Egypt Launches First National PR Association
Egypt's public relations industry has taken a historic leap forward with the official launch of the country's first national public relations association, announced during the closing session of the Narrative PR Summit 2025. The milestone not only establishes a unified body to represent Egypt's PR professionals but also marks Egypt as the first country in North Africa to join the prestigious Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.
The announcement was made by Lamia Kamel, Founder of the Narrative Summit and Managing Director of CC Plus, a leading integrated communications and PR agency. Kamel described the move as a transformative step toward building a globally connected and locally empowered PR community that plays a vital role in Egypt's economic, social, and cultural development.
'Egypt is now the first country in North Africa to join this global body—an achievement that gives the public relations community here a platform to grow, train, and contribute to shaping the country's narrative,' said Kamel. 'One of the greatest legacies of the Narrative Summit is the belief that everyone is a storyteller—and now, we have the opportunity to build an army of storytellers who can share the story of modern Egypt with the world.'
The launch ceremony took place during the ninth edition of the Narrative PR Summit, held at Somabay on Egypt's Red Sea coast under the patronage and in the presence of the Ministers of Planning and Economic Development, International Cooperation, Investment, Youth and Sports, and Tourism, along with the Governor of the Red Sea. With the theme 'Egypt Reset,' the summit brought together prominent government officials, industry experts, and local and international business leaders to explore how communication can drive national transformation.
In a symbolic and highly anticipated moment, Stephen Shepperson-Smith, board member of the Global Alliance, presented Lamia Kamel with Egypt's official membership certificate during the summit's closing session. Also in attendance were Global Alliance President and CEO Professor Justin Green, board member Irene Lungu Chipili, and leading voices from Egypt's PR landscape.
The new national association brings together five of Egypt's top PR firms under one board, forming a collaborative platform that will work to elevate industry standards, provide professional development opportunities, and foster innovation in communications. The founding board members include:
Lamia Kamel, Managing Director of CC Plus
Dr. Halim Abou Seif, CEO of Rada PR
Mai Abaza, CEO of Publicist Inc.
Mohamed Abdelkader, CEO of Influence Communications
Rania Azab, CEO of 4PR Group
This unified body is set to play a central role in driving initiatives aimed at promoting Egypt's image locally and internationally, supporting youth engagement through training and mentorship programs, and highlighting the importance of strategic communications in shaping public perception and policy.
According to Kamel, the association will also act as a forum for knowledge sharing, research, and innovation, offering practitioners access to global best practices through its new partnership with the Global Alliance—an international federation of major PR and communication management associations.
'The creation of this association is about more than recognition—it's about building something that lasts,' said Dr. Halim Abou Seif, a founding board member. 'We are committed to nurturing the next generation of communicators who understand the critical role our industry plays in national development and global engagement.'
The announcement was met with strong support from attendees of the summit, who hailed it as a long-overdue step toward institutionalizing public relations in Egypt and ensuring that the country's narrative is shaped by professionals with a deep understanding of its history, culture, and aspirations.
A press conference is expected to be held in the coming weeks to unveil the association's detailed roadmap, including membership criteria, upcoming training programs, and regional engagement strategies.
With this bold step, Egypt not only strengthens its presence in the global communications landscape but also empowers its PR professionals to play a leading role in telling the country's evolving story—one rooted in resilience, transformation, and vision for the future.

We support Egyptian Drilling Company's international expansion, with focus on Saudi Arabia, Kuwait: Petroleum Minister
Kareem Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, has reiterated the Ministry's support for the Egyptian Drilling Company's (EDC) strategic expansion into international markets, particularly strengthening its footprint in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Speaking during the company's general assembly meeting, Badawi described EDC as a leading player in both onshore and offshore oil and gas well drilling in the region. He noted the company's proven success in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, attributing its performance to operational excellence, a robust fleet, and highly skilled human capital. 'The Ministry fully backs EDC's plans to grow abroad, especially in established markets like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, while exploring opportunities in new territories,' Badawi said. He highlighted the company's strong competitive advantages, including its leadership in the domestic market, deep experience with major international operators in Egypt, and an integrated fleet of onshore and offshore drilling rigs. Badawi also emphasized the importance of maximizing the use of EDC's assets—especially its rig fleet—as the company plays an increasingly vital role in achieving the Ministry's strategic goals: increasing domestic production and reinforcing global partnerships. He called for enhanced focus on human capital development, particularly in upskilling and preparing new generations of talent in this specialized field. The Minister also underscored the need for continued excellence in safety practices, urging EDC to integrate lessons learned from past incidents and maintain high safety standards across operations. Expansion across Global Markets Osama Kamel, Chairperson of EDC, presented the company's performance highlights, noting substantial progress in expanding operations outside Egypt. EDC has initiated collaborations with new clients and is exploring entry into new markets, including India, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Turkey, Algeria, West Africa, Brazil, and Thailand—alongside ongoing expansion in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Kamel stated that EDC currently owns and operates a fleet of 69 rigs dedicated to oil and gas well drilling and maintenance, both onshore and offshore. The company employs around 6,000 engineers, technicians, and workers across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. In 2024 alone, EDC drilled approximately 200 new wells and conducted maintenance and repair work on over 600 wells. Two new onshore drilling rigs equipped with the latest technologies were added to the fleet. The company maintained safety indicators above global industry benchmarks, with zero lost-time incidents reported during rig operations. Its safety systems undergo regular review by certified external auditors. Recognition and Operational Excellence Kamel highlighted the performance of EDC's Saudi subsidiary, Egyptian Drilling & Petroleum Services, which continues to deliver high standards in its operations with Saudi Aramco. Currently, ten of the company's rigs—both onshore and offshore—are operating in the Kingdom. Notably, EDC's land rig EDC 45 received the 2024 Excellence Award from Aramco, continuing a long-standing tradition of the company's rigs being ranked among Aramco's best performers. EDC also achieved an average equipment performance efficiency of 97.2% over the past three years, as reported by Aramco. In Kuwait, the company maintained its strong track record, receiving a certificate of excellence for its operational performance in the market. Financial and Talent Development Milestones EDC reported revenues of approximately $406m in 2024. In parallel with its growth strategy, the company remains committed to human capital development. It has launched extensive training programs for newly graduated engineers, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled professionals. EDC's dedicated training center, one of the most prominent in the region, is internationally accredited and offers programs aligned with the latest global standards—contributing significantly to workforce efficiency and capability enhancement.

Global Narrative Debuts to Drive Egypt's Voice Across Borders
From Cairo and Riyadh, Global Narrative steps onto the scene with a clear mission: to amplify Egypt's identity on the world stage through smart, strategic storytelling. Apr 19, 2025 Born out of the Narrative Summit, 'Global Narrative' is a new venture spanning Cairo and Riyadh (and soon the world!) that places purpose-driven PR at the heart of cultural revival and regional storytelling. At the close of the 2025 Narrative Summit, as the final applause echoed through the auditorium, a new story began—one not told from a podium but designed to shape policies and perceptions. Global Narrative is a bold new venture by leading communications firm CC Plus and co-founded by Lamia Kamel and Hania Amr Moussa, dedicated to reshaping how Egypt—and the wider region—tells its story on the global stage. With offices in both Cairo and Riyadh, the platform moves beyond conventional PR to something far more ambitious: strategic nation branding, cultural diplomacy, and personal positioning for regional leaders operating on the world stage. But this isn't PR for PR's sake. 'We've learned that storytelling, when rooted in purpose, becomes one of the most powerful tools for transformation,' says Lamia Kamel, Managing Director of CC Plus and founder of the Narrative Summit. 'Global Narrative is a natural extension of everything we've built—from our regional growth to our commitment to Egypt's cultural and global relevance.' Under the banner 'PR with Purpose', the new company is set to offer tailored communication strategies, executive branding for changemakers, and strategic visibility campaigns for public and private sector entities. Its goal? To amplify Egypt's voice, not just as a tourist destination or emerging market, but as a cultural, intellectual, and economic hub that belongs in the center of global conversations. For co-founder Hania Moussa, the timing couldn't be more urgent. 'We need to move past surface-level narratives,' she explains. 'It's time to talk about what connects us as a region, from culture and tourism to innovation and development. Through Global Narrative, we're not just telling stories, we're shaping them, together.' In many ways, Global Narrative carries forward the founding vision of the Narrative Summit itself, a platform that has, over the years, gathered Egypt's top business minds, creatives, and policymakers to reimagine the country's future. With this new venture, that vision gains operational teeth: a full-fledged firm tasked with exporting Egypt's best-kept stories and ensuring they reach the audiences that matter.
