JLR expects BEVs to account for significant portion of India biz in 3-4 yrs
expects electric vehicles to account for a significant portion of its
business
in India over the next 3-4 years, as the company builds its
portfolio
amid hopes of faster adoption of green vehicles in the country, according to a top company executive. Tata Motors-owned marquee brand plans to roll out around 8 variants of
Battery Electric Vehicles
(BEVs) in the country by 2030, including the
Range Rover BEV
, which is expected to be introduced in India sometimes next year.
Tata Motors-owned JLR currently does not have any BEVs in its portfolio in the country.
"I think that EVs are one of those things that will hit a point where it is going to race ahead. It was racing already, but slowed down a bit. With every manufacturer now investing, I think that the power of many will fuel this (segment) further, giving consumers confidence," Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India Managing Director Rajan Amba told PTI here.

With battery pricing dropping and mileage increasing amid the right set of government policies in place, the EV segment is moving in the right direction in the country, he added.
"For whatever reasons, it (EV sales) kind of slowed down a bit, maybe swayed by foreign sentiment, but I think that certainly for our brand and for our category where we operate, I think it will be more than enough to create in the next 3-4 years, a significant portion of our business to come from the BEV portfolio," Amba said.
Live Events
He noted that when many OEMs come forward, it helps to create a market, which is not possible if only a single entity is operating in the segment.
Amba noted that adoption of EVs in luxury segment in the domestic market has been brisk and various automakers have already benefited in terms of their overall volumes in the last few years.
He expressed hope that going by the market sentiments, Range Rover BEV is also expected to generate a strong demand in the domestic market.
Amba stated that the only thing lacking and which needs to be accelerated is the speed in creating charging infrastructure which would give confidence to the prospective customers.
He noted that JLR is working very closely with
Tata Motors
and other group firms in this regard.
As part of its global
sustainability
goals, JLR aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2039.

Nitish announces special packages for investors
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced a four-point economic package aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs to set up industries in Bihar. Alongside this industrial push, he reiterated his govt's target of providing jobs and work opportunities to one crore young people through govt recruitment, private sector employment and self-employment initiatives over the next five years. The economic package, he said, would specifically benefit investors willing to establish industrial units in the state, supplemented by a range of existing incentives. The announcement was made on the CM's social media handle. Detailing the package, Nitish said, "The four-pronged economic package includes capital subsidy, interest subsidy and the doubling of the incentive money payable under the goods and services tax (GST). The arrangements would be made to provide land to the investors in every district, and the land would be given free of cost to them who will give more jobs." "If there is any dispute on the land allotted for establishing an industrial unit, it would be resolved. All these facilities would be given to those who establish industrial units in the next six months. Several other provisions besides these have also been made, which would be quite helpful for the investors and detailed notifications would be made separately," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? "Now, our govt has fixed the target of covering one crore youths through govt jobs and work opportunities over the next five years (2025-30). The govt has been incentivising those interested in establishing industrial units, or deciding to work on self-employment, by providing them various kinds of facilities. Now, the govt will give a special economic package to entrepreneurs to open and establish industries in the state," he added. Explaining the larger objective, the CM said, "The aim of the govt behind making these initiatives is to promote setting up of more industries in the state and to see that youths acquire skills to become self-dependent and also get jobs for their better future." The announcement came a day after his Independence Day address at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where he had reaffirmed his government's decision — already approved by the cabinet — to provide jobs and work opportunities to one crore youths between 2025 and 2030. After 45 years, Jayanagar Regional Transport Office shifts to Bengaluru's far south
Bengaluru: Bengaluru South RTO, widely known as Jayanagar RTO, has now found a new address in the far south of the city. The KA-05 RTO office is being shifted to Anjanapura on Kanakapura Road. It operated for nearly 45 years at Jayanagar — including 11 years from BMTC's TTMC building on rent. Built at a cost of Rs 11 crore, the new facility will house one of Bengaluru's busiest RTOs. Saturday, transport minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the new building at Anjanapura near NICE Road. The office is spacious, equipped with all required amenities, and will soon be shifted to the new location." Bengaluru South RTO, established in 1980, has remained one of the most popular RTOs in the city in terms of new vehicle registrations and revenue collection. The new office, spread across 38,793 square metres, is located at survey no. 64, Anjanapura, Uttarahalli Hobli. A senior transport department official said, "The South RTO earlier functioned from the BDA Complex in Jayanagar 4th Block before moving 11 years ago to the BMTC TTMC opposite it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it better to shower in the morning or at night? The official clarified that the move would not greatly affect citizens as most services—from applying for a learner's licence to registering new vehicles—are now done online. Driving licence tests are already conducted at the Jnanabharathi track. So there is no change in the process. He added that owning a building will save substantial rental costs for the department. Currently, 70 driving schools and 36 pollution testing centres operate in the Bengaluru South RTO's jurisdiction. In recent years, several RTOs in the city have been relocated to new premises. Bengaluru East RTO, earlier known as Indiranagar RTO, shifted to Kasturi Nagar; the Koramangala RTO, popularly called Central RTO, moved to HSR Layout; while Yelahanka RTO, once based at the BDA Complex in Yelahanka New Town, was relocated to the northern outskirts near Singanayakanahalli. Another official said, "In Bengaluru, old RTOs were functioning from BDA-owned complexes. Over the years, poor maintenance and lack of upgraded amenities caused inconvenience to people visiting the offices. Lack of adequate parking space also became an issue. Shifting RTOs to their own premises will save money for the transport department in the long run. RTOs play a crucial role in generating revenue for the state exchequer, but operating from rented buildings without proper facilities has long been a grievance.
