Dr Zaliha dismisses Rafizi's claims, says PKR election committee reviews complaints diligently
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR election committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa has dismissed Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's claims that she failed to manage the committee in addressing irregularities and other issues surrounding the party's election process.
Dr Zaliha, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), described the claims made by the incumbent PKR deputy president as merely his personal opinion.
She stressed that the committee is diligently reviewing all complaints received.
"That is (Rafizi's) personal view," she told reporters after officiating National Youth Day 2025 celebration for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
Dr Zaliha also refuted claims that the committee had neglected its duties, stressing that all grievances are being addressed in accordance with party procedures.
She said the committee has received over 280 complaints, which are currently being scrutinised.
"We have received over 280 complaints covering various stages, including nominations, campaigning, and branch-level results.
"Each is being scrutinised, and action has been taken where necessary.
"I strongly deny suggestions that we are not paying attention. We take every complaint seriously, and several have already been acted upon," she added.
In his Yang Bakar Menteri podcast, Rafizi alleged that the committee had failed to address key issues, including instances where candidates from other parties were able to contest in PKR elections.
Following this, PKR's secretary-general, Fuziah Salleh, said that on May 11, it expelled 28 members, including elected leaders, for holding membership in other political parties.
The committee also noted that the audit report cited by Rafizi found the party's e-voting system to be secure and free of irregularities.
On April 17, Dr Zaliha also dismissed allegations of "invisible hands" influencing the election results, stating that the committee has been closely monitoring the process and has not observed any such interference.
The PKR National Congress is scheduled from May 21 to 24, with the main polling day on May 23.

Madani reform agenda alive, advancing, says Azalina
KUALA LUMPUR: The Madani government has delivered the Parliamentary Services Act 2025 and spearheaded more than 30 legal amendments since 2023, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said ( pic ). "This is not mere rhetoric. It is concrete evidence that the Madani Reform agenda is very much alive and advancing,' she said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (June 11) Azalina said she agreed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's statement yesterday that reform efforts should not be rushed, but rather approached as a structured process requiring thorough consideration. "Systemic reform is never instantaneous, and for good reason. As policymakers, our duty is to ensure that every reform is not only ambitious but also implementable. There is no wisdom in putting the cart before the horse. "Let's be clear, the Madani government has laid the foundations for reform at a pace unmatched by previous administrations. The results speak for themselves. #MADANIBekerja,' she added. MACC, TI-M support efforts to improve Whistleblower Protection Act
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) have expressed full support for the government's ongoing efforts to improve the Whistleblower Protection Act. The MACC said the joint support was conveyed when the executive committee of TI-M, led by its president Raymon Ram, paid a courtesy call on MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya today. It said the enhancement of the Act is currently being undertaken by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, through the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department (BHEUU). During the meeting, Azam reaffirmed the commission's commitment to ensuring that the identities of whistleblowers and the information provided by them are kept confidential and not disclosed, once the whistleblower meets the conditions stipulated under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010. 'Meanwhile, Raymon said TI-M had submitted proposals to BHEUU to review several sections of the Act that contradict other laws, which could result in the loss of protection for whistleblowers,' it said in a statement. Both parties also discussed mutual concerns, including political funding, the strengthening of the Integrity Pact in Malaysia, the implementation of the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) MS ISO 37001 accreditation, and beneficial ownership declaration. 'All tenderers and companies participating in government procurement, based on the guidelines of the Companies Commission of Malaysia, are seen as capable of preventing corruption and fraud in procurement processes involving government suppliers,' the statement said.
