The Hundred this summer. David Warner and Kane Williamson are in the house! 🚨#TheHundred — The Hundred (@thehundred) August 5, 2025 As well as a stint with Middlesex, he is captaining London Spirit, again joining forces with former Australia batter David Warner, an ex-international foe and team-mate at several franchise leagues. Williamson added: 'He's without doubt been one of the greatest in the franchise T20 game. The heights he reached in the Indian Premier League, he's so highly-regarded, he's been one of the all-time greats. 'He's a little bit further down the line in terms of his career but he still has that quality in him and it's great to have him in our team.'
